Once A Great Nation!
I remember a time when this nation was great and everyone was proud to claim its name. There was a time when every person in this world wanted to be apart of this nation and wanted to make this nation great. I still have pride for this nation to be great and to watch it reign with an open heart and a heavy fist.
When I look at this nation now, I see a world that I dont want my son to grow up in and my heart cries knowing that this great nation is falling and it kills my soul to sit here and watch as every thing I loved and believed in falls from the skies of great nations. I hope that I am not around to watch this great nation lie next to Rome and all other nation that have fallen from this world of heavenly reign.
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
with conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
a mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame,
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
These are the words of the statue of liberty. It does not mean to forget what makes us great, or to destroy all that in which make us wanted, or to destroy all that we stand for. It means that no matter your ethnic origin nor your personal creed, but come to this country to make it great and help her stand for what every world wants and needs. We need to fight to maintain her pride, her peace and her respect. Across our lands people not of this nation take our lady liberty for granted, because you read her words wrong. She never said to make this nation like your own, but make this your own nation. She did not say to wave your nation flag because you hide in her house, but to wave her nations flag because she made this house yours to maintain.
There was a time where there was nothing greater than the peoples pride in this nation. As in the words of the constitution: When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. These words in bold mean that we are the same, but different and should be proud to be a separate nation, a nation with that freedom to be what we want to be, a nation of its own that cant be replicated.
The constitution also states: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. This means that we have to be loyal and honest to each other in order for every person to have the right to be happy and to live their life to the fullest. It does not say to lie and cheat each other or change our great nation to accommodate for our greed. It is because of the people who have written these words, who have lived these words that made our nation great. These words should not be ignored.
We are a great nation and any people who plan to flood and destroy this great nation should be considered a threat because they cant understand what makes this nation great. These protesters on the news and streets have declared that this nation can not thrive with out them. They have said with expressions of actions and with words that they are the reason why this nation is alive. They have taken a day off (a day with out immigrants) this act only did one thing. It showed that you are not what makes this country great, that you are not the heart of America. As it states in our constitution all men are created equal. I you feel that you are greater than us then you are not equals and do not deserve to be an American.
There was a time when our flag was raised high and it would make your chest swell and it brings a tear of joy to your eyes every time. Times such as the raising of the flag of Iwo Jima on Mt. Suribachi where four Marines and one Corpsmen risked life and limb to raise the American flag. Where every man different in stature, but equal in pride, so bravely raised their flag with so much pride that Adm. Chester W. Nimitz watched from a distance and uttered these words: "Uncommon Valor was a Common Virtue." This phrase has echoed through the ages as a way of life and that not even the most brutal conditions can stop the American pride.
The American pride is not what it use to be and it is hurting this great nation. Today people only have pride in one thing and that is greed. And greed is what is causing this nation to fall. President John F. Kennedy once said, Dont ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. It is only in these words will this nation survive.
All people who have come to this nation illegally dont care about the people who worked hard to create it. Even though they have the same back ground as our Fore Fathers. People today choose to come here and make this nation as just like there own, instead of standing and correcting there own nation. It hurts my heart to see so many people expect to just be handed the privileges of being an American and not want to claim its name. There is one thing I know: I was born an American, I live as an American and I will die an American, because I am an American and will always be an American. Being and American is a way of life, it is what is in your heart, and it is an unrelenting pride. No, one American is not proud to wave our nations flag.
