and it was fun. apparently we stayed in the seediest part of town, it wasn't too bad, we only saw 4-5 strip clubs and a handful of junkies.
clubhouse - empire hotel - go there. its good.
i think sydney could really learn something from the way brisbane promotes music in the valley.
its amazing to see government & council support for music and the music culture.
a lot better then kicking out visitors 5mins after playing. thats just anti social.
why would people want to come to a gig when they get kicked out just after the band plays? its like cutting off the hand that feeds you.
angus is going to cuba soon, so no more gigs until the new year...I think. Unless we start a 2 piece type thing. That could be fun.
We will start *que the AnR buzz word* "PRE PRODUCTION" on an album which we will be recording next year. Lots of work to be done there.
i think i might have to start writing more of these.

Hi all -
After months of late nights in the studio recording and mixing, we are happy to tell you that we have finished our new CD "Sunny Letters". This is pretty much an industry showcase type release, and as such we are not making it available through iTunes or in stores or anything like that. However, if you would like to purchase a copy they will be available at shows...or shoot us an email.
Big thanks to Dave and Marshall at Damien Gerard for all their hard work and generousity, Pete at JMC for the late nights mixing with us, and Val at the Sound Basement for being such a cool guy. Also thanks to the ladies at Three Blocks Left design for their super fantastic art skills.
Enjoy the tunes, Scott/Hailer

Here's a sunny letter for your mailbox.
We've put together 4 noveaux-aural delights, recorded and ready for
your ears and you can check them out here if you ain't done so already.

Yes, Hailer has a 'fans' page. What's the difference between that and
the group? dunno, you're asking the wrong lad, but you can listen to
music there, so do it.
So we've been laying low, writing, buying records and helping our friends with our other amazing talents.
I've been doing 'sound design', for want of better wank-word, for a
show on at Newtown Theatre at the moment. It's called 'The Return' by
Reg Cribbs, directed by Jess Tuckwell, and it's not shit. In fact it
is very very good indeed! Plus we've dug up some instumental music by
Hailer from a session 3 years ago to assist with vibe-control. Head
here for event details and get amongst it - support independent theatre
in sydney. It runs until 4th July (independence day, will the fresh
prince save the day again...?)
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=82683372522
OH YEAH! We're playing a show on the northern beaches at Mona Vale
Hotel on Fri 17th July, supporting Regular John. If you want to hear
some newly written songs, as always, come and watch us play a show, cos
that's where the moss don't grow.
Looks like we're doing a set at Kino Kabaret next tuesday night also...
head here for details. With free Coopers & Jameson upon entry it's
a boozers wet dream. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=85795319231
Busy Busy.
Peace and Fucking and Lots of Hailer Love.

We have been really lazy in updating this blog, perhaps that is because we have been doing actual band related things instead of sitting on the computer all day hitting refresh!
We are finishing a 3 track album teaser as we speak, this teaser will contain the new tracks "Never Leave You Alone", "Sunny Letters" and also a slightly re-vamped "Jack". Depending on our bribery bankroll, you should hear it on your radios ASAP. If you do not hear it on your radio then do not stress, just purchase it or ask for or email us or pick one up from a gig.
This will be done by the end of the month.
Aside from that, we have been taking it easy on the gigging front after our tour, you get pretty tired driving around SE Australia all weekend and then working during the week...but I had a great time, and I know everyone else did as well. We will be doing this again soon.
And by the way...hi.
Now I am going to go to the current mood box, close my eyes and scroll down...how's that for "random"?

Hailer play the Hopetoun Hotel (corner of Foveaux and Bourke St, Surry Hills) this Thursday the 19th as part of the Rotating Heads tour - March 2009. Playing tunes from our yet to be titled, released or diagnosed record with a special guest on keys - great times. Come along - $8 door.

Tour Press Release
Three of Australia’s most talented upcoming rock bands unite throughout the month of March to celebrate all that is rock’n’roll. The Rotating Heads Tour will feature a rotating headline act each night to give punters the live experience of all three acts over eight killer shows.
With Sydney rockers, Hailer, combining Brian Jonestown Massacre inspired southern rock infused psychedelia, Melbourne’s Cockfight Shootout blast heavy, Black Sabbath drenched rock, and The Watt Riot tie it all together with their high voltage, rock’n’roll tracks that are stained with the hard edge of post-punk & the grit of dirty blues.
While Cockfight Shootout have been securing support slots with acts such as MC5, Young Heart Attack, The Hellacopters, Killing Heidi and Giants of Science, their 2008 EP release ‘Breed Until Broken’ received glowing reviews and healthy national air play on youth radio network Triple J.
Hailer- a three piece out of the Sydney ‘burbs play music out of a vintage vacuum into the stainless field of today. With a current music market saturated with over-indulgent electronic instruments, Hailer revert back to the dirty sounds of the ‘60s. Their boisterous EP, ‘Like A Uniform’, sees their blues infused rock flatteringly compared to their influences; Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Rolling Stones and Mess Hall.“Hailer buzzed like Kings of Leon arm-wrestling Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for the soul of Bob Dylan… they won't stay unearthed for long." - Drum Media It is no surprise that ‘Gong favourites, The Watt Riot were Unearthed by Triple J with the epic and pertinent track Rock’n’Roll. ‘Paint The City Red’ is The Watt Riot’s second EP release which saw the foursome work with Anthony The (Wolfmother, Youth Group, The Vines) and Al Wright (Motley Crue, INXS) to create their explosive release. The Wollongong-born outfit have supported notable acts such as Eagles Of Death Metal, Betchadupa and Mess Hall. “Y’know how everyone uses ‘rock’ to describe something good these days. Like ‘you rock dude!’ or ‘that DJ set was totally rockin’… Well, unless they sound like this song by The Watt Riot, they don’t really ‘rock’ at all. 5/5” -Chris Scadden (Triple J)Tour Dates

Hello nobody,
Hailer have just resurfaced from tracking a bunch of new tunes for us all to share. We will be tinkering, tuning and tasting over the holiday period and you will get to hear it early on in the new year. It's good - it's really fucking good.

Current mood: jubilant
So, would just like to let y'all know how splendid a time was had t'other evening at the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills.
9 Bands playing tribute to the great man Neil Young and his deep pockets filled with heart-melters and hard-rockers. If there's one man that could bring a grown man to tears, it's Mr Young.
We were delighted to have some close friends of ours on stage with us that evening. Thank you for sharing it with us. See some pics at the link below (courtesy of Alex Vaughan, www.alexvaughan.com.au): http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=63925874&albumId=2535165
Would just like to say a massive thank you to Cam from Break and Entertain for putting the night together and allowing us to make some new friends in the other bands (aided by sing-a-longs to The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down). I was super impressed by both The Green Mohair Suits and Fait Accompli on the night who performed completely different, but equally compelling, sets.
All for now. Hope to have something new for you to listen to real soon.
Love, Gus.Hailer

Current mood: amused
After a pretty busy few months, where it seems that we have been playing at least twice a week for I don't know how long, we are going to take little break from things here in Sydney and focus on recording a single or two...which may turn into another EP, which will probably turn into an album. Our last show for a while will be at the Sando on the 14th of November (check on our gig guide for confirmation!) with a Melbourne band called 'Damn the Maps'. All we do is play with bands from Melbourne lately...speaking of which, make sure you check out both the 'Son's of Lee Marvin' and the 'Screwtop Detonators'...cause they are both really really good.
You will hopefully be seeing us again in Melbourne either before the year is done, or early next year, as we are more than keen to head down there again. Top city. If all goes to plan we will do a few dates between here and there, and maybe even head North.
We have also received a few sms' from friends etc saying that they have heard our tracks on FBI and JJJ recently...so keep an ear out for Hailer tunes!!!
And if you're not busy tonight come down to the Gaelic Club, we are playing a few songs as part of a Neil Young Tribute night...along with other class Sydney bands like the Mules and Ryan Hazell.
That is all - have a rainy Wednesday.
