LUKE ELLIOTT If You Don't Kiss Me 6/10

myspace.com/lukeelliott
The young Worcester instrumentalist has been making music since 2001, ending up a happily demented lo-fi synthster.

It sounds like it's lifted from a lost Oliver Postgate soundtrack, swinging merrily around a childlike hook until it takes root.

Too simplistic to be the finished article, but if he can add more layers to the basic theme he's on to summat.

Hey! Hey you!

Do you know what you should do? You should stop listening to the latest band who look and sound exactly like The Kooks. Also, you should stop listening to The Kooks. They're a terrible band.

Instead, you should listen to my new song, which is entitled 'Motherf'. It's pronounced as if you're about to swear, but censor yourself just in time, and you can hear it on my MySpace page right now.

You can also own it on CD, by ordering the excellent compilation 'They Wanna Make A T-Shirt Outta Yr Dreams' from Cowboy Democracy, which features wonderful songs by the likes of Lardpony, Nova Robotics, and My Psychoanalyst.

Vist Cowboy Democracy's website or their Myspace page for more information.

Oh no! It turns out that Lily Allen is quite entertaining, judging by her appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

I'm beginning to like her, despite her terrible music.

She's like the opposite of Damon Albern, who's hateful but makes excellent music.

The new Joanna Newsom is absolutely excellent.

Everyone ever should listen to it.

"Like Kate Bush, one suspects, she's the kind of female singer who attracts odd, obsessive, mostly male fans in their droves, and understandably does not want them pitching up on her doorstep."

Well, can't argue with that.
