My liver and I used to be friends. We didn..t really speak much after we first met, but then when I turned 18 we seemed to become a lot closer to one another for some reason, and got to know each other pretty well. I knew what my liver liked and didn..t like. I knew Chartreuse wasn..t something either of us wanted to spend much time in the company of. Anyway, after a relationship that has spanned over a decade, seen an unimaginable amount of fun and good times, it finally happened. On Friday morning, my liver stopped talking to me. I fear maybe forever. It hasn..t uttered a word all weekend. I think I may have finally gone that little bit too far.

While many friendship groups are aware of the adage ..What happens at Q Bar stays at Q Bar.., it is inevitable that sometimes even the best laid plans come undone. I perhaps shouldn..t have been so obvious, getting cosy with my liver..s mortal enemy, Tequila, in the corner while my liver was right there with me. I should have been more discreet. I could have possibly got away with it once. A quick disco-shot and my liver wouldn..t have been the wiser. But 5?? What the hell was I thinking? And then to make matters worse, in a show of support my memory and common sense decided to leave me as well. Thankyou Q Thursdays for ruining yet another relationship.

So while I cant really shed much light on the activities taking place at Q last Thursday for obvious reasons, I can tell you that this Thursday is going to be huge!

See you at the bar, minus Tequila!!!!!!!!

Yeah baby!!!!!!!

This New York city is mad!

My 4th visit and I still know why I come back here...it's a fucking awesome city!

I stayed at the very awesome 60 Thompson...its in Soho, really close to Tribeca. A great hotel, really top service, friendly people behind the desk (something many boutique and cool hotels lack). By New York standards the rooms are pretty big too (but for those who have only booked hotels in AUstralia be prepared because compared to ours they are still pretty small).

Anyway...basically it was 2 days of shopping madness!!!!!!

Abercrombie & Finch on Madison Avenue is an amazing store. Firstly, its completely blacked out from the street, even though it has windows opening onto two of the busiest streets in New York. Once inside there is music pumping like a club (all house music when I was in there too). You are greeted by a living billboard at the entrance, a guy and a girl in clothing from the store standing in a lit-up area. He was topless and judging by the jaws dropping on the way in most girls were quite happy with this as a first site. It seems there is a good looking employee everywhere you look. I was suitably impressed with the female staff and a female friend who was shopping with me was also suitably impressed with the guys. The clothing is all very preppy USA, but still great basics and jeans, T's, hoodies etc. 4 floors of action and lots to look at (including the clothes)!

Madison Avenue for upmarket stores as you can imagine is the bomb. You name it and they are there...Armani, Tiffany's, Buerberry, too many to mention...blow your budget right there easy!!!!!!!!

Soho is also really happening for shopping, many upmarket boutiques but also some really cool smaller places. Look around and you will find hidden treasures. There are heaps of "lifestyle" type shops with clothes, bits of furniture, shoes, household items etc all under the one roof...Urban Outfitters comes to mind as one of the more eclectic and interesting of these.

And the biggest hidden secret of NY...Century 21...It's a designer brands seconds and overstock outlet which is massive! Opposite the World Trade Center Groudn Zero site and full of bits and pieces from some of the worlds best labels. It takes some looking, but there are some gems in there. It's also a great place for US brands, including underwear from the likes of Tommy Hillfigure and Calvin Klein.

So the clothes, as one would expect, are completely sorted!!!! But so is the food...

I headed down to Angelique's Kitchen (East 12th street), for some great vegetarian with a great menu. Check the apple cider there too...yummo! Also check the Spice Market in the meat packing district...You have to book but it is awesome...We went on a Monday night and both floors were full (and it would easy seat a couple of hundred people). The food is kind of similar to Longrain in Melbourne and Sydney, and as the name suggests is of an Asian flavour. It has a really cool atmosphere and great wine list.

There is stacks going on so while I have kept this pretty short I think everybody who reads this should put New York on their "to do" list...

Remember once your bitten by the big apple you will be back for more!

See you back home!

cheers

JC

Not that I was actually counting, but I think something like 40 Yeager-bombs, or at least combination of those and Agwabombs is the round about figure of consumption for the last 5 days! Yes, its been a huge weekWednesday was the Inthemix Top 50 announcement in Sydney and there was a bunch of promoters, DJs and club personalities out in forceSome celebrated quietly in good spirits, others left in a huff not happy with their results, we all smashed it and tried to drink the Tank bar dry. Congratulations to the national winner AJAX and also to Grant Smillie who was voted number 1 in Victoria. Grants had a huge year with his DJing, not to mention TV rock, and he deserves all his success. Once Tank closed a bunch of us representing Canberra, Sydney, Kink, Onelove, Future Entertainment, Fuzzy, Exclusive Artists and various DJs, headed out on the town, bar hopping and, yep, u guessed itdrinking more of the previously mentioned bombs. It was a crazy night, the end tally being: one 2 day old blackberry donated to some random taxi (ouch, and yes, it was mine), lots of $2 notes donated to a semi naked dancer at some dodgy strip bar (these were not mine but it was enjoyable seeing the Italian section of our entourage working the floor with their bunches of play money). Adding to the atmosphere was the DJ who took great pleasure in playing TV Rock, Dirty South and various Vicious releases while we were all there. The night continued with numerous dodgy chicken hot wings digested at 5am, some gambling, and a bunch of hangovers! I got in at 5:30am and was the first home out of about 8 of us! It continued on the Gold Coast the next night with MrTimothy, Dirty South, Vandalism, Stafford Brothers and myself all playing up there. Again, I was the first home at 5am (funny how two 5am-ish finishes makes me sound lightweight within the context of this little adventure)The rest got home at about 7am! Then for me a 5 hour and 20 minute flight to Perth (hmm, yes, feeling tip top after 4 hours sleep too). I played the first of the Vicious Cuts volume 3 gigs at Harbourside which was rocking and guess whatmore bombs. I am writing this on the flight back to MelbourneOne Love is on tonight with Andy Murphy, Dirty South and me closingyes, probably more of the bombs but at least I know I get past 5am as I play 4 till 6! I love DJing, and I enjoy a big night out, but seriouslyweeks like this and I can hear my body pleading for time offI say to my bodyU have 4 days, then be ready for Thursday at Q, and more bombs!
