OK--Been a little while between blogs. sorry about that. been crazy busy trying to finish new disc "Gimme What You Got" on Authentic Records. It's finally done and due to be released Sat, Sept 12 at Record Release show at Johnny Brenda's in Philly. Gonna be awesome!! We're all really pleased with this disc and hope you all dig it.
We had a great summer of shows. The Heron this year was mega: biggest crowds we've ever performed to. The audiences were amazing. We really appreciated the support. There's a Youtube vid of us in the Dance Tent that really gives me goosebumps, all the hands waving, etc..quite a blast.
Just played Philly Folk Fest for the first time last weekend. Pretty amazing. I know people were initially surprised we were booked and had questions as to whether it would go over, but it really turned out fantastic. It was ferociously hot, so it was good to be under dance tent. People started out sitting and then got right into the dancing ala Heron tent. I think we'll just do every gig for now on in big tents.
Anyway, hope you had a great summer and hope you dig the new tunes/cd. If you can make Johnny Brenda's, that would be excellent as we really want to sell the joint out. Hey, it's mere feet from Shackamaxon! How can you go wrong?
Peace and Love, Slo-Mo

well, another heron has passed and another great time out in sherman, ny. from all in slo-mo, big thanks to all the heron audiences for making it such an excellent fest. we had two fun sets and a lot of cool chilling by the fire. my daughter ruby made it to the fest for the first time this year. wasn't sure how a 2-year-old would fare, but she seemed to love it. she'll be back. we'll be back.
hope you all had a great time as well. peace, slo-mo

hey folks---just wanted to thank everyone for coming out to chaplin's on sat 12/8. there was a pretty packed, sit-down crowd when we started our set, and then it morphed into a front-of-stage dancing, screaming and yelling crowd, which, you know, is our favorite kind of show. people were really up for the music and we really had a great time playing that night.
we never know how it's going to go when we troop out to spring city, pa, but it's always been a good time and this one was the best so far. so----thanks again to all of you who were grooving that evening---you put us in the mood to groove right along with ya.
seeya new years eve at world cafe live. gonna rock it. peace, slo-mo

howdy---once again, we drove up to ithaca for grassroots, played our set, and then drove right back to philly. gotta stop doing that. next year, we're gonna camp out whether we're playing the next day or not. seemed like a great scene there and the weather was perfect.
wow, did we have a fantastic audience in the cabaret hall this year. they were absolutely nutty at points and that makes any drive worthwhile. we love that festival and really appreciate that kind of a crowd. makes us feel great!!!!!
sort of ends our busy summer gigging: heron, xpn, grassroots, etc...we don't tour so much so we really count on those gigs being fun, and this year, they were all great.
if you were at grassroots, thank you!! we'll be up in ithaca this winter to rock chapter house (feb 9, i believe)! seeya then, pecae, slo-mo

what up folks? got home from the heron on sunday night, tired, smelly, but very happy with slo-mo's sets out in sherman, ny.
this was our fifth heron and it's been such a cool metamorphosis over those summers. the first time we played, the band was really just in its infancy. wrecka was with us, as was our first vocalist Nancy Falkow, but we didn't even have a current disc out.
Over the course of the last 5 years, Sue and Steph came aboard and wrecka and I have co-written a bunch of new material and released 2 discs. the band, of course, has gotten better and better. much to our pleasure, the crowds at the heron have gotten bigger, louder and more appreciative. we really love the chance to come every summer and play for the heron peeps.
Friday night's set was probably an all-timer for us. a HUGE crowd singing 'Buzz' will probably keep our spirits afloat until next year. it was really exciting. sue and steph got to sing some tunes at the songwriter circle on sat morning and the dance tent gig was a total blast. the rest of the time, we sat around the fire, watched the other bands, used the portapotties, etc...hey, life is good.
we'll be making another journey to the jamestown region in feb '08 (more details to come) and maybe hitting ithaca as well. just wanted to thank all the great folks we met at heron this year. it was the bomb and we all hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. till next year.....peace & love from all in the Slo-Mo crew.

Just wanted to thank all the folks who came out to both the Free At Noon show and the nighttime gig at World Cafe Live. We had a blast and hope you did as well. That was a long day for the crew in the band, but the audiences made it worthwhile. Hoping you're enjoying the new disc.
Also a big thanks to everyone at WXPN for their support of Smokey Mountain and local music in Philadelphia. We appreciate it!! Peace, Slo-Mo

howdy folks---wanted to let you know we've finished our new disc. Titled "Smokey Mountain", it should be out around May 1, 2007. Our record release show is scheduled for May 18 at World Cafe Live.
Compared to Buzz, which took a long time to finish (4 years? more?), we rocked this one out in 5 days of cutting and 5 days of mixing with excellent help from Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey at Miner Street Studios. It helped that we weren't using loops and the band was rehearsed and sounding great. Easier to do great recordings when the music sounds cool going down.
This disc features the talents and great playing of everyone in the band: Wrecka, Susan Rosetti, Steph Hayes, Lauren Hart, Mark Schreiber, Hoagy Wing, Steve Demarest and, of course, yours truly, Slo-Mo. Some great contributions from special guests, including former Slo-Mo vocalist Nancy Falkow.
We're pretty proud of it and can't wait till it comes out. We think you'll dig it!!! We'll put some new cuts on myspace pretty soon. Rock on, Slo-Mo
