The  members are NUMANOID a.k.a DJ TSUYOSHI , FUNKY GONG and LYOKI。
This band was born in 1998. Their first debut-album was released in the UK,catapulting right into the worldwide arena that same year by releasing their debut album, Aoki URU, with their original members in London ,releasing Aoki Uru in UK in December of the same year.
They performed world-wide tours in Tokyo, London, Paris, Berlin,Indonesia and more.Also Joujouka performed their music at numerous big festivals such as Japan's largest rock-festival FUJI ROCK fes., Summer Sonic, and ALVIKA FESTIVAL in Norway.
The members of the JOUJOUKA are all DJs, so they are also organizing numerous club-events called “MADFSKIPPERS" monthly in Tokyo. (www.madskippers.com)
After all they released 4 albums and  collaborated with many famous Artists, Bands, Musicians ,Djs such as United Future Organization, WRENCH,SANDII, TOSHINORI KONDO, TADANOBU ASANO , Coburn ,  Youth from Killing Joke, Mad Capsule Markets, Shinji Takeda, DJKrush to name just a few , sharing stages with electro techno bands such as System7, Cold Cut , Adam Freeland,etc…

Tokyo electro rock label "Madskippers" got into rock scene finally !!!!
We are starting from 2nd July as onece every 2 months @Marz in Tokyo Shinjuku and the event called "Vanishing Point".

Madskippers has been doing well successful party@Club Asia called "MADSKIPPERS" in Tokyo Shibuya and its really hit electro event in Tokyo right now ( the next one will be on 3rd Oct. 09 ).
Yet, we feel like that we don't want to be only in the club scene which is totally separate from rock scene in Japan.
We need to break that ! and get together and make it happen !!!!!

　Daisuke Tsutsuiとして、国内メジャーレーベルの元で作詞
家・作曲家・ヴォーカリストとして活躍。ユニット、バンド活動を経
て、2008年にソロプロジェクト“Galaxy7”の活動を開
始。翌年、DJ TSUYOSHI率いるエレクトロ・レーベ

【FUNKY GONG PROFILE】
 
　80年代よりオルタナティブ・ロックバンドでヴォーカル兼ギタ
リストとして活躍。98年、DJ TSUYOSHIとのエレクトロ・
ユニット"JOUJOUKA"にギタリストとして加入。同時期にDJ
としてのキャリアをスタート、FUJI ROCK FESをはじめとする国
内大型FESやPARTYに数多く出演。近年では２年連続インド
ネシア・バリ島でのニューイヤーパーティーに出演するなど、海外での
DJプレイも精力的に行っている。04年からギターとDJを同
時にプレイする前衛的なスタイルに挑戦、楽曲によてヴォーカリストを
フィーチャリングするなど、常に新しい音楽表現を実践している。
　そのサウンドは、ブラック・ミュージックの煌めきと太さを基本とし
たダンサブルなトラックに、ロックギターリフが疾走するファンキーで
ロッキンなエレクトロ。卓越した楽曲センスやライブパフォーマンス
に、国内外のクラウドやアーティストが熱中、楽曲制作やライブのオ
ファーが絶えない。

Japan's Joujouka took the Best Dance Act ( AVIMA AWARDS 2009 )

Kuala Lumpur 30th March, 2009

History was made last night, when the winners of the first Independent Asian Music Awards, AVIMA 2009 were announced via a unique global web telecast. The big winners of the night were a super group collaboration entitled Project E.A.R, who together with Malaysia's Pop Shuvit walked away with the prestigious Song of The Year and Best Rock Song categories for the remixed version of the Pop Shuvit song "Marabahaya". Project E.A.R consists of indie acts from 5 countries - Saint Loco (Indonesia), Thaitanium and Silksounds (Thailand), Slapshock (Philippines), Ahli Fiqir (Singapore) and Pop Shuvit (Malaysia).

Thailand's biggest hip-hop act, Thaitanium tied with Philippines Dice & K9 (Mobbstar) for Best Hip-Hop Group, Sanjay Divecha from India sprang a huge surprise by nabbing the Best Pop Song, Funky Wah-Wah from Thailand walked away with the Best Dance/Electronica Song, Japan's Joujouka took the Best Dance Act, Armi Millare of Up Dharma Down won best overall female act while Malaysia's rising stars, Jeevz & Kraft took the Best Hip-Hop song honours.

"It was such an open field, and in the end, there was really no clear cut winner of the night. It was amazing to witness indie acts like Motherjane from India take Best Rock act, yet, the Best rock vocalist went to Dia Hassan from UAE. And not surprisingly indie acts from  Indonesia and the Philippines landed the highest number of AVIMAs, which we believe, boiled down to the fact that these are artistes who continue to evolve and innovate in the way that they approach and express their music." said Siva Chandran, founder of AVIMA 2009 and Managing Editor of Voize.my, the organizers of the award show.

In the true spirit of indie, the informal and zany awards show was showcased like no other, combining the reality TV show style of the Amazing Race and the countdown clock ala "24". The awards show was beamed "live" via a studio from an undisclosed location and viewers from all over the world were able to watch the show via 2 live-stream sites courtesy of Pop Teevee and CGYnet from the Voize.my website.

"We wanted to do away with the formality of awards shows and decided to pit two adventure teams, using two cameras that captured their chase scenes through the streets of Kuala Lumpur, unearthing clues via celebrities who announce the winners while a clock challenges them to accomplish their task within 60 minutes. I t was a mammoth task coordinating and pulling this off in such a short time frame" said AVIMA co-founder M.Tevan.

"We had audiences from more than 30 countries logged on to the awards show from all over Asia, Europe, Australia and USA and this clearly showed the interest that has been generated by this amazing awards platform. We have already been approached by parties in Europe and other Asian countries to help organize more independent music awards show of this nature." said the director of the awards show and AVIMA co-founder Premo

AVIMA 2009,organized by Voize.my, an Asian lifestyle & entertainment site has been dubbed the World's Biggest Indie Music Awards due to its support of 3000 indie acts from 16 Asian countries. Funky Gong is Minoru Tsunoda. Since the 80’s he was the vocalist and guitarist of an alternative rock band which lead him to becoming the guitarist in an electro-rock unit JOUJOUKA with DJ Tsuyoshi in 1998. Around the same time he was also djing and has played at every big event going including Fuji Rock and he has also played amazing sets for 2 years running on Bali Island at New Years Eve parties. As an artist he is innovative and constantly evolving. Since around 2004 he began incorporating his guitar playing in his DJ sets and tries to explore new musical territory in real time. People love him and his funky electro sound in the clubs and parties here in Japan. He is constantly busy with making tracks and doing remixes for his own solo project as well as for projects with Joujouka. He released one of his solo tracks TAKE IT TO THE FIRE, worldwide on the Tsuyoshi’s local MAD SKIPPERS label in 2004 under the artist name Minoru. In 2007 he released BURNING feat. Ninjarette under the name Funky Gong with other releases and a solo album in the pipeline. He is one to watch.



Freight Train feat.Marcellus Nealy
Funky Gong wanted to make Freight Train as something like “funky” and “rocky” track, so he collaborated with  Marcellus Nealy who sang with Johannes Heil before.
They started to be jamming with Funky Gong’s guitar riff and Mercellus’s elektro-funky voice.
This track gets the crowd funky feeling and FREIGHT TRAIN to it!


Rectifier
Rectifier is well emotional and heavy electro-rocky tunes !
Funky Gong begun from synth noise rather than his bass guitar line as usual but it ended up as guitar-rocky elektro dark style.
He likes it and already proved to the dance floor from his DJ set that crowds really loves it coz’ this is FUNKY GONG style !

DJとしてはスタートの90分をまかされていたのですが、とても満足のいく
DJ SETができた！！！
内容的にはELECTRO,TECHNO,ROCK MASH UPをMIXした感じ。
最初から満員だったので、とても楽しく、気持ち良くできたな。

AFTARのKING&QUEENもよかったですよ！！！
10時半からのPLAYだったので体力もつか心配だったけど、バッチリできたと
思う！！

とてもHARDな1日でしたが、一生忘れられない1日なりました。。

本当に、みんなに感謝！！！

僕の人生も、今、大きく動き出そうとしてます。
