COMING IN OCTOBER

MAJEURE "Timespan"
TRR145

Majeure is the alter ego of Zombi drummer A.E. Paterra, and Timespan is its debut release. Taking the term "full-length" quite literally, the album is made up of three epic side-long journeys through time and space. Merging the darkness of Vangelis' Blade Runner-era Moog-driven scores and the stately minimalism of Steve Reich and Philip Glass with the relentless drive of Can and Silver Apples, Timespan delivers inspiring sci-fi disco of the highest caliber. Written, recorded and painstakingly produced by Paterra over an 18-month period, Majeure is unique in its careful collaboration of live and electronic sounds. Anchored by Paterra's sturdy, propulsive live drums, each song uses layers of analogue synthesizers to masterfully craft extended compositions that virtually stop time before speeding it up, culminating in countless moments of genuine majesty.
THE FIRST 200 ORDERS WILL RECEIVE LIMITED EDITION COLORED VINYL: WHITE / SKY BLUE / NAVY BLUE MIX.

2. Teleforce

August 29th - we'll be headlining the Sprout Fund's Hothouse Summer benefit party - for more info visit the Sprout Fund's website.  Lots of food and beer, massive sound system, laser show, fog - the things you've come to expect from us but have never gotten.  I'm pretty sure we're playing on the top level of a parking garage.  The next night we're playing across town at the Rex Theatre with new local blood German Shepherd and Shambalis.

These will be our first shows on U.S. soil in over 2 years - I would expect you'd like to be there.  Come spend the weekend in Pittsburgh - the memories will last a lifetime.

HELLO ALL

First would like to thank our guy Bob at Relapse for redesigning our page.  Looks great and super-professional, which is how we like it.

Anyhow, we have additional merchandise available via our online store, most notably the Cosmos 2xLP on Aesthetic Records, and the Self-Titled LP and Twilight Sentinel EP on Wabana Records.

We would have it on our page, but the kind folks at Myspace no longer allow linking to third party pay sites such as PayPal.  Seems they want all the action!

Take care

Though we never announced anything formally, Zombi's been on hiatus now for a couple years, concentrating on writing, recording and avoiding touring at all cost.  Though we briefly considered touring in support of our newest album, Spirit Animal, we decided that the arrangements were too complex for us to pull off live as a duo - and we aren't looking to expand the lineup of the band.  Zombi began as primarily a recording project, and for Spirit Animal we took a studio album approach - building our arrangements without giving thought to our live capabilities.

We'll be laying low for the rest of the year while we prepare our next album.  So hold off on the booking inquires for now - we'll be back next Spring/Summer with new music and shows.

Cheers

MASERATI/ZOMBI "Split"

Long in the making, this split LP finally brings together two similarly influenced and equally provocative groups: Athens, GA's Maserati - with their eternally driving, Krautrock-infused dance anthems - shares the record with Pittsburgh's favorite Italo-cinema fetishists, Zombi. Maserati contributes a pair of two-part epics that show the band progressing away from the sparkly-clean productions of their past in favor of a grittier, more experimental sound, occupying the unlikely space between the dark garage-pop infectiousness of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and the analog synth meditations of Harmonia. On the flipside, Zombi offer a single 14-minute track that slowly and steadily amasses pile of analog synths to build a stage for an extended drum solo (imagine Goblin covering "Moby Dick" and you're almost there). The marriage of these two bands couldn't be more perfect, and the inspiration they have brought each other is evident in both the creative exploration and the superior quality of the tracks. Rather that deliver non-album toss-offs, both groups brought top-shelf a-sides, making this split an essential part of each artist's already rich catalog.

1. MASERATI: Join Us, Mystic Sister
2. MASERATI: No More Sages
3. MASERATI: Monoliths

GENGHIS TRON
"Board Up The House Remixes, Vol. 1"
TRR142
BUY: LP

The inaugural album in the ambitious Board Up The House Remixes series opens with Zombi's Steve Moore expanding the very beginning of "Board Up The House" into a sprawling European film noir soundtrack (hear my remix at myspace.com/stevemoore2600); Jesu's Justin K Broadrick takes the schizophrenic grind of "Colony Collapse" and transforms it into a dirty booty-bass track just screaming for a Missy Elliott hook; Rob Crow incidentally pioneers Mariachi-core by adding some Spanish guitar and festive vocals to "Things Don't Look Good"; and Eluvium reimagines the 10-minute closer "Ergot" as an outer space funeral dirge for the 24th Century. Packaged in a jacket featuring "remixed" album art by Jon Beasley, this pressing is a limited edition of 1,000 copies on a special colored vinyl that corresponds to the artwork. Future volumes in this series will be released by Lovepump United, Anticon, Crucial Blast and Relapse Records.

THE FIRST 1,000 ORDERS GET LIMITED EDITION COLORED VINYL: SILVER W/ ORANGE SPLATTER.
