It is with great sadness that I see that Stamina MC will be left off the bill when his partner in crime DJ Marky returns to Australia in a few months. Surely this is like leaving the sauce off the pie or a beer left out of the fridge and is something I have no idea why anyone would think is clever to do. We have had Marky here before without the aid of his very able orator and he was still outstanding, but the combination of the 2 is still and will always be the thing that offers an almost life changing experience for the listener. Whilst we are all so quick to critique MC’s (do they really need to keep getting in my ear at clubs when they’re lagered up and extra smiley while I’m just trying to enjoy myself?), when there is talent at the level of Stamina, Cleveland Watkiss, Conrad and a slew of others that don’t end in ‘D’ or ‘dee’ et al then surely their skill has to be acknowledged as a hugely important part of Bass and Drum culture which by ‘ignoring’ or thinking that it can be left out diminishes a scene and culture many of us are fiercely passionate about (and is far more important than dollars and cents)…
Whilst you are reading this, possibly feeling like your level of festiveness on the weekend extended your body and mind’s capabilities, put those feelings in check and get some Berocca or the like back in your body to reinvigorate yourself for another party weekend. Friday night Locus and No Frills get together to bring a welcome detour for their camp in Hospital signed Logistics and Cyantific at the ....Phoenix..... This is definitely going to be huge so make sure you get there early as capacity is limited…
The following week see’s those crazed lads that when are all put in a room together (without the padding) call themselves Diffusion throwing a party back at the Burdekin again. This time enlisting the more than able talents of everyone’s dad, ‘Fire’, who will surely unleash some funk fuelled tech addled broken bizness that will definitely bring the ‘knees up’ vibes. Fire is very well known for making a party happen (which can be all too rare in DnB these days) as well as maintaining seriously high quality of music which always makes for a pleasurable experience. A man that graces the decks all too rarely these days, so best you check him while you have the opportunity...
There has been a ridiculously large amount of amazing records floating around recently, so I’ll get knee deep in that next time…
