We've had some reviews come along since our debut album came out on Oct 15th. Here are some snippets of the reviews with links to the full review:
From Metal-Rules.com:
"This vicious beast here in our hands was born in Hampton Roads, Virginia in 2005, and it was baptized with the name The Day of the Beast (a quite extraordinary name for a band indeed), featuring 5 lads whose purpose is to prove us that a strike of the beast isn..t something one should deal too lightly with.
The Day of the Beast add cleverly some of the ferociousness and rawness of black metal (ála old Immortal) with old school sounding thrash metal (old Kreator, Merciless, Defleshed, etc.), and the result is – just like so many other similar black/thrash-styled bands (Desaster, Deströyer 666 and so on) have already convinced us by a fair big amount of their own quality releases, simply killer, I must confess."

"I think The Day of the Beast was originally a horror movie. I'm not sure, but I think so. That's a good name for a band, I'll give them that. Throw in the fact that the band plays thrash metal, and it's all good. Now, the thrash metal portrayed here on this first album of theirs isn't really your typical, 80's, KREATOR-DESTRUCTION thrash metal. It isn't proto-thrash, nor retro-thrash, it's somewhere in between, kind of like a cross between ARTILLERY, SODOM and Satan; the Devil, not some band. I don't actually know if there is a band called Satan out there, but I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, I say that because blackened thrash would be the most appropriate way to define these guys. Know those Germans, DESASTER? There you go..."

"Virginia's The Day of the Beast cranks out some seriously ear scorching black thrash on their debut album for Canonical Hours. Starting with a KREATOR-ish foundation The Day of the Beast adds lethal doses of black metal riffing and hints of death metal rhythmic leanings. At times these guys remind me of Sweden's MERCILESS and that is probably the most accurate comparison I can make. Predators Path kicks out searing thrash but with some freezing cold black metal riffing in the middle as well..."

"In Virginia trafen sich vor drei Jährchen zwei Typen mit je einer Gitarre und beschlossen, sich mit anderen Typen und deren Instrumenten harten Tönen zu widmen. So entstand THE DAY OF THE BEAST, die nun als Quintett ihr Debüt abliefern."

If anyone listenin' to our stuff speaks german and wants to hook us up with a translation of that review, that'd be badass. We THINK its a good one...
"I'll be the first to admit that I didn't want to review this album, and not for the reasons you might think either. It has more to do with the fact that once I've reviewed an album, I tend to not listen to it again, especially promo stuff, as it gets archived at home and rarely looked for again. But if I take an extended time to write the review, then I just have the CD in my work machine and listen to it on repeat for weeks on end, usually I get fed up eventually and do the review, but in this case I've been listening to this for over a week now and it just gets better each time. This Virginian quintet play black metal infused with a lot of BAY AREA style thrash elements, which is probably why I enjoy it so much. Think IMMORTAL meets EXODUS and you'll be wrong, or will you... but it has the ferocity and emotion of both..."

"Holy blindsided fuck! What do you get when you combine the best of ABSU, SKELETONWITCH and TOXIC HOLOCAUST? You get sheer madness known as The Day of the Beast, that's what you fucking get! Hailing from Virginia, The Day of the Beast is, simply put, some of the best blackened thrash I have EVER heard. Having just released their debut record, I received this full length in the mail a few weeks ago, along with a couple other Canonical Hours releases. I tell you, these guys have probably been checking this site wondering when the hell I'll get their reviews up, well, it's because Canonical Hours has risen up from out of nowhere to become one of my new favorite indie labels with me partaking in vast amounts of listening pleasures, and this album has much to do with it!"

"There are albums that despite some minor points still make their rounds in my CD player. These albums have a general atmosphere and aggression that make up for the little mistakes, and these albums overall make the listening session to a time well spend. Ah, you guessed it already: this debut album named after the band The Day Of The Beast is one of those full length albums..."

"To be honest, the only thing that drew my attention when I browsed the internet for The day of the beast, was the fact that Justin Shaw (ex-ARSIS) was in the band. This however was very insular of me and that fact became piddling once the record started spinning."

"The Day of the Beast is a relatively new band, gathered together in 2005 in Hampton Roads (Virginia, USA). The Day of the Beats is rather a good name for a metal band, leading my thoughts towards some death/horror images. But it is not exactly the genre these guys are playing. The band draws influences from bands such as Kreator, Morbid Angel, Emperor, Destruction, Sodom, Exodus and other mainly thrash bands. The elements of black metal are present in their music too, but it is mainly thrash metal of the late 80s that is in the center here"

"Here's an interesting thrash metal band. For starters, they aren't playing lame retro thrash or loser-friendly metalcore disguised as thrash. In these godforsaken times, that alone should make a thrash metal band interesting. Fortunately for us, The Day of the Beast have more to offer. Their brand of thrash can roughly be described as a cross between Under the Blade era Defleshed and The Crown. So they sound more Swedish than anything, and while they do have undertones of melody in their music which may make it seem just a tad effeminate at times to the conventionalists, they are undoubtedly straight and have balls to prove it, fuzzy evil balls.
These guys indeed know how to thrash like maniacs. With a crunchy and jagged production, their razor-sharp thrash attack can kick the asses of even some of the jaded slobs around."
