Stephanie and I went out street racing last night with The Brothers. I've never gone 150mph in  a car before.  Got some footage...the camera is awesome!

I got a camera now and I'm shooting a no-budget feature documentary about two Laotian Street-racing brothers in Kansas City. It's a cool project and I'll be shooting all summer and doing post production through the winter. We are looking for local Kansas City music artists to provide music for the movie. If you are an artist or know one by all means get in touch! Thanks!

Sweet! The Talon is out now with my cover design on the...um...cover! I also wrote and article but they cut quite a bit out and misspelled my name, as well as the sentence leading up to my name. o'well, at the least the cover was good!

Here is an online PDF of the Feb. 14 issue of The Talon:

I'm taking Avant-Garde in Art & Cinema this semester at Avila and I have to say...it's a *really* cool class. I'm finally being exposed to films that reflect how I see the world. Fuck Hollywood.

Well I shot 3 video interviews yesterday regarding the Avila Theatre departments project 'Dead Man Walking'. I'm going to edit the footage and put it up on the school newspapers website: thetalon-online.com "Dead Man Walking" will be an experimental collaboration between the theatre group and the communications department. After conducting those interviews, I can honestly say that I AM GOING TO GO SEE THIS PRODUCTION! The people participating in it are going to do a REALLY good job and if you can make it THEN GO!

Well shit has been going good. Just started my second semester at Avila. Our trip to Cuernavaca, Mexico was AWESOME. I tell you what...if you have plenty of food and a roof over your ungrateful head then you are one lucky s.o.b. I look forward to visiting Mexico again next summer to build a school.

Well, I submitted a few photos to the 27th Annual College Photography Contest and just got a letter stating that my work was judged in the top 5% of over 28,000 entries! I still have a chance to be in the top 100 or top 4 who get prizes but how likely is that? I'm pretty happy because at least being in the top 5% I get my work published in a hard-bound edition book with the other 1500 who made in the top 5%.

Current mood:  calm

Things are really heating up around here...going to school at Avila was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  I've always wanted to accomplish big things and feel that this is the right place to develop my skills and get the practice to reach my potential.  My wonderful wife Stephanie is by my side, always willing to lend a helping hand and support as needed.  We have had a lot of fun since getting married.  We've learned a lot about each other and I can see us growing together throughout our lives.  We also plan on visiting Mexico in late December to visit some of her family down there...should be a great trip!

So I've been recruited to work as an aide in the Communications department, where I take care of the facilities, edit video, etc., and to write and provide content for The Talon, Avila's student newspaper.  At my first meeting with The Talon and I was assigned to sit in on at in on an interview with Night of the Living Dead filmmaker George A. Romero and report on it in the newspaper.  He was invited to speak at our school with Tom Savini, who did the special effects for many of his movies.

I'm also doing this 'photo contest' thing for the paper where I take a photograph chosen by the editor and change twelve aspects of it from the original.  Then they place the modified version next to the original in the paper and the first person to report finding all twelve changes receives a prize.  I love this gig because I love manipulating photos in photoshop.

I will also create podcasts and vidcasts for the online version of the publication.

Thank you EVERYBODY who helped/attended our wedding!  You are all true friends and if you ever need anything - i'm right here!

So there's your update...stay tuned!
