Hi good folks of Myspace

Sucking Up live - a performance of my song at the Old Joint Stock Theatre last year is now up on this page

Its a little bid of a sad song, but ends up in a nice place - here - hope you enjoy it and the piano instrumentals that follow.

An exciting development!  I’ve finally gotten around to listening properly to the recordings Marc Reck made of my solo concert at the Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham in Sept 07 - and theyre not half bad.

As a result I am now able to make public for the first time ever ... (drum roll pls!) ... a recording of one my songs.  By which I mean a tune with vocals and lyrics as opposed to the piano instrumentals that comprise Valentine Court.

The track is "Sucking Up" - a gently melancholic number with - by my standards - some pretty nice lyrics on the theme of healing and self discovery.  The end section should hopefully leave you with a warm feeling.

In celebration of my new musician page on Facebook, I’ve made the track available exclusively there, so please vsit my page and have a listen.

Well, I hope you enjoy it.  Do feel free to let me know if you do.

big love

Hello there

ive just posted up a new video - its actually a live performance, tho you wont see or hear any audience because I was actually playing in a studio in Adelaide Australia, whilst the audience of over 200 people was right around the other side of the world in Birmingham UK.

I was appearing there broadcast live onto screens via an internet connection.  The video is a capture of that footage.

I’ve uploaded it direct to the Myspace Video’s so just click there to view.

Hope you like it

Im taking part in a rather special event taking place in a warehouse in birmingham on Saturday Nov 3rd fusing many kinds of music including electronica and breakbeat, minimalism, qawwalia, ska, classical, world, krautrock, acoustic etc with performance art, phyiscal theatre, dance, stand up comedy, and acrobatics into one seamless, ongoing "omnimeida experience".

The event is carried around three different stages allowing a continual flow of performance and collaborations, all delivered a amongst a custom designed set and immersed in an amazing 360 degree dynamic visual environment.

The experience is built around a theatrical narrative and is designed to transport the audience on an amazing journey finishing with an irresitable dancing experience organised by drop beats not bombs and Rockfall DJ Marc Reck.

Its going to be pretty amazing, so I hope you can make it - please visit www.projectxpresents.com for more info or to buy tickets

thanks

Hi Folks

im performing my first full length solo show at the Old Joint Stock Theatre in central Birmingham on Sept 27th.

I will be performing most of the meditative piano music from my Valentine Court album as well as a selection of original songs and in honour of the visit by Brian Wilson to Birmingham a couple of days previously, a selection of tracks from the amazing album "Pet Sounds".

Rich Batsford Old Joint Stock Theatre Poster

Tickets are a fiver only and may sell out due to the smallish venue, so do please buy your tickets in advance, as soon as possible in fact, to avoid too many sleepless nights on my behalf!

You can buy online at the Birmingham Box Office or if you don't do the online thing, call the Box Office on 0121 200 0946 and reserve your tickets.

If you know me personally, I also have some for sale.

It would mean a lot to see you there and with luck the event will be as "utterly spell-binding" (Birmingham Post) as my previous appearance at the same venue.

Music by Candlelight
Thursday June 28th, 8pm, St Marys Church Moseley, Free entry

As part of the ever-enjoyable Moseley Festival which started this weekend with the street fair and finishes next weekend with the Music in the Park, I'm organising and taking part in a free candlelit concert in the beautiful setting of St Mary's Church Moseley this Thursday.

I'll be playing a twenty minute set of my piano music, probably at the start, followed by a selection of madrigals from the all-girl medieval vocal group Stella Maris, who were a definite highlight of last year's event.

I left the first part of the second half of the concert open for a bit hoping to pull together some other vocal stuff and its looking good.  A short set is planned from a select chorus directed by longstanding Organist and Choirmaster of St Mary's Mick Perrier, featuring unaccompanied motets from some of the masters of the Rennaissance - Thomas Tallis, William Byrd and Orlando Gibbons.  If you're not familiar with this period in musical history, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Another short set featuring myself and two old friends singing some three part harmonies to a couple of more up to date and secular songs will follow before we turn over to the Moseley Village Band to close the evening in traditional folky style.

The concert is free and is planned to feature a glass of vino (unconsecrated) or juice for all, with donations most welcome.

As you can from the picture above, the Church when candlelit is a beautiful spectacle, so all in all it should be a pleasant evening.

Hope to see you.
