Over the past year I've gotten a handful of requests for book recommendations. So, in case you are interested, here are a handful of books I've found extraordinarily important and/or moving and that have significantly influenced my thinking. At some point I'll get around to writing short descriptions for each of these; for now you can look them up on Amazon. It should go without saying that I don't agree with everything in these books.

Overshoot by William Catton

Endgame (vols. 1 and 2), A Language Older Than WordsThe Culture of Make Believe, and Walking On Water by Derrick Jensen

The Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith

The Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram

The Politics of Experience by R.D. Laing

Original Wisdom by Robert Wolff

Against Civilization by lots of people, compiled by John Zerzan

The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness by Erich Fromm

The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm

The Story of B by Daniel Quinn

The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird

Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon

and probably my favorite work of fiction is Another Roadside Attraction by Tom Robbins
