On Thursday 19the November 2009 news began to circulate that hacked documents and communications from the University of East Anglia’s Hadley Climate Research Unit (aka CRU) had been published to the internet.

The information revealed how top scientists conspired to falsify data in the face of declining global temperatures in order to prop up the premise that man-made factors are driving climate change.

The documents and emails illustrate how prominent climatologists, affiliated with the UN's International Panel on Climate Change, embarked on a venomous and coordinated campaign to ostracize climate skeptics and use their influence to keep dissenting reports from appearing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as using cronyism to avoid compliance with Freedom of Information Act requests.

Author Steve Milloy hits on another smoking gun to emerge from the "ClimateGate" emails scandal today, referring to it as a "Perry Mason moment".

Milloy, publisher of the website Junkscience.com, reveals that in 2007 he privately surveyed some of the scientists involved in the scandal with interesting results in light of their leaked communications.

Kevin Trenberth, one of the lead authors of the UN's IPCC report on climate change was one of those who responded to the survey, Milloy notes:

A prominent German scientist who was attacked in the leaked CRU emails by UN affiliated climate scientists has stated that the group should be barred from taking part in the peer-review process and excluded from the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Professor Hans von Storch, who is referred to in very unflattering terms several times in the leaked emails, points out that the CRU scientists acted as "gatekeepers".

"Mike Mann [climate scientist at Penn State University] was successful to exclude me from a review-type meeting on historical reconstructions in Wengen," von Storch comments on his blog.

A BBC Weather presenter who was discussed by scientists in the "climategate" emails says he was forwarded the material more than five weeks before it was made public on the internet.

Paul Hudsen, a weather presenter and climate correspondent for the BBC, notes on his blog "I was forwarded the chain of e-mails on the 12th October,".

Hudsen says he saw the exact emails that were either hacked or leaked from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University placed on the internet last week.

"The e-mails released on the internet as a result of CRU being hacked into are identical to the ones I was forwarded and read at the time and so, as far as l can see, they are authentic." Hudsen notes.

One of the most striking revelations to immediately emerge from the "climategate" scandal has been references to efforts by scientists espousing the human-caused warming theory to exclude contrary viewpoints from important scientific publications.

Among the thousands of emails and documents hacked or leaked from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University last week are several references to an agenda to shut down scientific debate on global warming by stifling counter-evidence from other scientists.

Dating back to 1996, the emails show that both U.S. and U.K. based scientists referred to any research offering alternate viewpoints as "disinformation", "misinformation" or "crap" that needs to be kept out of the public domain.

The emails include deliberations amongst the scientists regarding efforts to make sure that reports from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change include their own research and exclude that of dissenting scientists.

In one of the emails, Phil Jones, the director of the East Anglia climate center, suggested to climate scientist Michael Mann of Penn State University We "will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!"

The Federal Reserve attack dogs are out in full force today following Congressman Ron Paul's decisive victory in the battle to bring transparency to the privately owned central bank.

The House Financial Services Committee passed the amendment to increase Federal Reserve transparency in an overwhelming and bipartisan vote of 43 to 26.

The amendment, sponsored by Ron Paul and Democratic Representative Alan Grayson, mandates a genuine and full probing audit of the Fed.

The Committee rejected the parallel amendment introduced by Congressman Mel Watt (D-NC) which would have severely limited the audit, "gutting" Ron Paul's H.R. 1207 bill as the Congressman put it, and paving the way for further Fed secrecy.

In what is fast becoming a regular feature on MSNBC programming, Hardball anchor Chris Matthews once again injected the issue of race into a segment last night with no context whatsoever.

Reporting on a large turnout at a Sarah Palin book signing event in Michigan, Matthews' guests Norah O'Donnell and Joan Walsh of Salon took umbrage that the crowd was overwhelmingly "white".

"This is a largely white -- almost no minorities in this crowd," O'Donnell, who was at the signing, dutifully stated.

"Well, they look like a white crowd to me," Matthews responded, adding, "I think there is a tribal aspect to this thing, in other words, white vs. other people.

Walsh then added "I think you`ve got that same kind of paranoid tea party, maybe even birther crowd that talks about the Constitution, without really understanding what they are talking about"

The Anti-Defamation League has published a fresh report directly targeting Alex Jones as an "extremist" and "The King of conspiracy", lumping in the information contained on this website with the actions of racists and white supremacists.

There is, as usual, one major problem with the ADL's report - it is devoid of any empirical fact and based entirely on the group's desire to create the impression that huge swathes of politically disgruntled Americans are violent conspiratorial-minded bigots that they must expose and counter.

"With conspiracy talk-show host Alex Jones leading the way, one of the most disturbing trends in 2009 has been the resurrection and proliferation of some of the same anti-government conspiracy theories that so riled up domestic extremists in the 1990s." the ADL writes.

The organisation defines three major issues as "conspiracy theories" that exist only in the mind of paranoid delusional extremists.
