Yes this is a shout out to any  who are from North Branch High school and in the graduating class of 1999.  I have been contacted by Class President, Melissa Willer (Johnson) and she is currently gearing up to plan our 10 year reunion.  She is asking for the addresses of all '99 Alumni so she knows how to reach everyone as far as invites are concerned.  If you want to pass your address to me- you can do so in a private note - and I can get it to her.

Thank you

Current mood:  accomplished

Meh, what can I say.  I don't typically blog here.  And I still won't.  But there aresome people who check in here every now and then to see if I have actually chosen to let anyone know how things are going.  You won't find a lot here, as I have stated on my hp, but periodically, I might make a small post to at least let everyone know that I am still alive.

Been concerned for my mom, her husband, and my sister.  My thoughts are still with them as well as with a few friends as well.  Mostly just still trying to readjust to things, but at least - to me anyway- I feel as if things are getting better.  Those of you who actively read my Live Journal know what I am talking about with the changes the past few days.  Just waiting to see how long it lasts.  Anyway.. been idly doing things to keep me cusy.

Almost have Chapter 3 rewritten of Escape from Darkness.  The new direction I am taking it is making it a bit easier to write; I just have to rearrange a few things and edit others.  It'll be posted to the Spellbound chat forum and Deviant Art here soon.

Of the 56 products I have made for my IMVU catalgue (for those who don't know- IMVU is a 3-D chat messenger that I have more recently become addicted to since the summer and I do spend a lot of my time there) I have sold 26 items.  Some sell better than others, but it feels good that some actually like my items.  It's a bit of encouragement.  I still have 2 more photo backdrops I am working on and then I am going to be working on a few more wall hangings.  Since I have gone into designing homes on top of outfits now, I have created living arrangements tht fit for a few characters I've grown close to.  But they have familes so I have been thinking of attempting to make family portraits of a sort.   I can do it, but it's time consuming and it takes credits to submit that I don't really have nor can I really afford anymore if  am going to keep to our budget and manage to try to keep our heads floating above the surface of debt.  It was fun being able to afford 20,000 to 50,000 credits (and believe me those 50,000 credits were a HUGE help) as I was able to actually get what I needed and then some, but with so much in my wish list, I have to slow up and become very picky about what I choose to purchase with what I have now.  I know on the 13th of every month I get an extra 5,000 for being a VIP, but that's about it for now until Eric and I are more stable.  I think I'll just ask for IMVU prepaid cards or something for gifts if anyone asks XD.

Speaking of which, I understand that Christmas is fast approaching so I will be gathering a list for the girls, Eric, and me to post for those family seeking ideas.

Finances are a killer since he's been back.  Dropping near $300 overdrawn and not even having enough for gas to get through 2 weeks anymore because of all the extra running around we've been doing.... mostly Eric but we are helping a friend in need so we settle...  But this -$300 crap has got to stop.  I was so proud of myself for managing money so well while he was gone and now it's just been so difficult.  And I have to set money aside now so I can afford to get Kasha fixed and next round of shots updated when she reaches her proper age to have it done-which is coming up here soon.  A new friend, Rhi, told me about a company called S.C.R.A.P.S that if I register Kasha there for $8 they will give me a voucher that will cover a huge chunk of her vet bill to get her spayed.  I am going to be looking up the directions to that place.  $8 I can more easily afford right now than darn near $70  And any help we get is welcome lol.

Anyway, back to reason behind the post- Kitchen is clean, laundry is near to being done again.  When Xavier leaves I will vacuum before I lay down for the nap Eric said I could take.  I am digging into my old files and going to try to get back into my Eternal Love YGO fanfiction series again.  I've been getting several emails from readers on ff.net asking where I went to and if I was going to finish.  I think it's high time I kind of attempted to fix that.  So between my novel and EL, I thik I'll have enough to keep me busy.  That and I need to pop back ont DA to hop into the writing community I am a part of there to add the newest submissions to the gallery......

okay... I need a checklist ^_^;;

But I will do that later.  Time to make the kidlets lunch and check on the laundry before feeding the dog and cat.

Note to anyone trying to catch me: Internet's been wacky.  Sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off.  Leave me a message and I will catch you as I can.

<3

Hmm.....seems it's mostly LiveJournal and IMVU (the messenger- not the website) that's being affected at the moment.... how odd... Even MSN is working and that's usually more fussy than anything else...

Now for mostly the use of the Pentacle in the Wiccan setting. (information taken from here- link )

The pentacle is one of the most famous images within religious symbology and has great spiritual meaning to the Wiccan culture. Unfortunately due to its similarity to the inverted pentacle, the characteristic symbol of many satanic cults, the symbol has been perceived as an object of fear and mistrust by many people. In fact this reputation is completely undeserved, as both the pentacle and Wicca have no Satanic roots.

The art of Wicca or Witchcraft is a reconstructed form of Paganism fairly similar to the religious structure of the ancient Celts, based upon a spiritual connection with the Earth, it spirits, and its elements. The upright pentacle was originally the symbol of a Goddess known as Kore, who was worshiped over an area extending from Egypt to what is now present day England.  However, Wiccans believed the pentacle to be the symbol of the Goddess of the Underground known as Morgan, which they later adopted as their own symbol

To those outside the faith the pentacle is nothing more than an oddly shaped star, but to the Wiccans it is a bold statement about the universe and our place within it. The underlying message of the symbol is quite simple, that we have the ability to bring the "spirit" to Earth and we can only become a complete organism by doing this. Then five points of the pentacle are usually interpreted as the five factors needed to sustain life; fire, earth, water, air and the spirit. The circle around the outside represents the Goddess and refracts and reflects light, supposedly bringing intelligence, wisdom and protection to the wearer. The metaphysical elements and the placements on the pentacle are as follows:

Fire-

Fire is located on the lower right hand angle of the symbol and represents the element of fire. Metaphorically it also represents courage and daring.

Water-

Water is located on the upper right hand angle of the symbol, and represents the element of water. Metaphorically it also represents emotion and intuition.

Air-

Air is located on the upper left hand angle of the symbol, and represents the element of air. Metaphorically it also represents intelligence and the arts.

Earth-

Earth is located on the lower left hand angle of the symbol, and represents the element of earth. Metaphorically it also represents stability and physical endurance.

Spirit-

The spirit is located at the top point of the upright pentacle, receiving the pole position as the most important factor in the sustainability of life. Metaphorically the spirit represents the All and the Divine. During ceremonies the spirit rules over the four elements.

Traditionally the pentacles were manufactured from materials of varying cost, such as copper, sliver, gold and brass. Silver pentacles represent energy of the moon and the associated psychic energies, whereas gold versions represent the energy of the Sun, power and strength. During times of religious persecution they were often made from clay and dough, which were readily disposable and saved many Wiccans from being brunt alive.

more info can be continued here: link

HOW IS THE PENTACLE USED IN WICCAN LIFE

Being a highly important symbol, the pentacle is a symbol always used for personal, spiritual and ritual uses. It is used to bless others and ourselves by making the sign of the pentacle across our bodies.  Before, during and after rituals it is used to bless sacred space, tools and all objects that are used in ritual, ceremony and spells. It is a protective talisman against negative energy and forces.

An intresting story regarding it can be found here by its writer: link

For time, I will repeat it.

When man was young he/she stood on the tallest mountain and reached up to try to grab the moon. Instead a star fell into the hand. A six-pointed star. As they held it in their hand, a deity came from the north, took a point of the star and threw it back to the heavens. "This will light the way so that you will never be lost." they said. Then, the deity kissed the person on the mouth twice. The deity told the person, "I am of water. Come to me when your thirst is dry or your belly is empty and I shall grant you feast and drink." As a few more deities came, one said "I am Earth. I dwell in the east." As another said, "I am Fire. I dwell in the south." Then, the last one said, "I am Air. I dwell in the west. We will guide you as well as help to keep you warm or cool, as well as provide feast and drink. Keep your eyes and heart open, as there are more deities to meet. Remember where you come from and know where you are. For that you are the last point of the star, Spirit."

The pentagram is also "used for protection. to banish energy, or to bring it to you, depending on how it's drawn," wrote a Wiccan visitor.

So as you can see there are many meanings this misunderstood symbol has carried with it. More of them have been good than bad. A symbol has meaning primarily to the wearer and therefore one should learn the meaning that the bearer is influenced by before one allows one's prejudices to condemn an individual. We have many dividing factors and stereotypes and hatreds in the American culture that could easily be dispelled by a little education and a lot of understanding.  Everything has a good and bad side to it. Even the Christian cross. Where there is good, there must always be evil. So be careful and I wish you well. Do what ye will, but do ye none harm.

Blessed Be

In continuation from the first blog...

The meaning of Pentacles/Pentagrams to their users

There is no single consensus on the significance of these symbols. Various groups use and define them quite differently:

* Wiccans have attempted to reconstruct a Pagan religion similar to that of the ancient Celts. They have adopted the upright pentacle/pentagram, since it was the symbol of Morgan, an ancient Celtic goddess. Many wear it as jewelry and use it on their altars. The symbol is frequently traced by hand using an athame (a ritual knife) during Wiccan rituals. It is used to cast and banish their healing circles. Some Wiccans interpret the five points as representing earth, air, fire, water, and spirit -- the five factors needed to sustain life. Others relate the points to the four directions and spirit.  Some Wiccans and other Neopagans bless themselves and others with the sign of the pentagram. Their hand passes from their forehead to one hip, up to the opposite shoulder, across to the other shoulder, down to the opposite hip and back to the forehead. Some of the more highly structured Wiccan traditions have used an inverted pentagram to represent a second or third degree status. "Many of these groups have since substituted a triangle form for the same degrees because of the association of the inverted form of the pentacle with Satanism and black magic."

* Ceremonial magicians also use the pentagram. Its points can "represent various elemental energies, spirits or deities."

* The Order of the Eastern Star is a international humanitarian organization composed of women who are wives of advanced Masons. They use an inverted pentacle as their symbol. Essentially all Eastern Star members in North America are Christians.

* The Rosicrucian movement consists of groups of Christian mystics. They frequently use a wand, sword, cup and pentagram as tools during their rituals. The pentagram represents "earth, matter and stability."

* The Masonic Order associate the five points of the pentagram with "Five Points of Fellowship." However, its "use in Masonry is vestigial and peripheral."  Again, almost all Masons in North America are Christians.

The meaning of Pentacles/Pentagrams to Christians

Because liberal and conservative Christians interpret the Bible in different ways, they have developed very different belief systems over time, and agree on very few points. This disagreemnt carries over into their understanding of pentacles and pentagrams.

Liberal Christians generally view Satan as a principle of evil rather than as a living entity. Those who are familiar with Wicca and Satanism are aware of the lack of similarity of the two religions (this was covered in another post I made earlier in the year):

* Wiccans do not recognize the existence of the Christian quasi-deity, Satan. They have no all-evil deity in their pantheon of gods and goddesses. Satanists recognize Satan (or one of his precursors) as either a living deity or a principle.

* Wiccans are prohibited by their Wiccan Rede from harming, manipulating or controlling others. Satanists, on the other hand, are free to use magic to harm their enemies.

* Wiccans follow an gentle, nature-based, aboriginal religion that is similar to that of Native American spirituality. Satanists practice indulgence, gratification and vengeance, rather than concern for all humans and for the environment.

* Many religious liberals view the Wiccan upright pentacle or pentagram as an elegant, spiritual symbol that represents life. They see the Satanic inverted pentacle or Sigil of Baphomet as primarily representing a self-centered religion.

Fundamentalist and other Evangelical Christians generally have an entirely different view of Wicca, Satanism and other religions. This is influenced by some of their beliefs. In many, but not all cases:

* Since they believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, they regard as true those passages which state that the gods and goddesses worshiped by other religions are, in reality, Satan or his demons.

* They regard Satan as a living entity, a living, quasi deity who is totally dedicated to destroying people's lives and ruining their faith. They regard themselves as being in continuous "spiritual warfare" -- a personal battle with Satan and his demons.

* They regard Satanism as having existed as an organized movement, murdering and performing "black masses" for may centuries. This contrasts with a consensus of modern historians that: "no reliable historical sources indicate that such organizations existed; the black mass appears only once in the sources before the late nineteenth century."

* They do not differentiate between Wicca and Satanism. Because they consider the Wiccan gods and goddesses to be Satanic or demonic, they regard the two religions as very similar.

* They commonly believe that Satanists, (and by extension, Wiccans) engage in Satanic Ritual Abuse and murder. Belief in SRA is gradually diminishing, but remains still at a high level.

* Books by conservative Christian authors about Wicca and Satanism are based primarily on books by other Christian authors, rather than on primary religious sources. Some of the ideas put forth in these books as truth can be traced back to 15th century Christian propaganda during the Burning Times.

Many conservative Christians do not differentiate between Wicca and Satanism, or between upright and inverted pentacles/pentagrams. All are viewed as symbols representing evil, violence and lawlessness.

I was recently asked about the Pentacle symble on my profile.  I came to decide that I wanted to add this information with the public information I posted about Wicca earlier this year.

First, I must state that the Pentacle means different things to different people, so it really depends on the person you ask.  This is what I was able to find in the research of it.  To many people it symbolizes satanic worship or involvement in some way with evil or black magick. That is the furthest thing from the truth. My spiritual and religious pursuits are life affirming. However, as I said, others can look at it and think otherwise if they don't know and don't take the time to look into it more.

Upright Pentacle/Pentagram

Upright pentacles and pentagrams are among the most widely used religious symbols. They have been used in many eras and by many cultures and religions of the world: by ancient Pagans, ancient Israelites, Christians, magicians, Wiccans and others. The following pentagram-using groups are listed in chronological order:

This symbol apparently originated as the symbol of a Goddess who was worshiped over an area which extends from present-day England to Egypt and beyond. Her name was Kore (a.k.a. Car, Cara, Carnac, Ceres, Core, Kar, Karnak, Kaur, Kauri, Ker, Kerma, Kher, Kore, Q're, etc.). As Carmenta she was said to have invented the Roman alphabet. From her alternative Roman name Ceres have evolved many English words: cardiac, carnal, cereal, core, corn, and kernel. The port of Caraalis, (now Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia), was named after her.

Kore's sacred fruit is the apple. When an apple is cut through its equator, both halves will reveal a near-perfect pentagram shape at the core, with each point on the star containing a seed. Many Wiccans, other Neopagans and Roma (Gypsies) continue to cut apples in this way. The Roma refer to the core as the Star of Knowledge.

In ancient Greece, Pythagoras (586 - 506 BCE) established a school which pursued knowledge in mathematics, music, religion, and other specialties. Driven underground, his followers used the pentagram as a secret sign to identify themselves to each other. The Masonic Order has traditionally traced its origins back 2,500 years to the Pythagoreans.

Kore was worshiped within the Coptic Gnostic Christian religion in Alexandria, Egypt, during the 4th century CE. Her festival, the Koreion, was held yearly on JAN-6. This was adopted by the Christian church as Feast of Epiphany (a.k.a. Twelfth Night).  This date is still celebrated as Jesus' birthday in Armenian churches, and is observed with more pomp than is Christmas by the Greek Orthodox church.

In England, the Koreion became the Kirn - the Feast of Ingathering. The Christian church later adopted it to the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy.

During the times of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), the pentacle was the first and most important of the Seven Seals - an amulet whose seals represented the seven secret names of God. It was inscribed on King Solomon's ring, which is often called Solomon's Seal in error.  Each point of the pentagram was also interpreted as referring to the five books of the Pentateuch - the first five books in the Hebrew Scriptures; the Torah.

The Celts believed that the pentacle was the sign of the Goddess of the Underground, who they called Morgan (a.k.a. Morrigan). The concept of five points seems to have permeated at least one of the Celtic lands. "Ireland had five great roads, five provinces and five paths of the law. The fairy folk counted by fives, and the mythological figures wore five fold cloaks."

In Christian times:

* The five points of the pentagram have been interpreted as representing the five wounds of Christ (2 wrist, 2 ankle and 1 side).

* The Roman Emperor Constantine used the pentagram in his seal and amulet.

* It has been referred to as the Star of Bethlehem

It was used to symbolize the star which allegedly led three Zoroastrian astrologers to the baby Jesus; it was called the Three Kings' star.

* The English warrior Sir Gawain, a nephew of King Arthur, adopted the pentagram as his personal symbol and placed it on his shield.  It appeared in gold on a red background. The five points symbolized "the five knightly virtues - generosity, courtesy, chastity, chivalry and piety."

* Tarot cards originally had a suit of coins or discs. These were changed in the 19th century to pentacles when the Tarot became associated with the Kabbalah. They eventually became the suit of diamonds in modern playing cards.

* It has been widely used by past Christians as a protective amulet.

* During the burning times when the Christian church burned alive or hung hundreds of thousands of innocent people, the meaning of the pentagram changed. It began to symbolize a goat's head or the devil in the form of Baphomet. "The folk-symbol of security - for the first time in history - was equated with evil and was called the Witch's Foot."

The religion of Wicca is based in part on ancient Celtic deities, symbols, days of celebration, etc. The pentacle and pentagram are their main symbols.

Many religious and spiritual groups use the pentacle or pentagram today.

Inverted Pentacle/Pentagram

Some religious and spiritual groups have used the inverted pentacle.

During the 20th century, Satanists inverted the upright pentacle and adopted it as their own symbol. However, the symbol is most commonly shown with the head of a goat within the pentagram.

Sigl of Baphomet

The inverted pentacle with a goat's head is called the Sigl of Baphomet. The term may have come from two Greek words, baphe and metis, meaning "absorption of knowledge." It has also been called the Black Goat, Devil's Goat, Goat Head, Goat of Mendes, and Judas Goat. Its first appearance appears to have been during the vicious interrogation of members of the Knights Templar by the Christian Inquisition. There was little consensus among different victims' descriptions of the Baphomet. It can probably be safely assumed that their description of the Baphomet is more a product of the Inquisition's torture methods than of any actual statue that was in use by the Knights.

"In the 20th. century Karl Kellner and other German occultists formed the secret order of the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientis or Order of Templars in the East). They installed the English occultist Aleister Crowley to head their British section. Crowley took Baphomet as his magical name.

Today, the Baphomet is widely used by religious Satanists. The Church of Satan also uses a second symbol which is an infinity sign (a figure 8 on its side). A Roman cross is placed on top with a second, longer cross piece added beneath the top cross piece.

Current mood:  busy

I was asked once about any links that I might have known that could better help someone understand Wicca a little better.  This will include some links and  some personal feelings regarding it and my experiences of it.

When it comes to researching Wicca, there are a lot of sites that offer a good deal of information and are actually accurate.  A lot of other sites out there really are not that informative.  But whatever you read,  remember to read with your heart, for it is when you see life and the world with your heart and spirit that you truly gain an understanding of what Wicca is.

First, I want to clarify up front that Witchcraft and Wicca, while similar in many respects, are not the same.  One can be a Witch, without being a Wiccan, just as a person can be a Christian, without being a Baptist.  Further more, Wicca is a recognized religion, while Witchcraft itself is not considered a religion.  Thus, Wicca might best be described as a modern religion, based on ancient Witchcraft traditions.   Wicca is a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of thinking and life which promotes oneness with the divine and all which exists.  Wicca is not a cult.   We do not proclaim ourselves to be spokespersons for the divine or try to get others to follow us as their leaders.  We do not worship Satan or consort with Demons.   Satan is a Christian creation and they can keep him.   We do not need a paranoid creation of supreme evil and eternal damnation to scare us into doing the right thing and helping others.   We choose to do the right thing and love our brothers and sisters because it IS the right thing and it feels good to do it.  We do not sacrifice animals or humans because that would violate our basic tenant of "Harm None."   Anyone who does and claims to be a Wiccan is lying.  We have no need to steal or control the life force of another to achieve mystical or supernatural powers.   We draw our energy from within, our personal relationship with the divine and nature.   We do not use the forces of nature or the universe to hex or cast spells on others.   Again, "Harm None" is the whole of the law.

Wiccans hold a very strict belief in the Law of Three which states that whatever we send out into our world shall return to us three fold either good or not.   With this in mind, a "True Wiccan" would hesitate in doing magick to harm or manipulate another because that boomerang we throw will eventually come back to us much larger and harder then when we threw it.

( The information above came from here:  What Is Wicca?  )

Being a Wiccan is generally not something you are born as or just wake up one morning and decide to become. More often than not, you come across it by accident unless you were raised that way. Many find the philosophies of how Wicca  views nature are the same as the one's they currently hold. They just didn't know there was a specific belief system that shared the same views.

Second, I need to explain that I am what is more accurately known as an Eclectic Wiccan- or Solitary Wiccan.   I don't belong to a coven.  I practice and study on my own, though I do sometimes seek out the knowledge of a couple of friends who are more versed than I am.  It is known for witchcraft, yes, but not in an evil form.  I don't cast spells on others.  It is actually against the Rede (belief- if you will- and it's pronounced "reed") to do so.  However, I have used my knowledge to help others at times in the past.  When someone asked me about crystals and herbs- that was using my knowledge from my studies into Wicca.  See, each Wiccan tends to have an Element and a specific focus that they are drawn to.  My main Element is Air, but I have an affinity to Water as well.  My focus is that of herbs, incense, and crystals/gemstones.  I can use gemstones and crystals in ways to help cleanse a spirit and help in meditations.  I can use them in a meditation setting in balancing the spirit by uniting the "chakra" points along the human body ( More on Chakras can be found here  ).  I know which gemstone/crystal goes on what point and which one to focus more energy on to help work on a specific ailment.  Like for headaches, I have been able to go without ibuprofen by rubbing the point of a clear quartz crystal against my temple and focusing healing energy to that point.  I doubted it at first when I tried it, but after clearing my mind, relaxing and concentrating, I was actually able to feel the difference.  Now granted, if the girls are sick, I take them to a doctor.  But for me, this works.

Also, unlike a lot of other Wiccans, I don't participate in sexual orgies or other sexual rituals. There are rituals that include it, but those rituals I am not a part of and that's okay.  I practice as I please and in my own way and I am not shunned for it.  I am still openly accepted and welcomed. So I can keep my loyalties where I feel they belong and continue to practice Wicca without being shut out from the community.  I am still considered their "Sister".

I used to actually be able to do Tarot cards really well until my deck was stolen.  I have since fallen out of practice as I cannot buy my own deck.  The deck has to be gifted to me or else it does not correctly match with my energy.  It sounds odd, but it's the way.  However, I am very studied in dream interpretations.   I have been able to help a lot of people find solutions to problems in their life just by getting a details description of their dreams and tearing them apart bit by bit to seek out the hidden meaning.  It takes a lot of time, but worth it in the end.  The biggest thing is that Wicca is all about Nature and the world around us.  It's a celebration of life and the paths we take.  It embraces everyone open to it.  It teaches about negative energies and how to live a life of love and light.  Day by day, I am letting go more and more of negative things within myself and my past.  I am moving forward more and more with a clearer head.  There is no direct being that I hand my life over.  I create my own destiny.  If I don't like something, I, myself, has to change it.  I can seek the spiritual guidance of other Gods and Goddess (think Greek, Roman, Egyptian- and any others as they all play a big part in Wiccan rites)- and if I respect them, I will receive the guidance I seek- however I do still have to learn things on my own in order for the lessons to be learned.  There is no Satan in this belief.  No real sin.  No Hell, no Heaven- just an Afterlife where we all are united in the end.  No need to fear death or the endless possibilities that comes with it.  There is a set of beliefs and laws that I do have to follow- but they are common sense really.

There are several other books, too, these are just the ones I knew of right off the bat.  I do hope some of the links at least help.  And I am perfectly willing to explain more.  I understand a lot of the books say Witchcraft, but please remember- they are similar but not the same.  Just a lot of Wiccan aspects are discussed at great lengths in some of those books.  It's actually a really welcoming religion that can bring a sense of calm and comfort to me.  I am hoping some of the links at least can help you see what I found.

Best wishes to those who choose this path and may you walk it with Love and Light in your heart.

Blessed Be.

Current mood:  busy

In my research of Wicca, I came across several sites of interest.  I can and most likely will link to all of them here in a minute, but first I want to do this.

There is a lot of misconceptions about those who are involved with Wicca.  Contrary to some beliefs, Wicca is not an evil religion at all.  I will go into more of this later, though.  I want to share this first.

Rising Phoenix had a blog up on their MySpace that really said a lot and I was given permission to share this with anyone curious enough to give it a read through.  My next blog will include more info on Wicca as well.

What Is Wicca?
History

Wicca is a neo-pagan religion based on the pre-Christian traditions of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Its origins can be traced even further back to Paleolithic peoples who worshipped a Hunter God and a Fertility Goddess. Cave paintings found in France (and dated at 30,000 years old) depict a man with the head of a stag, and a woman with a swollen, pregnant belly. They stand in a circle
with eleven mortals. These archetypes of the divine are worshipped by Wiccans to this very day. By these standards, the religion that is now called Wicca, is perhaps the oldest religion in the world.

In 1951, the laws against Witchcraft were repealed in England. A man named Gerald Gardner was the first to come into the public eye with a description of what modern witches were practicing. His information came from the traditions of a coven called the New Forest Witches, and from Ceremonial Magick and the Cabballah. He began what is now called the Gardnerian Tradition of Wicca. From Gardnerian came Alexandrian Tradition, and a host of other off shoots that today number in the hundreds.

Misconceptions

For two thousand years the image of the Witch has been associated with evil, heathenism, and blasphemy. These ideas have their origin in Christian myths created to convert members of the  Old Religion to that of the new. By making the Witch into a diabolical character of ill intent and action, the Christian missionaries were able to attach fear to a word that had once meant Healer, Wise One, and Seer. These fears are present to this day. When we think of the archetypal
image of the Witch, we remember the evil enchantress of childhood tales. We think of an old, wrinkled hag with a nasty wart on her nose. We think of hexes, and devils, and foul incantations chanted around a bubbling cauldron. While we modern witches have been known to stir up herbal remedies in a cauldron, we are a far cry indeed from the horrifying Wicked Witch of the West!

Witches Do Not Worship Satan. To believe in Satan, one must subscribe to the Christian mythos.  We do not. Wicca does not have any belief in, nor do we worship a concept of evil incarnate. All life  is perceived as a constant flow of positive and negative energies, which intertwine to create the balance of life. The only evil ever observed in the world has come from Man. There are no ax-murderers, or child-abusers to be found in the animal kingdom, or in nature as a whole.

Witches Do Not Cast Evil Spells. Modern Witches have a very strict belief in the Law of Return. Whatever we send out into our world shall return to us, so even the most ill-tempered Witch would not. consider doing magick to harm another being. The spells that we do involve things like Healing, Love, Wisdom, Creativity, and Joy. The "potions" that we stir might be a headache remedy, or a cold tonic, or an herbal flea bath for the family dog.

Beliefs

Immanent Divinity. Wiccans believe that the spirit of God/dess exists in every living thing: in the trees, the rain, the flowers, the sea, and in each other. This means that we must treat our peers, and all the beings of the Earth as aspects of the Divine. We attempt to honour and respect life, in all its many and diverse expressions.

Nature. Wiccans learn from and worship nature by celebrating the cycles of the sun, and the cycles of  the moon. We look into ourselves for the cycles within that correspond to those of the natural world,  and try to move in harmony with the movement of life. Our teachers come in the form of trees, rivers, lakes, meadows, and mountains, as well as other humans who have walked the path before us. This belief  infers a reverence and respect for the environment, and all of life upon the Earth We revere the spirits of the elements that create our world. Air, Fire, Water, and Earth combine to manifest all creation. From  these four elements we gain wisdom, and understanding of how the universe unfolds. The rhythms of
nature are the rhythms of our lives. Wiccans attempt to dance in step with the pulse of the Earth.

Other Faiths. Modern Witches believe in freedom first! We do not choose to look at our path as the "one true right way," but as one path among many to the center. We do not convert new members to the Craft, nor do  we advertise or prosteletize. We believe that anyone who is meant for this path will find it through their own search. Wiccans practice tolerance and acceptance toward all other religions, as long as those faiths do not preach or commit harm to others.

Afterlife. Most Witches believe in reincarnation of some sort, whether it be the Eastern version known as the Transmigration of Souls (the spirit incarnating one body after another in an effort to learn all the life lessons that it can), or Ancestral Incarnation (where the spirit and life lessons of the grandfather transmute to the
granddaughter, and so on down the genetic line). The latter is a more traditionally Celtic approach, but  both are accepted.

Sin.  In Wicca, we do not have a specific concept of sin. There is no heaven or hell that souls will go to based  on their worldly actions. Wrong-doing is governed and determined by the individual conscience. With the belief in the Law of Return, one's actions will determine one's future. The individual is therefore responsible for his or her own fate, based on what he or she chooses to do internally and externally in the world.

Ethics.   Wicca has but one law of action and ethics. It is called the Wiccan Rede or the Wiccan Law, and can be  found under the Reading Room category of the same name. "And ye harm none" covers almost everything that the Ten Commandments do: don't lie, don't steal, don't cheat, etc. It encourages us to strive not to harm any  living thing - including ourselves - except perhaps to survive. Whether this means that you must become a vegetarian or a passivist is up to the individual. The Wiccan Law serves as a guideline to action, not a mandate.   The only law that the Ten Commandments express that is not covered by the Wiccan Law is that of marriage  and adultery. In Wicca, love itself is sanctified, with or without government authorization. As long as two individuals share a sincere bond of love that does not harm either party, it does not matter if they are legally
joined, if they are heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or interracial.

Leadership vs. Hierarchy. There is no Arch Bishop of Wicca. There is no one person or organization that determines  the practices and beliefs of Wicca as a whole. Instead, Wicca is formed of small nebulas groups and solitaries  who are charged with the leadership of themselves. Wicca is a religion of clergy, not followers. Each person who seriously pursues the Craft, whether it be through study in a particular tradition, or through self-teaching and  private learning, has the choice to become a priest or priestess of Wicca. Most modern traditions of Wicca offer
a three year program of learning that will bring the student to the level of High Priest or Priestess.

Churches and Temples. Wiccans do not usually have churches created specifically for the worship of the gods. Our temple is found in nature, among the creations of the divine. We meet in a circle that represents the Circle of Life
and the equality that we share. There is no head, no top, no beginning and no end. When necessary, our circles take place indoors in houses, apartments, or wherever we can find a sacred, protected space. But ideally, a circle will take  place in a grove beneath the stars, with the silver moon shining down from above.

Magick. Witches believe in the power of magick to create change. A prominent Wiccan author named Starhawk defines magick as "the art of changing consciousness at will." By being in tune with the rhythms of life, we can create change for ourselves and for our world. We use herbs, oils, colours, stones, crystals, and other symbolic materials to represent the change we wish to create. Wiccans believe that the individual is responsible for his or her own reality. If there is something that is not healthy, or conducive to happiness and growth, we have the power to change it. As aspects of  the divine, we are each Creator and Creatress, filled with the power to manifest all that we dream of or desire.

What is Wicca?  Wicca is a forest in the light of the silvery moon...a glade enchanted by the light of the Faery. It is the  dewdrop on the petals of a flower in bloom, the warmth of the summer sun on the skin, the fall of colourful autumn
leaves, and the softness of winter snow upon the Earth. It is light, and shadow and all that lies in between. It is  the song of the wind, and the tune of the tides. It is the symphony of life! To be a Witch is to be a healer, a teacher,  a seeker, a giver, and a protector of all things living and alive. If this path be yours, may you tread it with honour  and with light!

Part 2 will have some repeat information and will mos likey be a Friends Only Post as it deals with some personal aspects.  I just wanted to share this with anyone who was interested in learning.  Be it to better understand- or to just simply read and know.  Hope it helps anyone interested.

I took the driving test today.  Had some help as my friend Marcia allowed me the use of her car to take it.  I missed like 2 small things but otherwise I passed the drivering test so I was able to get my license today!!  So yup, I am legal to drive again.  Go me.

A friend always told me that where some things might be going wrong, other things will prove that things will be okay.  Maybe this is a sign of sorts... things really will one day be okay.
