We're looking for authentic piano, organ, etc. sounds only, not looking for crazy synth stuff. Old, vintage Vox and Farfisa organs are super cool, but so are more modern setups that can emulate a Hammond B3, a Chuck Berry sounding piano, or several vintage organs. We're up for all sorts of things, as long as they're true to our sound.

Last night's show couldn't have gone better. We were given the honour of following the New York Dolls, as the official after-show. About 3 songs in the Tavern was almost full and the crowd pretty much kicked ass. If you are reading this and you were there, then we'd like to say THANK YOU! The ones rocking up front near the stage, the ultra-cute girls dancing behind them, and those elsewhere who cheered on with beers-in-hand... you all completely rule. Thanks to those who've bought the CD, and if you haven't, please visit iTunes and check out our ultra-modern download mania or visit our CDBABY site... they're a great distributor and treat bands well. Here's a link for that:

If you were at the show we played with The Woggles last night, I just wanna say thank you! Great crowd, especially for a Thursday, everyone was having so much fun. Even if the house is packed it can be a bit dull if the crowd is acting generally too cool for the room. The Woggles were great and openers Luxery Units have a cool gritty sound going on. I'm glad we got to do a really fun show before our short break. Well, a short break from the stage, we'll be practicing our asses off, adding some fun elements to the live show, mixing our record, getting ready for the release show November 2nd at the Beachland. Exciting, eh?

If you'd like to get a copy of our debut release, the He's Waitin' single, send a message for mail order information. $3 in person at a show, $4 via mail order. The extra buck is for postage. Worldwide, just an extra dollar. We'll take PayPal, and if that's what you want, we'll give you that information. This is a very limited release, we won't press more than a couple hundred. He's Waitin' will NOT be included on the soon-to-come full length release, so this is the only place to get it. If you're not aware, The Sonics were the hands-down unsung heroes of 1960's garage bands and He's Waitin' is one of our favorite tracks they did. The artwork is an homage to the cover of the record the song was originally included on, called Boom. It's still available, so after you pick up our single, make sure you get a copy of the original!!!

Don and Brandon are currently twisting knobs until everything sounds wonderful. No, not that kind of knob twisting, that's personal and has nothing to do with making a record. We're mixing. Compressors, EQ, that sort of thing. Yes, it has been taking a long time, we know this. But we assure you it will be worth it. We might have a single for sale at the next show on July 28th, at the Waterloo Arts Festival. It'll likely contain one exclusive track that won't be on the record and a "B Side" that will have to share the same side as the other track due to the limitations of the compact disk format. Yes, we'd absolutely love to put it out on vinyl... wanna press it for us?

See you there, we're the last band of the daytime events... 6pm, outside stage, corner of Waterloo and E. 156th, near the Beachland Ballroom.

Yes, we did begin recording in December. No it's still not finished. We tracked the band live in a day and a half and recorded 14 songs. Spent the rest of the winter playing some great shows, and tracking vocals at the home studio in between sinus problems. Gotta love trying to make a record in Cleveland during the winter months. Due to some technical issues, some of the guitars are being redone. Brent fixed his stuff yesterday and Don will fix his 2 weekends from now. Next weekend will be spent opening for the Detroit Cobras at the Beachland Ballroom. Yes, we want to finish the record, but you can't turn down killer show offers like that one! Once Don has his guitar day we will move on to mixing and this sucker will be in the can. There is no title as of now, but we're thinking something simple and indicitive of a first record.

Opening for The Pretenders at the Cleveland Agora was nothing short of amazing. The crowd was great, the stage sound was beautiful, and Chrissy Hynde thanked us for playing during their set and called us great. Chrissy Fucking Hynde called us Great. We have photos and video from the show, I'll be posting some soon. This coming weekend (December 16 and 17) we will begin recording our first record. Everything you've heard up to this point has just been a demo, and finally there will be REAL versions of these songs. Stay tuned, and thanks to everyone who came out to see us live this year!

A friend emailed us a link to this review, from www.coolcleveland.com -

Usually, you'll find a CD review in this weekly space we deem Cool Cleveland Sounds. But every once in a great while, an act will light up this reviewer's ears and inspire the flat-out rejection of traditional album review conventions. Such is the case with Mod-inspired rockers Living Stereo, who recently opened up for Josh Homme's garage rock outfit, Eagles of Death Metal, at the Agora Ballroom. Living Stereo features a venerable "who's who" of musicians who have graced bands ranging from Cobra Verde and Guided By Voices, to Sidecar, Jimmy Zero's Lesbianmaker, Lives of the Saints and others. They've been around, but never quite like this.
Like Mod-drenched national headliners Head Automatica, this quintet makes no bones about the infectious, hip-shaking grooves it aims for. They start with that quintessential R&B backbeat that launched the British Invasion (the Beatles, the Who and the Kinks come to mind) and construct a peppery punk/new wave explosion around that foundation with a sound that recalls Mod revivalists The Jam. Then, when it seems it couldn't get any tastier, they lace everything with a bit of the Stooges, Elvis Costello, Wire and XTC -- sans that Partridge stage fright. Nothing about these 5 guys qualifies as "shy" when they're on stage.
The results are fun, fresh, inventive... and you can't leave a gig of theirs without a smile on your face. It's obvious that Brandon Abate (vox), Brent Ferguson (guitar), Brian Moon (drums), Jeff Deasy (bass) and Don Depew (guitar) just love what they're playing. No going through the motions with these guys. Just pure tasty licks and attitude. If these guys don't break out of Cleveland, well... I won't say that I'll eat one of Thomas Mulready's porkpie hats. But I would be inspired to start buying airline tickets for record executives -- one way, to CLE -- if such gestures even matter in the Internet Age, that is. I love this band and I can't wait to hear this new effort they're working on together. Stay tuned to these pages for more info.
Living Stereo opens for the all-female tribute act Lez Zeppelin at the Beachland Ballroom Thursday, November 16. After a slew of successful shows, we're ready to pace ourselves a bit, craft some new songs, and add back some of the older songs that the 3 newer members of the band haven't played yet. We've decided to block out a few studio days in early December to begin tracking for an LP. We plan on releasing it ourselves, however if an appropriate label comes along, we'll be open to talk. Doing it ourselves personally excites me however, so we'll see. We'll make some rough practice-room demos along the way, and who knows, maybe I'll post some of those on here. We'll get photos made soon, and finally update the actual livingstereo.net website.

Thanks to all who have come to the recent shows... we're still going to be booking some things in the coming months, but we'll be a bit more selective, so we can focus on adding songs and recording.

We'd like to extend our condolences to good friends and a great band, Amps 2 Eleven, who have recently called it quits. XOXOXO
