Double Negative, Violet Vector and the Lovely Lovelies, Hammer No More the Fingers, Lonnie Walker

This is a showcase for four of the eight artists featured in this year's News & Observer Great 8, which is an annual feature spotlighting eight local bands to watch in the coming year. It's always a mix of poppier bands whom the average N&O music-section reader might dig, and a few wild-cards (here, blistering hardcore band Double Negative) who've achieved a level of prominence big enough to qualify as news. (In the case of Double Negative, being invited to play the UK All Tomorrow's Parties curated by the Melvins certainly counts.)

If one still believed that daily papers had any real power or authority, one could spend a bit too much time analyzing the selection, and/or griping about all the bands who got left out. But it's 2009, and given the modern landscape of daily print journalism, it's pretty amazing that the paper's editors were willing to devote the column-inches at all, let alone provide the resources to put together such a snazzy multimedia package.
Looks like this shit is gonna start around 9, maybe? We're playing in the middle(money in the middle). We've been trying to post this all week on our upcoming show listing but Myspace won't let it happen...yea yea...this myspace sucks sometimes. Hopefully we'll see ya'll there.

And around the 1:30 of the early morning the Double arrived Negative, the crowning of the tomato. The American band practices one of the hardcore classical stupider than I have seen in my life (and that also caused the pogo more murderous than I have seen never, we leave beeping of first row shitting milks to the 10 seconds of beginning the concert). Time of action: 25 minutes in which they sounded not less than 12 themes. The singer was completely delivered and gotten out of control, without stopping of being launched against the public as a lunatic. The clasp of gold they put it with a cover version of the Straight Edge of the Minor Threat that put me the nipples as bells. The performance of the Double Negative had been a fantastic crowning of festival but we decide to be going to see that is cooked in the brain of Tom Jenkinson AKA Squarepusher.
