A bit of good news to share. Two Gun Man has won the 1st round in the WDST 100.1 'Join the Jam' contest to send a local band to Mountain Jam in June.
The field has been narrowed down from hundreds to just 15, and we would love to have the chance to make it to round 2, a three band showdown at the Colony Cafe in Woodstock May 2nd. We will, of course win if we can get there.
But to get to round 2, TGM needs you to go to the WDST website and vote! now. You have to be signed up as a 'WDST VIP' to vote, but it is free and easy and will only take a minute. Here is the link http://wdst.com/index.php?page=join_the_jam

The last week of February had TGM nervously anticipating our National Public Radio debut. We had been practicing paired down acoustic style in Miesmer's kitchen, doing our best not to curse between songs. Not cursing was impossible for certain members of the band, but musically we were very happy with our progress. The night before the program we learned that we would not have the benefit of monitors or headphones (that means that if you play loud you can't hear yourself), so practicing unplugged turned out to be a very good move. We had to leave our homes in Hudson at 9:00 am in order to make it there on time, we left at 9:30 or so, not bad for us and we made it with time to spare. Set up was laid back, thanks to the engineers, cool guys and very good at what they do. Miesmer's 3 year old son Otto was running around the room and crawling over the chairs doing a very good performance of a bad lion. Kirin brought coffee for the crew from across the street. 10:30 am, all is cozy with just a touch of nervous tension. The tension came from not knowing what to say about ourselves and the possibility that someone could slip up and say something off color, but we had a good sound check and our confidence was rising. 11:15 or so Howard shows up and gives us the ground rules. 1st no swearing. 2nd no swearing. 3rd no swearing. He introduced us and pretty much let us go, it gave us a moments pause but then we just rolled along. It was a lot of fun and the response has been overwhelming.

Well okay - Here she goes, my first crack at this blog business. Haven't bothered till now because an object in motion tends to stay in motion till acted upon by a broken down car - house sitting (marooned) type of reaction, Equal or Opposite? And what a horrible word is blog! I'll have to write a bunch of blogs (Horrendous word) to catch up on all of our activities, but this one will have to be a brief summary of say - 4 months or so.
Okay so we... on second thought, maybe I'll cover a longer period more briefly. We were a band, a three piece (Reid, Josh and Jules) Two Gun Man - couple of years ago, but things happen. Jules left for the west coast. Josh and I kept it going with Jason Miranda, then he went on a European tour with Mercury Rev. So after that I left for the west coast too. I promised Josh Miesmer I would be back with Julian in tow after some life saving adventures. Olympia Washington was good to us and still is. I met Watson at the Voyeur in Oly, and after heckling him into a gin and tonic we began a funny courtship resulting in him eventually giving up everything he ever knew or loved and his two cents, he signed up. So Watson moved across the country to the great empire state to play guitar. I returned to groom Miesmer for our triumphant return and less than a month later Jules and I drove across country - this time for real. Watson followed in a weeks time. We practiced and played shows just days after his arrival.
It is a few months later now and we are working on a great E.P. with Engineer to the stars Matt Cullen at the world renown Old Soul Studios. Matt Cullen is amazingly knowledgable and that boy -he smooth, as well as british (heavens to Mergatroid, Blimy "O" Riley even!) He is also putting his noggin toward some production duties. Matt Cullen will give us the moon.
Anyway - things are swell, we are getting our shit together with the help of many. One of our greatest allies are the Luxury Flats. They have invited us to ride their coat tails and given us the opportunity to play some great shows together, most recently with the Mooney Suzuki. TTFN. I'm spent. Adios. Reid blog, blog, blog......blah

Two Gun Man has just (in the last 2 weeks) finished recording and mixing our ep with engineer savant and blizzard defying Matt Cullen at Old Soul Studios across the river in Catskill. The last 2 days of mixing snowed in at the studio, super cozy stranded. Thanks Kenny Siegal for letting us camp out - great hosting.
Whole experience was incredibly smooth and comfortable. Recording on 2 inch tape, which has such character and charm, wonderfully limiting. Watson assisted Cullen on the Trident. Rob Jack graced 'Helen' with a beautiful, impromtu piano track. Thank you.
Mastering still to be done, Kevorkian at sterling sound?
- TGM
ps Thank you also to Leonardo for hooking us up with a place to practice. Mucho appreciated.
