Evening manaics!! Prey is getting hotter and hotter thats for sure....were getting offers from all over the world right now!!! We will keep you updated....kill some time with this stunning review!! " Genre: Melodic MetalThe from Falun coming metal band Prey has come this year with his second album to let the world hear what they can do. The band promises a lot with melodic solos, tight riffs and strong choruses. There is no more time to read what the band claims, but it is time to discover on my own what the album has to offer.
The album of the band starts strongly with the title song Knights Of The Revolution. A solid piece of guitar work opens the song and quickly after that the clean voice of the singer comes in. It is not a real metal voice, but it fits well to the song. The chorus sounds a bit light and happy, but luckily it is kept in balance by the spicier guitar work that plays a central role in the music of Prey.
In the following song Deliver The Goods the voice of the singer comes over more solid, where also can be found more emotion. The guitar work again is very secure in the riffs as well as in the lead play, like the solo among other things. The solos fit really well in the songs and don’t form an over the top build playground for the guitarist.
Prey goes every time a step further with power and melody with the songs. The third song Playing With Fire sounds a bit more powerful than the last two songs. But of course no album may become predictable, so the band takes a huge step back with Bloodred Sky to a calmer song that lies more the form of Knight Of The Revolution follows. With Get Out the band puts forth the same line.
It is a calm song which is tight accompanied by the drums, bass and guitar where the vocals come out very well. Despite being a calm song it still holds a rawer sound in the voice that only brings out the best in the emotion. Into Fire is a more energetic song, but it still brings over a calm atmosphere. In Memoriam breaks the line. The intro is strong and fast and the speed doesn’t get lost, although the voice breaks the song and makes it very accessible.
In the choruses the band uses multiple vocals, which give the songs an accessible atmosphere and the idea to sing along is being increased by this, because it is clear when these parts come and it easy to be a part of it. This is ideal to do live with the audience. It just keeps on going, Addicted, Run and Personal Fantasy, the last three songs, follows the same line.
Prey clearly has his own sound and knows exactly what he wants; solid songs with a powerful clean voice which breaks the whole on a good way and doesn’t give a standard metal feel to the songs. With the melodic music that offers more than just head banging, Prey clearly gives an own twist to the metal. Despite that elements of the band can be found in many German power metal bands, Prey stays an on its own standing melodic heavy metal band from Sweden! 8,5/10"

Hi there alcoholics! We recieved this excellent review from our record label today! Please read end enjoy...then buy the album!! Because if you buy our album we will get a huge amount of money from our record label...wich means that we will be able to get on tour and get totally wasted together with YOU!! This webzine is like a fine wine...it only gets better, visit them at: http://www.metal-discovery.com " Prey are yet another heavy rock band from Sweden, the members being Thomas Nystroem who handles both vocals and lead guitar duties, Peter Baecke on bass and backing vocals, Fredrick Plahn on keys and backing vocals and drummer Robban Back who also provides backing vocals. 'Knights of the Revolution' is Prey's second release and is the follow up to 2005's well received 'The Hunter'. The album opens with the title track and kicks matters off in spectacular fashion. The cut is very heavy but also awash with melody with the keyboards of Plahn supplementing the excellent guitar work of Nystroem and giving the track a really 'full' sound. The rythm section provide solid backing throughout. The vocals of Nystroem are the icing on the cake as they are strong and powerful and he can also carry a tune comfortably. Favourable comparisons can be drawn with Europe who, while not massively heavy on studio releases, are well known for their thumpingingly loud live shows. Next up is 'Deliver the Goods' and it carries on in the same vein as the opener. The track boasts a sublime keyboard riff around which the song is constructed. The cut also features a catchy chorus,a great guitar solo and a particularly good drum sound. 'Playing with Fire' follows and picks up the tempo with a fast pace that borders on speed metal while maintaining the melodic sensibilities of the first couple of tracks. The majority of the remainder of the tracks on this release are very much in the same style as the opening triumvirate of tracks. The only two cuts that could be considered to be more balladic in style are 'Get Out' and 'Addicted' although there is more than enough 'heaviness' to satisfy even the most 'ballad allergic' rock fan. To sum up, then, Prey have delivered a superb album which manages to be both heavy yet overtly melodic at the same time, with catchy, memorable songs. Each band member is at the top of their game and the production enhances what they have to offer. The drum sound is great and the keyboards both compliment the guitar work and also help, as previously stated, to give a really full sound to each track. All in all, Prey can be very proud of this album and I would recommend to any discerning rock fan. LABEL: FORMAT: GMR Music Album KNIGHTS OF THE REVOLUTION 8,5/10"
Cheers!

Current mood: adored
...Yes we do!! Read this awesome review from our new friends at www.bleed.de (Bleeding4metal) "The large revolutions are struck, I would mean. And there 4 Sweden comes and calls their album " Knights OF The Revolution". But sponge over it, because PREY really deliver with their Zweitling class work. Melodi Metal/Hardrock with a shot power, which to the 1990ern orients itself, but nevertheless sufficient self-sufficiency possesses not to go down around between the classical authors and still to it regarding a modern, officially skirt-ends itself sound garb presented. Starting from the first minute there is hearing fun purely for the bent Hardrocker. Singer Thomas Nystroem, which serves also the guitar, leads with his interesting, easily rauchigen voice, which reminds strongly of the organ of ex-TOTO-Gitarrero Steve Lukather and stands out against the general Kastraten singing, with Verve by song. " Knights OF The Revolution" is throughout in usual, whereby nevertheless is provided for sufficient alternation. The predominantly quick numbers occasionally replaced of a Halbballade (' GET Out'), fast hymns such as ' Run' , Soil compactors such as ' Into Fire' with its deftigen Riffing or Midtempo song such as ' Bloodred Sky' , which is with its VAN HALEN well-behaved Refrain the best number of the CD. The Quotenballade is only missing, which however no deficiency is. To hardly believe that the plate became of that volume in self-direction produced and gemixed, since fat production can keep up with publications larger volume loosely. Recommendation for all fans of the melodischen Metals, which with volume like WHITESNAKE the post office Blues phase, VAN HALEN, a shot of FOREIGNER and a few drop TOTO, which whole enriched with a dose power Metal, something can begin." 9/10! Thanks alot for that one guys!! We appriciate it so much!! Raise your glasses it is time again....CHEERS! Best regards /PREY

Hello Metalbastards!! It..s getting pretty obvious that there is a bunch of you out there that has understood what Prey is all bout!! We knew we were not alon loving this kind of music! So please read this new refreshing review from the wonderful country of Greece!! We can also tel you that a couple of our friends in Germany is planning for a big release party...the album is about to be released in Germany on july 17th. But we will come back to you with more information about that party...we promise! NOW...read the review taken from www.metal-temple.com " This is one of those cases where the band’s name, the album’s title and artwork are totally misleading about the music genre dealt here. Ok, I know that you can judge a book by its cover but it is not that easy! So, getting this digital promo I double clicked on the promo sheet -that just contained the artwork and the album’s tracklist- (hey label guys, this is not a proper promo sheet) and immediately got the impression that this is another Power Metal release. Of course the lack of in-depth information did not raise any flags regarding the PREY’s ancestry that is Swedish. During the last five years I have become very confident about albums for this part of Europe since we are getting excellent music from there. But I think it is about time for me to stop blabbering and get on the music itself. So, this is the band’s second release that comes four years after their debut "The Hunter." This might be a long period of time but on the other hand this may mean that the band has been working hard on the studio to produce something interesting with -why not- a unique character. It is not always good to rush a release especially if the debut was a good one because you may fall in the trap of just repeating yourself. Nevertheless, it’s time to push the play button and welcome PREY with "Knights Of The Revolution." The song enters with a powerful sound with fat guitars, EUROPE-esque backing keyboards and the addictive Hard Rock groove the Swedish bands know how to produce! The vocals made look over the lineup since I got the striking impression that D.C. Cooper from SILENT FORCE (also an ex-ROYAL HUNT singer) is handling the microphone here. Indeed, the vocals are the icing on the cake here and actually give the music a hearty Hard Rock backbone that simply cannot fail. "Deliver The Goods" continues in the same vein with more melody and an excellent ’arena’ chorus that entices you to sing along or at least hum. The sound production is just perfect giving a massive sound on the rhythm section and some room for the bass guitar to breathe. PREY can also sound heavier and for this they deliver "Playing With Fire" that gave shivers down my spine since the PRETTY MAIDS memories from the "Future World" days surfaced up giving additional kudos to the Swedish act. The music continues in the same high level with the AOR sounding "Bloodred Sky" and the mid tempo "Get Out" while introducing some underlying JUDAS PRIEST influences in the solid guitar groove with "Into Fire." Here, the keyboard melodies are at least addictive giving introducing some modern finishing touches while adding DOKKEN and WINGER to the influences list. Now, I am sure that there is a music magic well in Sweden where bands go, get inspired and bless their albums. Seriously now, who cannot but agree that lately this country has been delivering excellent albums without stopping giving (I have said this before) energy injections to the Metal scene’s veins. PREY belongs to this category and "Knights Of The Revolution" is something more than a fuel injection. Their fine blend of arena Hard Rock through the passion filled AOR looking glass will definitely bring a cool breeze in your summer nights. Let’s all become addicted to the game... | |
"
What can we say about that...WE NEED A TOUR!! We need to see you guys out there...
Cheers to you all!! Alcoholics!!!
