Well hello hello. I figured i'd write you guys and let you all know what we have been up to lately. First of all, we are gonna be ready and roaring to come out in 2010 and make it an awesome year!  It's so exciting for us to think about the future because there are a lot possibilities.  We are proud to announce that Stephen has moved from his touring position w/ us into a full-time member of Barely Blind. Stephen rules and you all are gonna love him.  Second, we will be shooting a music video for the song "Panic Attacks Are Normal" really soon. All of you will be invited to the shoot to make it a party. We will be announcing all the details on that in the near future so stay tuned.  In order for us to come play for you guys in 2010 we will have to purchase a new van. Touring is one our favorite aspects of being in this band and we love to do it!  We know times are tough for a lot of us with the economy but if you could pick something up from our Online Merch Store (www.barelyblind.bigcartel.com) or a song or two off iTunes you'd be helping us out tremendously. For those of you who pre-ordered "My Life With A Giant" from Smartpunk, be expecting your phone calls really soon. We know it's been a lil while but at least you have had time to listen to the record and you can tell us what your favorite song is and what songs you wanna hear live!

As for now, we are gonna be writing tons of songs and playing a few shows to finish out the year, including a hometown Christmas show. Be looking for the dates on our myspace.  A great way to keep up with our band is via Twitter (www.twitter.com/barelyblind). Anything we think you guys should know about will be posted there.  We also have a Facebook page for those of you who are on there (www.facebook.com/barelyblind

Thanks a lot for taking the time out of your busy day to read this. You all mean the world to us. We love and miss you!

Here's a lil update people! We are in Cleveland, OH for the next few days getting ready to start the "Panic Attacks Are Normal" Fall Tour w/ The Promise Hero. We are so excited to get these shows on the road. On another note, we are bummed that Blink 182 canceled their show tonight in Cleveland. We had seat tickets! It looks like we are gonna be hitting up a museum instead.

Anyways, I just wanted to update you guys w/ a few things. We are featured in the new Alternative Press Magazine under the AP&R unsigned band section. Go check it out! It's so exciting to be a part of that. We also have a brand new Online Merchandise Store (www.barelyblind.bigcartel.com) w/ 3 new t shirt designs. We have a lot of cool ideas for merch this winter we will be doing including a new hoodie so be looking for that.  And last but not least, you can pick up our music from iTunes.com and also at Texas Hot Topic Stores. If you haven't got "My Life With A Giant" yet what are you waiting for?

You all should keep in touch w/ us and the best place to do that is Twitter.com so here is the links!

Despite the band members young age, Barely Blind is arguably one of the most veteran touring bands in Southeast Texas. The band will hold a CD release party Friday night (May 29th) at the Scout Bar in downtown Beaumont in a special all-ages showcase. The doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is $10. Also appearing are We Were Wolves, The Get Down, Don’t Shoot the Messengerand Common Grey plus a special performance by a DJ after midnight.

The Mid-County-based band, comprised of bassist and vocalist
Brad Cuccio, drummer, Will Smith, and guitarist Reid Guidry, originally from Orange County, is set to release its latest album, “My Life with a Giant,” independently on June 2. The album will be available to patrons at Friday's show, and at various locations such as Hot Topic in malls across the country, and online at iTunes.

“We are completely unsigned band at the moment and have decided to release ‘My Life with a Giant’ on our own,” Guidry said. “The record is doing great on Smartpunk.com, and it’s only available as a pre-order right now. It is currently ranked eighth in the top 100 selling CD’s and ranked first in the unsigned section.”

The seven-song album is the band’s first in more than two years, and features a more polished sound thanks to a relentless tour schedule.

“I think people are going to hear the progression that we have made in the past two years of touring,” Guidry added. “This record shows that we have our own unique style and sound, and that we are maturing as musicians and songwriters. The record was recorded with Paul Leavitt in Baltimore, Maryland, and the quality is much more professional sounding than any other record Barely Blind has put out. We really think people are going to enjoy this one.”

Cuccio is now featured as the band’s lead singer, but, for a time, singing duties were handled by former member Canaan Davis. Following Davis’ departure, the band has officially remained a three piece and utilizes the assistance of a friend for second guitar duties in live performances.

“Our good buddy Stephen Salisbury is filling in as our second guitarist for live shows,” Guidry continued. “We are just going to take it slow before we add a new member to the band. We have a lot of other goals we want to achieve before we worry about adding a new member.”

Barely Blind has toured across the United States performing at any venue possible just so the band could expose new people to its music. This “on the job” experience has really shaped Barely Blind into the band it is today.

“It’s basically been like going to college, except music style,” Guidry said with a laugh. “Touring has provided us with a chance to really come together as a band. We are much tighter and have a lot better grip on where we want take this opportunity we have created.”

Friday’s performance in Beaumont is not the only CD release party for this trio. The band has scheduled a total of eight CD release parties from Lafayette, La. to Lawton, Okla. over the next several weeks.

“We will also be at the TDR Records merchandise tent on this year’s Vans Warped Tour all summer,” Guidry added. “And we hope to be announcing dates for a fall tour very soon. We just want to get our music out to people, and we’ll do it however it needs to be done.”

I know I'm a couple of days late but I have been looking forward to sharing a few words to everyone out there! First off let me let you guys in on a little secret, February 28th 2009 marked the SIX year anniversary of our first show. I know I know that's no 50 years like the Rolling Stones, but in this day and age 6 years is a very long time! Especially considering when we started our band myspace was a term your girlfriend used to end a relationship.

From the very first show at the dorm room coffee house to sharing the stage with bands like Hellogoodbye and Bayside, we have endured some intense ups and downs and everything in between. Over time this band has become my life and my passion and has also surpassed not only me, but most anyone's expectations. We have completed over 10 tours of the entire country and have met some INCREDIBLE people along the way. We also suffered a loss of one of the most important pieces of this machine. As a lot of you may know Canaan decided to leave the band for college and a different lifestyle, while this was hard it only helped not only the bands progress but it also improved our relationship tremendously.

So the new era begins we have recently picked up a new edition to our touring line up Mr. Stephen Salisbury along with recording some new material! We have some AMAZING plans for not only 2009 but for the remainder of the decade! We are looking forward to seeing all of you in the future and hope that you can be apart of what we have been doing for the past 6 years! lets go for 50 and put the stones to shame!!!!!!!!

-Will
