Had a chance to spend some time with Lemmy Kilmister and Slim Jim Phantom yesterday.  They were in town to play a show at Brick by Brick with their band The Head Cat.  It's an all covers show featuring some of their favorites from Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly!  Motorhead meets The Stray Cats sort of...

It's always nice to meet some people you look up to and admire, especially when they are really, really cool to you!  No picture, just a memory for me!

Even passed on a CD from local band The Strikers who have riffs like Motorhead and an upright bass player to boot!  It IS Motorhead meets The Stray Cats!!!

I missed the show that night and that's all I'll say...

December 4th - Tralala & The Lord Henry $5 @ the Beauty Bar (4746 El Cajon Blvd.) in Lovely City Heights

Tralala - !!!NEW ALBUM OUT NOVEMBER 14TH 2006 ON AUDIKA RECORDS!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is That The Tralala will be clawing it's way into a record store near you! Tralala was built on the sounds of early rock and roll, 60's girl-groups, and classic punk, but "Is That The Tralala" sees the group drop some of the pretense inevitably attached to exploring definitive sounds. It delivers instead 12 new originals , played fast and loose, full of hooks and hook-ups and fast cars and dead ends, and all wrapped up neat in under 3 minutes. Add to this a perfect pair of covers of The Wipers and Giorgio Moroder, and you have a record that aims low, scores high, and leaves you wanting more…what else do you need?

March 21st, 2006 was a very memorable day and night for me!  I put together a show at the Casbah featuring several new bands -  UV Tigers with Gary and Aaron formerly of Scarlet Symphony (their first show), Grand Ole' Party a band that recently moved here from SF based on their love of Scarlet Symphony, The Power Chords (still amazing) and another debut, the return to the stage for Garly Shuffler, local music legend.  From Honey Glaze to his various cover projects, this is his first return to the stage with original music in over 12 years!  Wow!  The crowd was on fire, you could feel the magic happening!  I love selling out free shows!  Hopefully, eventually everybody got in!  Look for great things out of this group of artists!  I'm still drunk with joy from last night.  Thanks to all my friends, all the bands, the Casbah, Mike Halloran and anybody that loves music and has a positive attitude.

Pyles out!

Great weekened for music here in town!  What with Street Scene and Hank III on Monday!  That was my weekend, at least!  I sat on-stage during The Flaming Lips, watch locals Louis XIV and The Locust from side stage, plus I met Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas!  Hank III kicks ass too!  Go see em sometime!

I recently had the opportunity to meet another one of my Rock and Roll heroes - Robert Plant!  It was quick, I did get to shake his hand, but alas no pictures to have proof of my encounter.  It's in my memory, so that's a good thing.  I've been fortunate to meet quite a few famous people through my career in radio and this was most definitely a highlight.  Up there with meeting Mick Jagger and KISS!!!

I love Rock and Roll!
