"hey when are you playing a show"
"hey when are you playing next"
"hey when's yr next show"
dude, we just played one like 3 weeks ago. and the showcase was a month before that. i mean, i really enjoy the interest but somehow doubt anybody really wants to listen to this shit again so soon. besides, we're totally worn out finishing up the full-length that nobody's acting fun.
on the other hand, i was totally blown away by the response to the new thing we played at Mroom. some people had their first LJW show and were, "yo that 2nd one was totally fucking rocking" pretty much we're totally spent on the stuff for the CD and are really pumped for new material. over the next few months you probably won't see us playing in philly except for our release show 9/23. we'll be laying low making sure the disc gets pressed right while tinkering with a ton of new shit.
however, the summer is almost over and there are were a few parties offered to us. we'll be playing a pool party in Hammonton, NJ sat 8/26, Fancy Fest in Providence 8/27, and Slaskifest(Allentown) 9/2
the plan is to party hard, play a bunch of covers and fuck around on the new stuff. it won't be a 'typical' LJW show, but a sing/rock'long party like it's 2002 deal. we'll be asking people to grab a mic. everyone's welcome. our tentative list is:
Beastie Boys - Sabotage Beatles - Helter Skelter Black Sabbath - War Pigs Black Sabbath - Paranoid Black Sabbath - Iron man Fugazi - Smallpox Champion Fugazi - Arpeggiator Fugazi - Do You Like Me Guns N' Roses - Paradise City Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine The Kinks - All Day And All Of The Night Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way Nine Inch Nails - Wish Nirvana - Aneurysm Nirvana - Milk It Pixies - Rock Music Pixies - Tame Rage Against the Machine - Bulls on Parade Weezer - Surf Wax America Weezer - Say It Ain't So Weezer - Tired of Sex White Stripes - Seven Nation Army The Who - Substitute
drop a line if you wanna join.

heard there were some awesome things. tell me about them. we had HI! Seoul Festival which is the tableface equivalent of boreadelphia. -stick tongue out-

Current mood:slightly jetlag'd
after that ridiculous party saturday i decided to sleep till 4 and then wake up and finish packing. i stayed up the rest of the night since i'd have to wake at 5am for the flight. martin was cool and kept me company until he passed out. after seeing what he looked like as i shook him awake at 6 i was glad i stayed up.
i guess this blog would be about how it's great to have friends you can't count on, there were a few who really helped not just the one in the title.
first, before i left i had to get my dad's car back to him. unfortunately i had to keep his till the very end, because more tragic than my car getting smashed was the time it took for the garage to get it fixed for the price they ax'd. so i drove up to the valley and hitched a ride back with david. turned him on to drayton sawyer gang. rawk.
left my wallet in david's car. got martin to take me to get over-the-counter drugs and my wallet in quakertown. got martin to take me to the airport. bought him breakfast. drove through a fucking hailstorm on the way. left my coffee in his car. check in was alright.
flight was crowded. couldn't fit the carry on bag. it was hand checked. taxi'd(sp?) to the runway. pilot informed us that there was heavy traffic adn we were 15th in line to take off. that took 2 hours. the flight attendant told me we can make the time up in the air. .....but we didnt'. we landed in san francisco with 13 minutes to catch the connecting flight to Incheon(Korea). the flight attendant decided the way to catch the flight was to have the konnecting koreans push their flight attendant button, so the light could tell the other passengers who should go first. of course, some assholes were in my way as i joined the other dozen little shovelheads running like retards to a flight they'd never catch.
so we got to the gate and there was nobody there and nobody would tell us what we had to do. so i guided the menospeakyengrishys to the lobby were we learned that the next flight to korea wasn't for 24 hours.
it was exactly 24 hours after the flight we missed. i made sure everybody knew what do and what hotels they could stay at. what pissed me off was that i spent all the time translating and booking hotels for the airline's customers, and they stick me on a different flight than everybody else. i had to leave two hours earlier, and then sit around in tokyo for three hours for a fucking layover to seoul. FUCK THAT. i even had to pay for the hotel cause United considered the delay a weather problem. and the cherry on top was that nobody could locate the bag that i checked at the gate. somebody said it was here in san fran, but anotehr person said it went to seoul on the plane we missed? all i knew is that i was to spend a day in san fran in my pajamas. yeah, i figured flying for 24 hours shoudl be comfortable so i put on athletic shorts and a sweatpants, a t-shirt and somehow managed to work in my leather jacket. yeah, quite a site.
the day was about to be a disaster, all my medicines, clothes, vitamins, contraceptives were in my missing bag. thank god i slept on the plane and had my laptop with me. i went to the best western, the cheapest place with a shuttle to and from, internet, a restaurant, and a pool
upon arrival at the hotel i noticed the pool was outdoor, and that it was also rainy in SF. had to authorize a $50 hold on my card to enable the TV and Phone lines. got intot he room and spent 15 minutes enjoying a bed. opened my bag, internet didn't work. made a call to India for customer service(you know how fun that is) took his advice to get the USB adaptor to enable connection. i assumed his intentions were better than his english.
found out from the front desk that the 4th floor doesn't have internet. problem solved, changed rooms. failed at napping, ordered a few drinks and watch game 2 of the playoffs. didn't realize that was the last i'd see for three weeks. but was good. during halftimes i made a few toll free calls, one that got me off that stupid flight to tokyo so i could arrive early and direct to incheon. and i got confirmation that my bag was on its way there, would be locked up and held for me until i got there tomorrow.
fortunately got a call back from someone i left a message for when i first learned of the 24 hour layover. a good friend from high school still lives in San Mateo(15 minutes from SF) and was out of work at midnight. what luck, i got an awesome first experience of jambalaya at the restaurant she manages. i even got to have an Anchor in the city of its brewing. i then got a nice dose of smoke free california. drinking is so awesome when someone isn't blowing shit in yr face. so after all that shit, i made some good. i spent $70 on chocolates that i knew the ladies out here would love(it was a hit) if yer in SF go to See's Candies, they're great. luckily i had one next to my hotel. and i got to see Cynthia whom i hadn't in five years.
got tot he airport on time. almost checked in late cause two dozen germans cut in line. fortunately i heard them say that "united" didn't look like "lufthansa" yeah, i sent their asses back to deutschland in style. anyway, thank god for e-check in. cause those 24 sheisters were nothing compared to the 200 shovelheads that were manually checking in 3 bags each. got to relax before boarding, even ran into the ones who were stuck in SF for the night too. found out i was upgraded to economy plus. TOTALLY worth it.
actgually my head is spinning now. i can't look at monitors after flying, getting a bit dizzy and i just wrote too much, so here's the scoop:
if you go to korea, either do it direct(17ish hours) from DC, or NY(nothing in philly) Asiana and Korean Air have great service. UNITED SUCKS. last timei flied it they forgot my vegan meal and i showed up to tokyo thin as a twig.
DO NOT layover at Narita(tokyo airport). it's only 2 hours to Incheon(seoul) but those two hours are painful cause you just spent the previous day flying as well. and once you land in incheon, you have to go through immigrations, customs, get your bag, exchange your money, and then get a ride to seoul that takes almost an hour. if you fly to Japan, stay there a day or two, get over the jet lag, relax and see the country. otherwise, this extended layover in CA was good, i got to forget about flying, rest, and even see some stuff.
but i will add that when i landed in incheon this time, my bag wasn't there. all of the people who missed the connection in SF on monday were missing the bags that were checked at the gate. so junghwa and i did a little shopping. i got my first pair of jeans in ten years! yeah, i look like an asshole. and then my bag was found/delivered last night.
by far my worst storytelling.

surprisingly Mark didn't BUT Martin DID find out that The Melvins' 2001 album Electroretard opening track is titled 'Shit Storm' dangerous, eh? not really. Contrary to Martin's letter to WPRB we spell it 'Shitstorm' ...world of a difference. yeah seriously, i was told so in a possibly sarcastic email from one accomplished Philly songwriter.

Current mood:got da 'itis
yeah the last blog was supposed to be about the recording we did. it ended up being a whineyshit about being sick and acting like a teenager. so here's the deal we planned on spending the weekend getting all the remaining drum tracks copmpleted. drums usually take us 4-5 hours to set up, mic, tune, level, eq. after that, we start getting tracks. it's tenaciousisityous. it sucks. this session we did a bit more preparation and it paid off. but saturday evening we had finished all the drums, bass, and reworked some of the previous tracks' weak spots. sunday was a short day spent testing sounds for the guitar tracks that will be done next week. it was definitely a good step forward. we decided to do another weekend of drums so we can do two more tracks. so here's what'll you'll hear in a few months wacks on whacks off thief shitstorm technology vs horse AZN and new versions of ABC(and hopefully a new goddamn title, won that doesn't suck) CIS the gift that keeps on giving... keep the change you filthy animal and bits of noise in between altogether should run about 35 minutes. i'm not actually sure when it's gonna be finished. i know that we need 1 day for drums. 1 day for bass/keyboard/basic guitar tracking. 15 minutes for vocals. 3 days for guitars. 2 weeks for mixing so i'm thinking approx $2500 tracked, mixed, mastered. yes, we're raising those funds. so please, donate at the house shows, or DON'T skip out on the cover at a club. and send to my brand new paypal account: crushinator3@gmail.com and BUY CDs. The EP has your name written all over it.

have some kind of allergy/virus mixture..... this weekend we went up to a-town to get a decent omount of recording done. let it be known that the lehigh valley is the worst place to be if you have seasonal allergies. we started friday morning but it wasn't until late that night that my nose decided it didn't like breathing in plant cum. azazazazazazazazazazazazazazrgrgrgrscghrasccgth yeah, so saturday i was all f'd up too. fortunately i managed not to sneeze close enough to any of the microphones. however my luck ran out later that nght. i starting getting aches and feared flu or some bug so i went to bed. only to wake up a few hours later burning up with a 101.7 temperature. poor me. but i found a good in all of this evil. i wrote a song about it. we recorded it. it's gonna be a hit. actually, i woke up feeling a lot better great story, eh? ok, i'll make it up to you......so i stayed at my parents' this weekend. i thought there couldn't be anything more annoying than your mother letting her three-month old puppy run all over you while you're sleeping on her couch. i was wrong. filthy dog tongue all over your face, shredded socks, bitten feet, all are nothing compared to waking up to dialogue like, "hey so your father bought this cereal on accident. i thought you'd want it. it's downstairs. here, let me get it. ........ here, here's the cereal your father accidentally bought. do you want to take this home with you? here, it's called Kashi Double Fiber No Sugar Added Taste Free Make You Shit Mud By Lunch Zero Trans Fat With Almonds Costs Six and a Half Dollars. that sounds like something you'd like, right? " -waives arm to go away- "honey, i can't see you. what do you think?" -waives arm faster and further, possibly to inform one that he is sleeping and wants to be left alone- "honey, i can't see you. i don't have my glasses on. i was doing something that meant i don't need the glasses." "mom, i'm sleeping" "well don't you want the cereal" "mom, i'll eat the cereal when i wake up" "well don't eat the cereal now, take it home with you. well i guess you could eat some now, and give some to your friends, but make you sure you save some for home" -waives arm again and makes a groaning painful sound- "honey, i told you i don't have my glasses on, why are you moving around i can't tell what you're doing" "mom, it's 7am. if taking the cereal means......" "honey, it's 8am didn't you remember to change your clock last night?" "who cares???!!!! it's frickin' early and i want to sleep. please, leave the cereal and i'll get it later" "honey i can't leave the cereal out cause the dog will eat it" i'm exhausted.

Current mood: curious
how many DVD releases are there of Night of the Living Dead. seems like every 9 1/2 months i see a different printing. one includes a horrible vhs quality transfer of it, one includes a nice restoration plus 14 different dull audio commentarie, one includes 13 commentaries, one includes an extra trailer, one includes a spoof movie. and it seems like each one goes out of print within a year. and then there's the collector's editions, the shiny tin ones, or the ones that are numbered limited to 50,000. do we really need to have this many treatments of this movie?????? are these companies making money off a limited press of what i expect is not exactly a cheap publishing right? i really wish one of our friends was Romero's attorney or something.

yesterday felt like a headache. today feels like monday, and monday was. where was monday?
so tell me, are crazy crazy weekends worth it? i know a lot of you were with us for that 3 show ordeal. how's this weekend going for ya?
YO, this is retarded. all i want to say is,
THANKS.
we had a great time at every show last week.
zero one took care of us, danger danger threw the best party of the year, and derek brought the fun on sun.
i don't remember the dude's name who gave me the homemade bar of soap on saturday, but thanks a lot, man. it's in our living room right now.
ATTN: anyone who plays the fire, watch out for the doorway to the gear room. there was a gigantic splinter that went under my pinky fingernail and cause a lot of pain/bleeding. i still can't type too fast without going 'Ouch fuck' okays?
so thanks again, we hope you had a great a time as we did.

Current mood: hot
just in case you don't do the bulletins, here's some info:
Body: you may have noticed the new tracks have been up a week longer than i said they would be. bunch of people ax'd if they could have a few more days to hear the goods, so i figured since he a bunch gigs all over last week i'd leave the tracks up for those curious mosh-pit-ters. this past weekend was nice--lots of people, lots of new people, lots of CDs, lots of awesome bands, i still haven't gone to bed yet, etc.
anyway, i think we have like thirtysome new friends as of today, so i'm gonna leave the tracks up for the newcomers and everybody to check out. i'll give it another week before i pull 'em and put up the other tracks.
also, any rumours you may have heard 'bout a LJW live disc are true. we're collecting bootlegs and board recordings and putting together an EP of the best performances. so far there's a lot of stuff to look at it, and we're just waiting to hear the Slaskifest recording. if any of you have any full shows, clips, pictures, doesn't matter what quality, send it our way. we'll give you a free copy when we're done!
