Let me start by saying the Mystic Tan float was Johns vision, and I was just there to assist on making it happen. John entered the float into the parade under the name Mystic Transformation, the name was based on his them of a booth located in a fairyland forest that transforms Geeks into Goddess and Goddess into Geeks. The float was equipped with special effect such as a fog machine, strobes, Christmas lights, disco lights, and confetti cannons. The booth was very impressive as you could see, I give John praise for everything.

The conversation with Janelle was unexpected and very overwhelming to me. She began by sharing her thoughts on the business venture together, and also how I was an inspiration to her. This was the first time anyone had shared their feedback on how I was doing as their Boss/Partner. Yes, we all got along as friends and business partners, its just the first time I hared how I was doing. Janelles heart felt speech was a pleasant surprise that I will remember always.

I wont lie I was a little worried about if they were going to still have the same drive that they have continually shown me throughout this business venture. It can be little defeating having to start over again and again. Also, remember the revenue generated by the studio dictates their pay. You see every time we got a little momentum on our side, we had to shut it down due to another hurricane.

STA Travel sent the kids to Spain on their well-deserved vacation giving me the time to put Mystic Tan back to its original state, as if nothing ever happened. A major clean up and restoration was needed, since Hurricane Wilma left us with a nice remembrance of her presence at Mystic Tan Sunless Studio. She flooded our studio with thousands of gallons of dirty, nasty ocean water, that was mixed with all kinds of foreign debris, some of which Im not going to mention. A lot of our things were completely destroyed such as, carpet, rugs, apparel, washer/dryer, electronics and furniture. On a positive note, the Mystic Tan Booths were just fine after a lot of cleaning, and I mean a lot of cleaning.

Yes, our studio flooded. Yes, it was a mess. Watching all that again brings back memories of tough days. So, I like reading this positive story from Cindi about her MT experience. A needed bost.

"The initial shock of the spray was still a bit unsettling, but I was ready. And it was much easier holding my breath this time - I guess I wasnt as nervous.

That night, I showered before bed again, and woke up like a bronzed beauty!

I love it, love it! The color is very natural for me - not too dark. And the best part - no streaks whatsoever! The only part I needed to even out a bit were my feet, in which I basically buffed away the un-evenness, and used a little jiffy tan in its place.

I have decided that I will get sprayed once every 5 days for the rest of the summer to keep looking my bronzed best. I will have to let you know how it lasts! And it is only costing me $12 a tan, as I bought a 10 session package.

"We then went to commercial, and when we returned, the found the roomies entering the Mystic Tan salon with the help of their random forty-five year old friend. I didnt know who the guy was, but I assumed he spent most of his time on a houseboat, throwing bread crumbs to sea gulls, smoking bud and telling stories about his old friend Carl from college (who probably died in Nam). Anyway, the gang entered the salon and were met with the warm and comforting odor of damp carpet. And feces. And just nastiness in general. The smells are disgusting: from mildew to sewage. Its just disgusting, Zach said, and no, he wasnt describing his hair. Apparently Wilma had flooded the salon.

The odds of three Hurricanes hitting Key West in a season is about 1000 to 1 and 2 have hit since weve started the Mystic Tan Sunless Studio venture. Start-ups are very hard and time consuming on their own. Add multiple Hurricanes to the mixture and see what you get. Here are the paths the Hurricanes took. Weve had bodybuilders and wrestlers, Playboy centerfolds, said Scott Shortnacy, who owns eight Washington-area Solar Planet salons, which feature tanning beds and Mystic Tan.?Seventy percent of indoor tanners are women between 20 and 35, Mr. Overstreet said. Tanning sessions are not cheap, with some costing $25 per session, and requiring many applications. The solution is supercharged with static electricity, and the technology is the same as that used for spray painting cars.
