ok I don't try to get political ever (except with the wife). but I read something today that just sent me over the edge!!! I am neither a democrat or a republican, but I now have a clearer picture of why people refer to democrats as "dumbocrats". this is on the ANWR website (the alaskan wildlife refuge homepage):
During the oil embargo in the 1970s, we imported about 34 percent. We are almost totally dependent now on oil from offshore. American oil is not available to this country. The alarming fact is, the military is the largest consumer of oil in the country. It uses about 4.8 billion gallons of oil per year. The problem really is, if we had an embargo today, we could not sustain our military, let alone our essential infrastructure. Our economy could not survive another embargo.
We need to realize we can produce American energy to meet our needs. If we produce it over a period of years, the price will be stabilized. The interesting thing is, on May 1--right here on the Senate floor--the senior Senator from New York called drilling in the Arctic Plain ..plain wrong.' He said it was an ..old saw.' He said the field's probable 1 million barrels a day would reduce gas prices ..only a penny a gallon.'
Then, on May 11, the Senator from New York, Mr. Schumer, said:
"There is one way to get the price of oil down and it's two words--Saudi Arabia. If they were to increase by 800,000 barrels per day, the price would come down probably 35 to 50 cents a gallon. That's a lot."
Now, why would 800,000 barrels of Saudi oil reduce gas prices 50 cents a gallon and 1 million barrels of American-produced oil from our State reduce the price at the pump only a penny?
As a matter of fact, the Senator from New York said this extra supply from Saudi Arabia would probably reduce the price of a gallon of gas by 62 cents before it was all over.
Imagine that: 800,000 barrels of oil from Saudi could bring down the price of a gallon of gasoline by 62 cents. There is an absolute inconsistency with what the Senator from New York has told the Senate. I find that appalling on a thing such as the oil supply now, in view of the price of gasoline for Americans at the pump. They are paying the price because of President Clinton. They are paying the price because of stubborn opposition to develop the resources of my State.
Now, they tell us that drilling in the arctic could harm the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. It will not. As a matter of fact, the land we are going to develop was set aside in the act of 1980, a million and a half acres in the Arctic Plain, so it could be explored. It will not be part of the Arctic Wildlife Refuge until the exploration and development of that area is over.
I think there is no question we have to find a way to have the Members of this body make up their minds: What is the problem America faces today? It is supply. Our demand is increasing, like the rest of the world, but we do not have an American supply of oil. Off our shores, and in the deep water off of Alaska, there is a bountiful supply of oil. We have two-thirds of the Continental Shelf of the United States, and there is only one well on that two-thirds of the Continental Shelf.
If you just look over to the other side of the Bering Straits in Russia--Russia, which was a net importer of oil just 20 years ago, now is a net exporter of oil. Why? Because they developed the Arctic and the OCS off their shores. They now have a strong economy in Russia. Why? Because they do not export petrodollars anymore. They use money in their own country to finance development in their own country.
We have to make up our minds whether we are going to face blind opposition, incorrect, and uninformed opposition, or whether we are going to take the actions needed to develop American oil to meet American demand, and whether we are going to use the deep water off our shores to produce oil as does the rest of the world.
Norway produces oil off their shores. Britain produces oil off their shores. As a matter of fact, we produce oil off our southern shore, but we are prevented from producing oil off our northern shore. It is absolutely inconsistent and irrational what we are facing.
Our pipeline, at its peak, was transporting 2.1 million barrels of oil a day to the west coast of the United States. Today, it is producing about 700,000 barrels a day. It is two-thirds empty, in effect. It would not need a new pipeline to carry the oil that would be produced in ANWR. It is there. It could carry more than 1 million barrels a day, easily. Yet it has been opposed. It has been opposed for over 20 years, by the same irrational people who come to the floor and say: Oh, oh, Saudi Arabia, produce more oil. Produce 800,000 barrels of oil a day, and we can probably expect gas prices at the pump to come down 62 cents. But if you bring 1 million barrels of oil down from Alaska, it is only going to affect by a penny
WTF?? obviously this guy has shit for brains!!! 1 million barrels will only drop gas a penny a gallon, but 800,00 barrels from saudi arabia will drop it 62 cents a gallon?? no wonder this country is in the shape it is in with FUCKING MORONS like Charles Shumer running this country! the people in this country are obviously as retarded as this jackass if they keep voting for tools like this!!! why do we buy our oil from overseas if we can drill for it here and produce it here and sell it here? I guess common sense is something that disappears when you win an election!! I thought Bush was in bed with the Saudis, but obviously he isn't the only one! it must be a really big bed to get all of those criminals in washington to fit in it!! GOD HELP US get rid of the idiots in DC!!

Current mood:Still Pissed
well, as I posted in my last blog, I am currently seeking a new job, since my position (and the positions of about 10 others) was eliminated! I get a phone call last Monday wanting to know if I will come back and work for ONE WEEK the first week of April!! what a bunch of horseshit!! they must think we are stupid! why on earth would I want to go back to that hellhole and subject myself to working 7 straight 12 hour days?? or anyone for that matter?? and it isn’t even during the same pay period, so I wouldn’t even get that much overtime ! needless to say, I am in the market for a new job so when they call me back and ask me if I want to work for a week, I can tell them with no hesitation to KISS MY BIG WHITE HAIRY ASS!! so, if anyone knows of anyone that is hiring, it would be much appreciated!!

well, things are pretty much the same here as always. life is ok (not good, not bad). other than losing my dog, truck and job in the span of 3 months, that is. losing the truck and job didn't hurt as much as losing my little buddy . but this blog isn't about being depressed. it is about freedom from a fortune500 company that could care less about its people. I worked there through a temp service under the pretense of eventually being hired on full-time (after all, according to my temp agent 70% of all people get hired on through this service. BULLSHIT!) things are going great until the company hired a new president (douchebag) who decided that he needed to cut costs at all costs!! this coming from a guy who has suits that are worth more than a years salary for some employees, but I digress. it is the same everywhere you go.....upper management cries about cost-cutting while they drive their beamers and mercedes to and from work....wonder if they ever thought they were overpaid?? now, that is funny!!

anyone remember the justice league cartoons??
I was just thinking about them recently and a few things came to mind:
1. Superman was an attention whore-think about it, whenever something happened, he would say something stupid like "I'll use my x-ray vision". Like we forgot what his super powers were, he had to remind us!! freakin moron
2. Batman always had to brag about his batmobile (hey baby, wanna cruise in my superhero car??)
3. Aquaman-was there anyone more useless than this joker?? how many people commit a crime and then flock to the sea (except for Doctor Evil)? I mean come on, anyone ever commit a crime underwater? "Let's go harry, we will knock off this bank, and travel 500 miles to the ocean, then we will hot-wire a submarine and make our getaway (insert evil laugh here)" "they'll never suspect a thing!!! RATS!!! foiled by aquaman!!!" I feel much safer with that band of superheroes protecting my freedom!!
kinda makes ya wanna root for the Legion Of Doom, eh??

just some thoughts I have had on my mind for a while.. first of all, I was reading Newsweek (I know, that is a shocker) when I realized what a bad way this country is in, particularly the upcoming presidential race. There is NO ONE running right now that is worthy of the office (even though that hasn't stopped us from voting the last 4 idiots in office). it is a sad, sad day when people think the bitch is the best choice for president (although I have no problem with the thought of a woman president, just not THAT woman). it really isn't going to matter who is in office if we don't start taking our rights back and getting rid of these 30-40 year senators who have no concept of what a real job is!! People can blame Bush for the gas problems, but he is one man, there are about 550 more people in Washington that are just as responsible, just remember that when you start hating (there is plenty of that going around too), share the wealth!! That leads me to my next thought..........I should run for president!! think about it, people give ya money to run, you get federal money, and someone will donate transportation! and look at all the free meals!! I could charge $100 a plate to have dinner with me and that will undercut the dems and reps. by $4900!! I could run on the platform as "your cheaper alternative!!" and besides, who wouldn't spend $100 to have dinner with me?? lmao. next thing is........people bribe you to have a stance on something, and it is perfectly legal!!! do I want to vote for higher gas prices?? no, but someone will offer me money to vote yes, and someone will offer me money to vote no, so I can't lose either way!!! the possibilities are endless!! I could single-handedly ruin some crooked lobbyists (insert evil laugh here) by double-crossing them and someone would take a bullet for me!! is this a great country or what?? next rant.........I hate the ACLU (American Communist Lovers Union) I should sue them for violating my civil rights! how you ask?? simple..........they want to sue this sherriff in butler county for rounding up illegal aliens, saying their civil rights are being violated.................WTF?? they are in this country illegally, how can they have rights that are for legal citizens?? is it a civil right to be a criminal?? anyways, I figure I am going to sue them for violating my rights to have my laws protected by people who are paid to do that sort of thing!! I mean, what is the sense in having laws if idiotic organizations like the ACLU want to strip this country of them?? anyways, I didn't mean to get all political, but someone has to take the bull by the horns and get this country back on the right track!! why not me to stimulate a couple of minds?? lol

well, it finally happened.. I stayed home from work (doctors orders), but you know what?? I could get used to this (if only I could still get paid I could make a living out of it). I have missed 3 days in 3 years before this (wife was in the hospital), but I don't feel the least bit guilty, and that feels GOOD! before you think, man this guy really hates his job, that is not the case at all. I love my job it's the people I work with I can't stand (except harley, justin, dave and kenny who are for the most part pretty cool). being a tire guy isn't exactly the most glamorous job either, you have to deal with morons on a daily basis and that is just the store management!! (insert bada bing here). let me give you some examples: for instance, our store hours are 7 am to 7 pm (except when a customer comes in at 6:59 and demands service (the slimy bastads) then it is whenever the hell we can leave, but, if we stay late, we have to leave early another day because our store manager can't let us have overtime (god forbid). and another thing is company policy.......OMG our company policy is not set in stone, but more like a clay substance which can be altered at our managements convenience (to make themselves look good I am sure).I actually asked a manager once why we had to stay after closing to take care of a customer.....his reply was "what would you think if you were that person?" I wasn't prepared for that answer, If I had been my response would have been "I would have a little more respect for those people and not come in at closing time and then cry to management when we wouldn't do the work." anyways, since I won't be there after next week, I will tell you all more (no need for this blog to fall into the wrong hands and have to listen to them for the next 7 days, 6 hours and 11 mins (but I am not counting down the hours or anything). till next time take care of yourselves, and each other.
