Last Rites Tattoo Theatre presents its first ever Creep-In Day on Halloween!....
Saturday, October 31st, 12pm-12am at Last Rites Tattoo Theatre, 511 W. 33rd Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues (3 blocks from Penn Station), 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001.
Find more information at www.DarkImages.com.....
(New York, NY) Last Rites Tattoo Theatre is celebrating the Halloween season by showing a return of support to all Last Rites friends, family and fans. With their first ever Creep-In Day, dedicated fans and collectors receive a rare opportunity to be tattooed spontaneously without an appointment at the infamous Last Rites Tattoo Theatre… and on Halloween to boot! Along with Paul Booth himself, the Last Rites family of masterful artists will take in the haunting energy of Halloween, Last Rites style, and produce stunning tattoo art on a first-come-first-serve basis! Paul will even be venturing out from his private lair and tattooing in the family crypt making the day an awesome “meet&greet” opportunity for Fans and Clients alike! In addition to this overdose of high energy freehand tattooing from 12 to 12, the day includes visual stimuli such as live painting sessions featuring Esao Andrews, Vincent Castiglia, Fred Harper, Dan Quintana, David Stoupakis, and Genevive Zacconi.  ArtFusion Experiment collaborative painting performances by notable Tattoo Artists such as Paul Acker, Goethe, Juan Selgado, Jesse Smith, and more! An ArtFusion canvas will be open for the public to paint as well! The Film Chapel will be rolling Paul’s personal Horror movie picks continuously day and night. And of course, costumes are welcome and encouraged! And last but not least, the day will end at 11:59pm followed by a traditional Last Rites “Kool-Aid” Toast to bring in the Witching Hour. ....
Please read on for special details…
Paul Booth and Crew will be following normal protocol used for conventions and touring. This means one-sitting freehand style work with an approx. 3 hour time limit on a piece. If you are looking to start a multiple sitting project such as a sleeve or backpiece, then this is not a day for such. Our best advice to you is to give our accomplished artists your theme and trust them with the artistic freedom to run with it for you. 3 hours can get a good sized piece done so don’t let the time issue concern you. We do this to be fair to everyone that desires Last Rites Art. We also suggest getting here earlier than opening time if you are really serious about getting work. The doors will open at 12 noon and anyone behaving overly aggressive, intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will not be tolerated. This event will be filmed for an upcoming Last Rites DVD so costumes are encouraged but not mandatory!....
·            Meet and Greet the artists and fellow clients all day and night....
·            Crazy Performers will be unearthing themselves throughout the day for everyone’s twisted amusement.....
·            Food, Drink and visual stimuli all day long… No Cover! Costumes Welcome!

“We want to show our fans our true appreciation for their support, by allowing them the opportunity to avoid the waiting list… and get tattooed convention style. I have been spending quite a bit of time here at home focusing on my larger projects and I find myself occasionally missing the road. Now I can sort of go on tour without leaving home and get a good dose of that convention energy I have come to know so well. I have always liked the idea of bringing our fans together to meet each other as they have always shown a strong like-mindedness. This is why I want to make it a meet & greet day as well.”....

Booth Skins

CARRY TATTOO ARTIST PAUL BOOTH'S WORK WITH YOU EVERYWHERE YOU GO!!!

World renowned tattoo artist Paul Booth has teamed up with MusicSkins.com to bring fans tons of new ways to personalize their cell phones, laptops, iPods, Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars, and more! Select pieces of Booth's frightening and provocative artwork are now available as removable vinyl decals for a huge number of personal devices! Check out Darkimages.com for Paul's entire MusicSkins collection.

"Mother", "The Fibonacci Worm," "Icarus Syndrome," and "Given A Choice," are just some of the many pieces of Booth's art fans can choose from.

Booth commented on the new skins: "I'm really excited to be able to deliver some of my favorite pieces of art to my fans on such a personal level as their cell phones and iPods! I really like the fact that MusicSkins has made these skins removable, so when you are tired of disturbing your friends with one image, you can swap it with another. There just isn't enough, if any, Dark Art available out there to personalize these necessary devices, so I am that much happier to be able to provide some of my own!"

After devoting nearly twenty years of his life to the art of Tattoo, where he is revered for his efforts to elevate the medium into the realm of Fine Art, Paul Booth has become a household name. His unparalleled dedication to the evolution of his craft has garnered him numerous awards around the globe, top tier magazine features, public and television appearances including CNN, MSNBC, Discovery, A&E, TLC, CBS, MTV and more. Booth has continually driven to help push the tattoo industry forward in as many ways as possible. Numerous major bands in the metal scene such as Slayer, Slipknot, Pantera, Down, Lamb of God and many more have spent many hours under his needle. In 2002, Rolling Stone mag featured Booth and crowned him "The New King of Rock Tattoos."

Well, Better late than never!

The party was off the hook and I give huge gratitude to all that made it out for this! As well as all who would have but live too far away. All in all, especially considering the entire thing was put together in 2.5 weeks! Me and my last minute decisions!

A special thanks to all of our sponsors who gave me a TON of cool shit to give away, EVERYONE who helped make it happen, and everyone who drank my KoolAid! See that!... your are all still alive after all!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, NY (December 13th, 2008) - Last Rites Gallery is pleased to present Anathema: a two person show of new paintings by Shawn Barber and Vincent Castiglia.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

San Fransisco based artist Shawn Barber graduated with a BFA from the Ringling School of art & Design in 1999. Since, his work has been featured in galleries around the planet and can be found in celebrity collections including those of Robin Williams, Christian Slater, Kat Von D and more. Though he is best known for his fine art, he is also an acclaimed illustrator, professor of art, and tattooist. Shawn has been profiled by publications including Art News, Juxtapoz Magazine, and SF Weekly; in addition to having two published books of his art. Last Rites will be hosting a signing of his newest book, Forever and Ever during the exhibition's opening reception. Famous for his insightful portraits of tattooed artists, Shawn's paintings are classically rendered, intimate glimpses into America's creative underground. In this exhibit he will unveil his first collection of erotic work.

Vincent Castiglia lives and works in New York City. The award-winning painter, who literally puts his life into his art, has mastered the use of his own blood as a medium. His works on paper have been showcased at museums and galleries throughout the US and Europe. His latest solo show opened in November 2008 at the HR Giger Museum in Switzerland, for which he was the first American artist to receive an invitation to exhibit. His artwork has been featured in numerous art and tattoo publications both in the US and internationally. Painstakingly rendered, Castiglia's paintings are monochromatic tableaux examining life, death and spirituality.

Last Rites Gallery is New York's only gallery of dark art. Having opened in April 2008, the gallery has received accolades from publications such as Juxtapoz, Inked Magazine, Hi Fructose and the Channel 11 Morning News. Last Rites was founded by legendary painter and tattooist Paul Booth, an artist who has devoted his life to the evolution of his craft. Paul has been featured on networks such as CNN, MSNBC, DISCOVERY, A&E, TLC, and MTV. In 2002, Rolling Stone Magazine dubbed Paul "The new king of rock tattoos." There is currently a two-year waiting list for his work. All shows at Last Rites are curated by gallery director Genevive Zacconi. As well as being a seasoned curator, Genevive is an artist known for her meticulously detailed, classical oil paintings, which have been displayed in galleries around the world. Genevive has been profiled by MSNBC, FHM, Juxtapoz, and the NY Press.

Anathema opens on Saturday, December 13th, 7-11pm at Last Rites Gallery, 511 W. 33rd Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues (3 blocks from Penn Station), 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001.  Show runs December 13th through January 22nd, 2008.  More info at www.lastritesgallery.com.
