Last Friday was the final night of the Short Cuts Film Festival, and therefore the night they announce the winner of Best Film.

I sat in screen 1 of the EMPIRE Cinema, just pretty stoked to see 'Blokes' on a big screen, with 100 or so other competition finalists, actors, Directors, judges, festival organisers and sponsors. We watched all ten of the competition finalists and I can assure you the benchmark was set extremely high from the moment the first film hit the screen! Blokes was fifth up and looked great on the big screen, thanks to the talents of animator Mat Frodsham, who created the images in HD.

After the screening each of the ten finalist were called up to be presented with a framed certificate which reads, "The jury of the 2nd annual ShortCuts Film Festival recognise Blokes as a work of notable merit, and therefore worthy of induction into the ShortCuts Official selection for 2009"

I was pretty chuffed with my certificate and sat back down after the group photo. Then Darren Cliff, MD of
Cliff Productions and festival organiser took centre stage to announce the award. He listed three films that were vying for the top prize: Touched By A Stranger, Mr Thornton’s Change Of Heart and Blokes. He began to explain but then stopped in his tracks and announced, "the Winner of Best Film is Blokes!" Wow I was blown away!!!

Safe to say, the after show party is a bit of a blur! Four days later I'm still grinning from ear to ear!

Things are heating up so I'll take a deep breath and....

The Short Cuts Film Festival began yesterday and 'Blokes' is showing tonight at Buckingham’s The Film Place from 7:30pm. Unfortunately I can not attend as I’ll be at the Soho Theatre hosting Apples & Snakes; however I’ll be very nervous knowing people will have paid to see it. The festival runs from the 20th till the 23rd and will be showing in Aylesbury, Buckingham, Pinewood Studios and the final day is at the EMPIRE Cinema in Wycombe. Blokes will be shown in Buckingham at ‘The Film Place’ on Wednesday the 21st of October as part of ‘The Second Cut’ screening from 7:30pm. I will be at Friday’s screening at the EMPIRE Cinema in Wycombe, not only that, I will also be performing at the after show party.

Book your tickets here: http://www.cliffproductions.co.uk/shortcuts09-ticket-reservation.htm

As I said above, tonight I am hosting Apples & Snakes at the Soho Theatre featuring Patrick Neate! I know it's short notice but if you have a spare few minutes please come and enjoy!!!

Please take a moment to check out Sad Panda Clothing as they have been kind enough to send me free stuff! The company supports skateboarding, extreme sports and is now supporting/sponsoring your honourable skater poet... me! So you will see me wearing a number of items looking similar to the one I’m wearing on the right. Thanks to Rich Beaumont for the photo!

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, a night of creativity at Cafe Cha Cha Cha

Thursday 8 October, Cha Cha Cha Cafe, Cassiobury Park. 8pm. FREE

DIY WOMP's "Life is beautiful" night continues with another awesome event at Cha Cha Cha's in Watford's Cassiobury Park.

Life is beautiful is a night dedicated to celebrating creativity within Watford. On the night there will be poems, songs, stories, and discussions from some very talented individuals. The crowd was wonderfully attentive last time and hung onto the every word of the performers.

Cafe Cha Cha Cha, supported by Watford Borough Council, is fast becoming the home of creative types in Watford. So come on down to Cha's and hang with the creativity of Watford. You might be surprised how many people there are.

This time around, Life is Beautiful is celebrating National Poetry Day. As such, the focus for the evening will be poetry, with traditional, performance and progressive poets providing the entertainment.

There is no bar, but you can bring your own bottle of wine or cans of beer. That's recession busting fun! Performers on the night so far include Matt Lloyd, Indigo Williams and BobbyJohn.

For more information, please call Cafe Cha Cha Cha on tel: 01923 247868.

Received notification from the organisers...

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, lesfest will unfortunately not be happening this year. We know this is a bit last minute but we have towed the line right to the last to attempt to make it go ahead. We will be back next year and may do something towards Christmas as we know so many people were looking forward to it.

Again our thanks for your support and out most sincere apologies."
