Just stumbled across this one, too. The following appeared in Renew Haven's final print issue sometime in the spring of 2008 right before we became a 3-piece:

I was most impressed recently with Myty Konkeror. This power duo (guitar and drums), is white stripesesque in energy, while having a grungy noisy sound with Kurt Cobainish vocals and riffs reminiscent of sonic youths later days. They’re heavy but no to the point that you feel melted.

White Stripes? Seriously?

Thanks, Renew Haven!

P.S. We make it point to only melt faces.

Here's what StonerRock.com's Matthew Tranker had to say about our EP and early "Wide Skies" single:

Myty Konkeror is a three-piece, with members from Connecticut and New York. They describe themselves as “noisy,” including styles varying from kraut rock to proto-metal.

Myty Konkeror exudes a distinct dissonance in their sound. Their four track EP, The Excluded Middle, has a very punk attitude more than anything else, with some pop elements. I do feel, however, that I could not hear this on the radio - there is too much grit to it. The songs are rather simple, overall, but still have a quality musicianship. The vocals are clean, and sung in a devil-may-care sound and s t y l e. The production is rather stripped down, which gives the music a chance to breathe. The stand out track had to be “Set Design for a Suicide Bomber,” which features a heavy opening and dissonant noises throughout the track. This song has the aspects that make MK very unique.

Myty Konkeror also put out a single and is selling it at their live shows. The single only features two songs. One is a studio track and the other is a live song. Both are newer songs, as they are not featured on their debut EP. Both songs are much longer than anything on their debut. The studio track is about twelve minutes and seems very drug induced, meaning it was long, lethargic, and noisy throughout. This was the same with the live song, though with more structure and a few minutes shorter. One can wonder if this is the path MK will be taking, as this s t y l e is a departure from the EP.

Listening to these two releases, Myty Konkeror seem to be trying to find their sound, or perhaps shifting their sound. Their first release seemed tighter and to the point, while their single is a bit more expansive.

Pretty apt, we think. We can't wait for people to hear our first full-length. Yes, the sound has shifted, and totally gelled. It'll be out soon, and it will lay you to waste.

On November 1 all three members of MYTY KONKEROR as well as Ben Harbert, Evan O'Reilly, and Aram Sinnreich performed three pieces French minimalist composer Erik Satie wrote in 1917 known as "Furniture Music" at Bushwick's Goodbye Blue Monday. A huge thanks goes to Los Angeles 8's Harbert, who arranged the music for the sextet. GBM now does live streams of their shows, then posts them. You can see and hear it here. Just scroll down the page to "Erik Satie's Furniture Music".

The online radio station radiony.org has selected "Set Design for a Suicide Bomber" for airplay. I believe were featured on Episode 5. Check out the site and stream the different episodes. There's some pretty good stuff on there.
