Current mood:  drained
Time flies, don't it?

I am always late in getting any sort of end of year list together.

I do have a DVD post up, first time Ihave ever done one of those. You cans see that one here: http://draven99.blogspot.com/2009/01/2008-year-in-dvds.html

I have a music round up in progress, a few artists you will find there are Gojira, Warrel Dane, Opeth, Testament, and Meshuggah, along with a whole bunch more.

I hope to start my movies lists for next week, some films you can plan on seeing there include In Bruges, Slumdog Millionaire, Dark Knight, and Wall-E.

Keep tuned to The Musings for more!

My luck with computers is bad, as evidenced by the death of current tower, and the increasingly unreliable laptop.

My tower would not even power on, just clicks. Now, when I bought it, I also upgraded the video card and power supply. I figured it was the pwr supply, so I reinstalled the original supply, and removed the upgraded video card (it wouldn’t work with the lower output original).

Well, that wasn’t it. Something else is at work here....

Time to start thinking of a new PC. I’m thinking a new laptop, since that is what I use the most. Just need to find one, get a couple of HD enclosures for my old drives, and I’m all set.

We’ll have to see how long that takes........

Well, this year has generated some incredible crap in the likes of Epic Movie and Norbit, but it has a few surprises as well.

Be sure to check out Bridge to Terabithia, the best film of the year, that I have seen (17 so far). It is marketed like Narnia 2, but is nothing like that. It is a well written, well acted, tear inducing drama with a touch of fantast. This really surprised me.

The other big surprise of the young year is The Abandoned, this one flew in under my radar, I had know idea what it was. It turned out to be a supremely creepy haunted house story with great style and not a single teenage actor to be seen. This is definitely a keeper.

As always, be sure to check out http://draven99.blogspot.com for the latest movie and music reviews.

I thought I was more prepared than I was. This film broke me down.

It was absolutely amazing, but also one that is hard to be objective about. Not once did I feel manipulated. Paul Greengrass has convinced me that this is what happened, or at least as near as we are likely to ever know.

I highly recommend it, so long as you are prepared.....

Keep an eye on my blog for more complete comments.

Saw 2 more today, bringing the year total to 48.

This afternoon was The Sentinel. It was pretty good, although it wasn't as much as I had hoped it would be.

Tonight: The Wild. Better than its predecessor, Madagascar, but not great. The animation was rendered very nicely, probably the best so far this year.

After a 12 day layover, I have ventured out to the darkened rooms once again.

Last night I saw Scary Movie 4, it was surprisingly good. Not as hysterical as I had hoped, but a definite upgrade to the previous sequels.

Tonight I saw Silent Hill, and seriously WTF?? There was some absolutely atrocious dialogue, but the look and progression was fantastic, even if I couldn't explain exactly what happened.
