New Releases Wiggle is SCREECHING WEASEL's 4th full-length and 3rd in the Recess preservation act of all things Weasel. Ok now we really understand that theres a strong Ramones influence. When this one was first released i heard a coupla "Ramones tribute band!" and a coupla "Oh yea?! Lets hear em do "QUESTIONINGLY"!!". Ok maybe i didnt hear the latter. but still, there's super new wave hints while still holding onto a tiny shred of the earlier, Crimpshrine-y bits. Their version of Teenage Head's "AIN'T GOT NO SENSE" rivals the original...in my opinion. The band didn't find this their best record due to a rush to get a My Brain Hurts follow up and maybe some unfair expectations but i think its one of their best.

And because our Ambassador to The Kids license has not yet expired we give you bonus tracks, never before seen photos (like you care), super buff gatefold jacket, and 4 editions of colored vinyl. Yea... i know!

I will be the first to admit that the Recess online mailorder website was shoddy, at best, in the past. Luckily i’m a wise bast and spent about 65 hours uploading stuff for this new one. I did it for you, Damien! There is tons of radicool features like order history, reviews, permanent cart, etc etc but more importantly there is TONS more stuff!

What Alley Cats do to the New Cat on the Block
Yea sad indeed. Meower got fucked up by some bully cat in the hood. Cost me $442!! But rest assured he will be ok! I also got messed up with gauze and blood oozin outta my mouth, but this cat was the dentist. So if you can use that shopping cart as mentioned above to get some ever needed records that will help me out at the same time. ain't life grand?
Don't worry sweet baby boy! I will avenge you by nailing every cat in the neighborhood to ensure i got the right one....Charly Bronson style!

Erika Hynes, co-owner of Little Type Mailorder has passed away after a long illness. Lookout! Records co-founder Larry Livermore made this statement:

Erika "Crumbly" Hynes passed away this afternoon. She was at home, having been discharged from the hospital this morning, and surrounded by people who loved her. She was conscious up until five or ten minutes before her death, and laughing and smiling at the messages I was reading to her from some of her online buddies.

The cause of her death was complications from liver failure. She had been ill for a long time, and as of a few days ago the doctors informed the family that there was nothing more they could do for her. A liver transplant was ruled out because her body was too weak and could never have stood the shock of surgery.

Although her illness was long and difficult, Erika's actual passing was gentle and without pain or trauma. She had been longing to leave the hospital and see her beloved home again, and today she finally got her wish. She was lying in her own bed, with familiar faces and things around her, got to see her little dog Lucy once more, and take one last peek at the internet before settling back into her pillows and going to sleep.
Our condolences to Erika's friends and family.

SCREECHING WEASEL "My Brain Hurts" Gatefold LP (Recess&035;117)

Part 2 of the Screeching Weasel vinyl preservation effort is my favorite Lookout release. I realize that is a very bold statement considering their catalog housed many amazing releases by The Queers, Green Day, Operation Ivy, Pinhead Gunpowder, Crimpshrine and, of course, the Blatz/Filth split. But My Brain Hurts is that special. I always felt that Screeching Weasel found more in common with The Dickies than The Ramones, and this record is why. Ben Weasel had songwriting talent before this record, but this, I suspect, is the record where he actually realized that himself, without taking the whole thing too seriously. Punk and Rock n Roll are inherently stupid. That's what makes it sooo good. Although there is plenty of that here, there are also some of the most intelligent lyrics, as well as intelligent hooks. For proof, listen to 3 consecutive songs "Science of Myth", "What We Hate", and "Teenage Freakshow". It gives me goosebumps to think that the band themselves prolly thought they were just making a stupid punk rock record.

"My Brain Hurts" was originally released in 1991 on Lookout Records and is considered by many to be one of the best Screeching Weasel albums. Now re-issued on four different kinds of colored vinyl, 500 of each color! (Clear, White, Orange, & Pink!) Gatefold cover has all-new artwork by Cristy Road.

NOTE! If you order multiple copies you will get different colors if available. If you have a preference you can email me.

Audacity-Power Drowning LP white vinyl (Recess118)

I saw these guys on a boat and thought they were the best band i have seen while skimming on the Pacific ocean! From the first few chords they reminded me of Jerrys Kids. Like very early Jerrys Kids,as well as a slew of other early '80's hardcore bands, but within 1 minute into a song everything changed and i thought "Now they sound like The Bananas!". Yea i put a quote on thoughts. so what?! They even do "Dicks Hate Police".
Split release with Burger Records! ..

Thanx to everyone who attended or helped out with The Underground Railroad to Candyland tour. It was a very trying tour to say the least. First we had the Macon,GA incident, which was life changing until some real real bad news came. First Jamie Ewing from Bent Outta Shape died. One of the most sweetest people i have ever met! Great songwriter, great voice, great band. Stray Dog Town is one of my all time favorite releases i have put out and never really put that one down. I cant find the courage to listen to it yet due to some wicked emotions but it'll be back on my turntable in no time to celebrate that boys great existence.

Then we find out that Brian Turd,of Les Turds fame, got shot 9 times fatally while walking his dog in New Orleans. This left me speechless. So many good times were had with Brian, Dean and the rest of the gang that i will never forget. I will always remember with a laugh at the time me and him were in a huge record store in FL and he puts on the headphones at the listening booth and yelled across the jam packed store "YO TODD!!! NEW METALLICA!!!!!" while headbanging. Horned hands course!

It felt kinda strange that i met these people on the road and found out about their passings on the road. Although theres tons of grief I feel very lucky to have known these people! As well as all the people that are still with us. oki doki, todd

DEAR LANDLORD/CHINESE TELEPHONES split 7"

I had to scroll down this lackluster, at best, Dreamweaver file to
find out when the last time i did a split 7". Lets just agree that
its been awhile. I dunno why cos its a format that got me thru years of
shitty throwaway B sides and turned me onto some pretty great bands. Ah
ok enough "those were the days" crap! Dear Landlord is Zack
& Half Pint from Rivethead and Fletcher & Brett from The Copyrights.
Obviously if you liked any one of those bands you will love their side
of this! Zach has not skipped a beat with his great songs. For those of
you who wished Rivethead never broke up can stop throwing their stupid
pennys in the well now. Chinese Telephones are consistently recording
some great stuff! I think they are a hybrid of D4 and The Marked Men.
If you heard their great side off The Potential Johns split 12" then
your already hooked. go for it!

Split release with the lovely It's Alive Records.

Purple vinyl+limited=hurry!

THE ARRIVALS "marvels of industry" LP $8 CD $10 (You can order
cd now!)

I was excited as
all hell when one of my favorite bands, not only my favorite of all
active bands but one of my favorites of all time, asked me to do their
next album, but i can compare the initial excitement to a piece of hamster
pie when i set it next to how i felt when i first heard the master to
this album! I had unforgiving goosebumps for 3 weeks straight! I dunno
how to say this without sounding like a used car salesman but THERE
IS NO FILLER ON THIS ALBUM! One might think the track "Why you
talk all shitty?" might fall under that umbrella but once they
turn it up a bit and realize that it is a question that needed to be
asked years ago then they will understand what kinda record they have
just stumbled upon. Super proud of this one!
