...THE SPECTACLE IS BREAKING UP
The musically- and politically radical punk rock band The Spectacle from Bodo, Norway has decided to leave and sink a ship that has taken us far and wide. For nearly six years, this band has been defining for the lives of its core members, and has meant a lot to those working with us in the periphery. We have tried to be as musically innovative as true to our roots, as personal as political, as loud as quiet, as calm as aggressive; to thus bend the lines between socially-, culturally- and politically accepted contradictions. We have sought - and succeeded, we would argue - to show people in our local environment that all you need to do what you want, is courage and some momentum. Who would have thought, at the end of the nineties, that a band from Bodo few years later would go on a two month long tour, promoting an album that has barely received a negative word? Most important of all: we did it ourselves, with the help of friends who also insist on doing it themselves.
Our last adventure together will be the forthcomming tour in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. The last show ever, at least until we fall for cliches, money and reunions, will be in our hometown Bodo on the 9th of June.
Expect the members of The Spectacle to appear in musical- and political projects in the near future.
We thank you for now, and see you at the barricades! All we need is courage and a brick.
Yours truly, The Spectacle.
