Current mood:  crunk
On this, the anniversary of the moon landing, I thought it appropriate to introduce you to some other heavenly bodies in which the souls of great friends and musicians dwell.

Nick Berg, Travis Whitty and Todd Umhoeffer (keys, bass and drums, respectively) are now members in what is underwhelmingly still being billed as Conrad Plymouth.  We have several shows under our-- I guess singular-- belt, and I am excited about the trajectory we have charted.

We plan on having a record in one format or another for you by the end of August.  As the old axiom goes, "If you shoot for the moon, you might just make an album."

I've been playing with Nick Berg who is better than me and listens and thinks and... it's really quite nice.  We've been writing new songs and fixing old ones.  Look for new recorded material to materialize.

Now for the usual ephemera regarding new players, records, rumors of records, higher profile shows, et cetera...

...

Here's to headstones, dial tones, chicken bones and flask phones.

Happy New Year.

Very Truly [up] Yours,

The phenomenal band Laarks agreed to back me up when I go back to my musical hometown of Eau Claire, WI later in August. They needed demos to learn the songs by, so I finally sat down and quickly rerecorded some songs for them to learn from. I have some of them up here-- they are a little cleaner and more straightforward than the original versions.

Be well, and heavens' sake, check out Laarks.

If you haven't heard, Bookhouse is on hiatus for the time being. Time is zero-sum; something had to give.

The positive byproduct of the Bookhouse halt is that I have been able to take more solo shows and concentrate on new stuff. Thanks to all who have invited me to share bills.

Skip over to the Bookhouse page to view footage from our only public performances. Thanks again to WMSE for having us over and for making us look and sound cool.

Don't be denied.

Be well,

cp

Current mood:  exhausted
Thanks to all who came to be a part of Sunday's events in EC. Your support was deeply felt. Most deeply felt was the support of Sean Carey, who kindly sat in on the drum kit and blew my mind. Some of it is still dripping out of my ears if I tilt my head to one side for too long.

Thanks to Vern for being such an influence; I'm proud of your growth, friend.

Thanks to Tal and Mike for taking the time and making the drive. We'll get this bird off the ground yet. And Patrick, thanks to you for being the original foil. We'll have you back soon.

Drummer and bass player wanted; apply within.

Some new songs to be up soon.

Love,

cp

I/we have a few shows coming up, and then we won't have any for a while. But I might.

We/I are/am looking forward to the unretirement of my childhood friend/former band mate/drinking buddy/service industry compatriot/unfairly gifted songwriter Josh Scott, to take place on the day of Mexican independence in the town where we once lived.

Lineup updates:

Mike has been accepted to grad school at IIT. That's not ITT, mind you. He will see us through the Eau Claire show, then we will wish him well.

Patrick will be going on the road with Matt Sharp and his reformed Rentals for their summer tour. We will wish him, and his marriage, well.

I will be trying to be able to quit my job, striving to write better songs, endorsing Reverend guitars and amps, teaching my dog how to stay, getting a good sunburn, and rereading all the books I've skimmed.

I will also be looking for a bass player, drummer and keyboard player.

See you around.

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.

I've been lucky enough to reconnect with a college friend in the area, Patrick Boland, who has been invalueable in fleshing out song ideas, texturing, and generally being a great creative foil.  His patient and meticulous nature have helped balance out my lack thereof, and the resulting collaboration has been very rewarding for me. The version of "Tapes" that is up was done at his house one afternoon.  More tracks to follow shortly.

And then there were two.

Still looking for other like-minded people to round out a full band.  We have a few nibbles, and are looking forward to landing the right players.

Unitl next time,

It's been a while, and a lot has changed.

For one, I am married.  Congratulations, you say?  Thank you.

Second, I may have inadvertantly burned some old bridges and made some new ones.  Time and place, I guess.  I saw Heidi Spencer perform after the Milwaukee Film Festival--where her short was screened, I might add--and frankly, I was floored.  The Voice.  She is the very real deal, friends.  She has also graciously invited me to open for her on Friday December 2nd, see the calandar for details.  She is also on myspace/heidileighspencer.

Third, some of the less-recent songs have become kind of hollow.  I have posted a couple of newer ideas culled from the four-track tape recorder in the office.  I may post others;  probably not.

Fourth, I am updating my ipod.

Fifth, I dropped a handome bundle to get my pedal steel operational again.  I may be looking for a songwriter/band that I can believe in to back up.  Interested parties, feel free to contact me.

Thanks for caring;  be well.

Thank you to everyone who came to the show at the House of Rock 5/25.  You all were an incredible crowd.  Thanks for everything.  Be well, Eau Claire.  It's been a good run.
