Current mood: thankful
Category: Religion and Philosophy
Hey Friends!
I love this time of year! Every year, by the end of summer, I am so ready for cooler weather! Florida summers are intense! And this year was especially hot...and long. But that's over now and I'm enjoying the need of a jacket in the evenings!
And Thanksgiving is coming!!! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas! I have so much to be thankful for, but it's so easy to get used to the blessings I have and feel like I am entitled to more. I don't want to have a pity party, I want to have a Thanksgiving feast! I have been trying to focus on the little things everyday that I am thankful for. Hearing a favorite song come on the radio, having fun playing Mad Libs with my siblings, a good meal, a good book, a nice customer at the restaurant I work at, the sun shining just so on a palm tree that's swaying in the breeze. "Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows," James 1:16,17. So what are you thankful for? It doesn't have to be big. What made you smile today? What gave you a moment's peace? What warmed your heart? Give thanks to your Father who gave you these things. He never changes. He is always good.
The other day I was reading the book of Habakkuk - which is a gloomy little book near the end of the Old Testament. I don't know the historical context of the story, but I do know that the book is made up of a few of Habakkuk's prayers and God's answers to those prayers. In the end, Habakkuk closes with this proclamation of faith in God no matter what happened: "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength...." Habakkuk 3:17-19. How powerful is that? Habakkuk didn't even have any "things" to be thankful for, but he still rejoiced in God his Savior!
I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving and find many reasons to give thanks and praise to God this year and every year!
Rejoicing in my Savior, Chris

Hello Friends, I think I have been suffering from blogger's block lately. Every time I try to write a blog, I sit at the computer staring at the screen trying to figure out what to say. I believe it is Twitter that has ruined me. My thoughts are only 140 characters long these days ;-).
So, it's been over three years since our first EP Can You Hear It? was released and we are finally about to release our second EP, Hourglass. Starting our own studio was probably the best decision we've made since deciding to start a band! Andrew really loves engineering and production...and he's good at it too! I am proud of him for all the work he has poured into this album. I can't wait for you guys to hear it!
The first weekend of this month we played in three different states in three days, which was a first for us. It was so much fun! I expected to be tired and ready to go home when all the shows were over, but instead I wanted to stay on the road. It was sort of our first taste of life on the road and it went well. Now I'm itching to go back out! Unfortunately, we don't play out of state very much because the costs are so much higher when you have to stay in hotels and use so much gas.
Okay, I wrote a blog. And it's longer than 140 characters. Mission accomplished! Until next time,
Chris

Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
Hey Friends, We've been cooking up LOTS of plans the last few months and now we're on the brink of putting these plans into action. We are VERY excited about all we have coming up in the next few months. First, this month we'll be playing several shows throughout Florida to kick off The Hourglass Tour! The first of which is this Saturday at Bethany Temple Church of God in Tarpon Springs, FL. This is a FREE concert so please come on out and join us for the first show of the tour! And if you live too far away or just can't make it, I have great news. The concert this Saturday night, March 7th, will be broadcast LIVE at http://www.bethanytemple.org/ at 6:30 PM EST! Second, we are still hard at work on the Hourglass EP and plan to release it digitally in April worldwide! The specific release date is top secret information at the moment - only God knows when it is! As soon as He clues us in on His plans we will definitely let you all know! We would really appreciate your continued prayers for this project. Things are coming along well, but it's going to be tough to get it done in time for the second leg of The Hourglass Tour. And that brings us to our Third bit of news. We are booking several shows in the early part of May in GA, SC, NC, TN, etc.! In our four years as a band, we have only played in Florida and Georgia, so we are REALLY excited about bringing our music to these other states! We are also talking to several churches as far west as Texas about bringing The Hourglass Tour out there this summer! If you are interested in bringing the tour to your church or venue, send our manager, Mark Boyce, an e-mail at truthbombmanager@yahoo.com. And yes, Mark is our dad! Also, another way you guys can help us out is to tell your pastor/worship leader/youth pastor, or whoever is in charge of booking bands at your church, about our music and ministry. And if you want to take it a step further, you can then e-mail our manager with the contact info for that person so we can follow up. The biggest obstacle for independent bands is obscurity. If you have told, say, your youth pastor about us and then our manager calls him up, he will now know who Truth Bomb is and that there is at least one fan in his youth group. He'll already have a reason to book us. And of course, telling your friends and family about us is awesome! That's probably one of the biggest ways we gain new fans. And last but not least, we now have a Facebook fan page, so go become a fan of Truth Bomb! We are also on Vimeo and 12seconds and we will be posting more video updates soon. Thanks so much for reading! Hope to see you soon on The Hourglass Tour! Blessings to you! Andrew, Christin and Kaitie

Current mood: excited
Hey Friends!
Last month we released a song called "Pray for You" and this month it's "Times Like These". Both songs are from our upcoming EP called Hourglass which we are currently recording and plan to release this winter! We are very excited about this project as it has been two and a half years since our first EP, Can You Hear It?, was released. Currently the track listing for the Hourglass EP is:
Truth Bomb
Pray For You
The Hourglass Song
Shining Light
Times Like These
"Times Like These" is a rather simple song that we wrote more than a year ago. When it was first finished we didn't play it out for several months because we couldn't figure out a good arrangement for it. Our tendency was to overplay the song. Finally we decided to just have Andrew play an acoustic guitar and sing the song by himself. "Times Like These" has since become a concert favorite and we have been amazed at the way God has used it to encourage those going through difficult times.
"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 (CSB)
"Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'Because of You we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!" Romans 8:35-39 (CSB)
What an amazing promise that is to those who are in Christ! God has not promised us an escape from pain - in fact He promises the opposite - but He has also declared that He will never leave us or forsake us (Heb. 13:5)! One day He will come again and do away with death and sorrow and pain and wipe all our tears away. But until then He will be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20)!
Since we released "Pray for You" last month, our dad (who is our manager for those of you who don't know) has been emailing radio stations all over the world to let them know about our new single. We have been shocked (in a good way) by the responses. A few stations have already picked up "Pray for You" (one of them is even playing our older music) and there are a few more who are interested. We are very excited about this because it is very difficult to get on the radio, especially FM, as an independent artist. We are grateful for the doors God has opened! Who would have guessed that these songs we've been recording in a bedroom would be heard by so many people! That's almost a scary thought!
So we've been cooking up some ideas lately, one of which was the Hourglass EP. Another idea we've had is to record a couple Christmas songs this year to release on our Myspace page. If you have any suggestions for what songs we should do, please let us know!
We also recently got ourselves a Twitter! If you're scratching your head wondering what I'm talking about, don't worry! Twitter is a cool website where you can post brief updates (less than 140 characters) in between blogs. So if my long ramblings bore you, you can get brief updates on our goings-on at our Twitter page. Just check out www.twitter.com/truthbomb. We're thinking of putting a Twitter widget on our Myspace too so you won't even have to go to the website. But be careful, once you start twittering, you'll be addicted!
Well, I think that's about all the updates I've got for you right now. We would very much appreciate your prayers! This has been a hard yet productive year for us with a lot of decisions that have been and still need to be made. In our concerts, we often play Chris Tomlin's song "Forever" and there is a line in there that says, "By the grace of God we will carry on". That is our motto! May the grace of God be with you!
Chris

Hello Friends!
Wow, it's been a ridiculously long time since we've posted a blog on here! My apologies! I'm not sure where the time went, but I won't even try to make excuses!
So, we've been doing this whole Truth Bomb thing for three and a half years now! I'm not sure if that seems like a long time or not much time at all. Either way, I am grateful to God for the opportunities He has brought our way!
What a crazy ride we've had! This year seems to have had more than its fair share of ups and downs, but God has been faithful to get us through.
A couple months ago, after many prayers and much consideration, we made the difficult decision to part ways with our drummer, Sam Umphlett. It was especially tough because Sam has become like part of the family--not to mention he's a great drummer! Sam is going to college and has a full-time job as well as a commitment to his church to play drums, which kept him quite busy. We fully support him in all of these endeavors, but his schedule just wasn't leaving him with enough time for Truth Bomb. We are so thankful for the year that we had the privilege to play with Sam and we are even more thankful for the great friend we have gained during that time! We will miss playing with him!
One of the other decisions that had to be made this year was: where should we record our new material? After months of deliberation we finally felt it would be best for Andrew to start his own studio. He seems to have quite a knack for engineering as well as producing and he has been interested in recording for some time now. So we (meaning mostly Andrew) have been hard at work recording a new song called "Pray For You". I really love this song and I can't wait for you guys to hear it! "Pray For You" is pretty much about the hard side of love. As Christians, we like to think that we never get seriously messed up anymore, but that just isn't true. Look at King David. He commit adultery and then murder, and he continued on for more than a year after this acting like he hadn't done anything wrong! Imagine what the people closest to him thought! They probably figured he was a lost cause. I would have. He would have been one of the most difficult people to love during that time. But God never gives up on His people. He is never surprised by our shortcomings. He knows us inside and out, after all. There's a passage in Philippians that has become one of my favorites over the past year and it says this: "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;" Phil. 1:3-6 (italics are mine). If God doesn't give up on us then we can't give up on each other. "Love hopes all things" 1 Cor. 13:7. That's what "Pray For You" is about. Believing that God will complete what He has started, even if it doesn't look too good at the time. When we love our brothers and sisters by sticking it out with them and praying for them we are giving them tangible evidence of God's continuing love for them.
I hope "Pray for You" encourages you when you hear it on Tuesday! We'd love to know what you think of it.
Blessings to you,
Christin

Hi Friends!
I hope you are doing well! It's been quite some time since I've blogged--I feel out of practice!
I can't believe it's already late June! It seems the first half of the year went by so fast! Something tells me the second half won't be any slower. Lord willing, we hope to start recording a full length album in the Fall, which we are really excited about! We can't wait for you guys to hear the new songs!
Tonight we'll be playing a concert at Carollwood Baptist Church in Tampa and I'm looking forward to it! I've heard that it's going to be a pretty cool event! If you're in the area, come on by. We'd love to see you!
That's about it for now. As always, we would very much appreciate your prayers on our behalf!
Until next time, Christin
