Sometimes you just have to ask!  It's tough to ask for help, but we're going through one of those patches where we probably should be. So if you have a second, check out the link below, and if you have something to spare, or just want to support, or really want a song written about you, or want more Park the Van releases on vinyl, or a special limited edition 5 year anniversary compilation cd, that would be cool too.

Thank you,

Good day friends!

We couldn't possibly be any more excited to tell you about two new albums that we've released today that we want you to own.

First up, the latest and greatest effort from the High Strung. Recorded outside of Toronto w/David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals, Los Campesinos!). This High Strung record is the most expansive and experimental album the band has recorded to date. Songs like "In the Middle", "Guilt is how I'm built" and "Rope" have become instant favorites in the PTV office. Please go out and buy this record! If you don't have an awesome record store in your town, buy it from one of the sources below:

Park the Van E-store - $12.00 (CD)

iTunes - $9.99 (digital)

Amie Street - $3.60+ (digital)

Emusic - subscription

This next record infecting the brainspaces of unsuspecting music lovers all over the world. Fans of Sharon Jones & the Dapkings, early Wailers, and "One Foot in the Grave" era Beck will soon realize why they are falling madly in love with this debut record from Seth Kauffman's Floating Action. You may have seen them on tour last year with Dr. Dog, or Band of Horses. This is one of those records that could easily define your summer. Soundtrack for your soul ese!

Park the Van E-store - $12.00 (CD)

iTunes - $9.99 (digital)

Amie Street - $4.66+ (digital)

“if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends.” –Miss Penny Lane, Almost Famous

It’s the records themselves, the songs that are on them, the liners stuffed inside with thank yous and photos and nuggets of info. Records feel like old friends.  And new ones too.  So many people are making vinyl again, and a lot of it is really nice vinyl too.  Thick and colorful and full of beautiful artwork.  At Park the Van, we’re doing our best to make vinyl for as much of the music we put out as possible.  Thank you so much for demanding it and letting us know you want it, by buying it!

“They” all tell us that this is a dying concept, the idea of selling music and people buying it.  And, we’re not gonna sugar coat it, this is tougher than ever!  But, there’s so much to be excited about, so many great records, so many people that really care a lot about all of this.  Record Store Day is an amazing symbol of the importance of this greater music loving community.  If us music lovers were Water Buffaloes, record stores would be the lodges, and record store employees are the Grand Pubas.  They should all get those awesome hats.

If it’s possible at all for you, please take the time to go to your local mom n pop owned community record store and hang out today, 4/18/09.  Don’t have any money to spend like so many of us right now?  That’s alright, just go and hang out.  Be a part of the solidarity that this worldwide event has become.  It kind of feels like a birthday party for music.  Music is your friend.  Go to the record store and visit it. Celebrate its birthday. Or maybe re-birthday?

We're pleased to remind you that Dr. Dog will be performing this Thursday (April 2nd) on Jimmy Fallon! You can watch Dr. Dog play a number from their album FATE, and I'm sure Seth Rogan (another guest) will be serving up chuckles. Where are we watching it?

Love,
