The Veronicas need to get their facts straight!
The Veronicas have slated us on their twitter page by saying
Lisa_Veronica: Tryin 2 look like us, pose like us, even have a neon pink band sign LOL! Get some originality!!!! http://bit.ly/NCgDIabout 14 hours ago from twitterfeed
So we thought we would give them a bit of background information about us, that they clearly haven’t checked up on.
We are sisters from Wales in the UK who have always been girly & like the colour pink (hence our pink neon logo)
We were formerly known as KuTe at the age of 14 & 15 , our music was Pop/Rock & we supported Girls aloud on their first Tour “What Will the neighbours say” which involved 25 dates around the UK & Ireland.
But as we started to mature ,make more music & experiment with our style .We found our music was changing along with our “KuTe” youthful innocent image!
We loved artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Michael Jackson ,Mel & Kim & Robyn! & they were an influence on us !As everyone has influences!
We naturally moved away from the pop rock & slipped into something sexier... Electro J
It was the right move for us & Universal Island Records loved what we were doing, so we sealed a deal.
Somehow KuTe just didn’t fit our Music or our look that we described as vampiress! With our dark hair & Dark Smokey eye makeup, we had to get our thinking caps on....
We pieced together our music (Electro) & our look (Vamp) & came up with the name
ELECTROVAMP! It does what it says on the tin!
Our image & music has stayed on this path for a number of years now & we are happy that electro is finally getting a look in, with new artists such as Lady Gaga opening doors for electro artists such as ourselves.
We can safely say that we have NEVER been influenced by The Veronicas, but were aware of them, just like we are aware of any sister bands ie. Aly & AJ.
As it is quite rare to have sister duos, it is obvious that we are all going to get compared at some point.
But we never saw them as an issue because they’re style is grungy pop rock- & ours is totally different.
Most recently though we had noticed on their new album cover that they’ve had a ReVamp (excuse the pun). They both have long dark hair with fringes & their logo is very similar to our 80’s inspired neon pink logo that we had chosen after sifting through our mam’s vinyl’s & seeing a sleeve of ELO .
Here is a picture of their old grungy logo & then after is a picture of their new logo that they are claiming we have copied pfft!
The Veronicas New ReVamp! with new logo
For them to try & make out that we have copied them is unfair & maybe if they had done a bit of research before shooting they’re mouths off then they would realise that in actual fact it is the other way around , someone from their team- styling & artwork design must be taking some ideas from us!
Now it is not against the law to copy someone’s style & we have simply found it quite flattering up until they tried to make out we are copying them & that we have no originality!
Girls you are 24 years of age & should know better not to start tweet bitching about us without getting your facts straight & maybe you should have more input into your career than being puppets & letting everything be done for you! I.e. YOUR LOGO!
We are sorry it has come to this & that we have had to explain ourselves, as we do respect what the Veronicas are doing for themselves, they are doing really well.
We wish them all the best, with continued success & hope that this cattiness will end, We are two separate bands, two different styles of music for two different audiences (apart from the commercial crossover ofcourse) !
