Well i'm fuckin happy it's a three day weekend, but still reeling by the fact we never played at the Grand Union last night which is a shame as Oh! Bar was (kinda) fun especially playing new songs 'Radar Hill' and 'She's Rotten' which seemed to go down well, 'Radar Hill' needs a little bit more practice methinks... We'll be recording them in June for the world to listen to...
West Ham just lost to Man United, which is annoying... 4-1, bit much...
So i'm gonna spend my weekend writing songs, looking after our ace kitten Billy and applying for new jobs - I FLIPPIN HATE BEING SKINT ALL OF THE TIME, i can't do ANYTHING. ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
This blog has no real reason, it's just a hungover Egg just musing on anything that pops into my head...
Really looking forward to my (and Will's) birthday gig at Bar Monsta on the 23rd, it should be fucking awesome, hopefully going to have the boys from Essex coming up for it too, which is always a laugh.
mmmmmmm, beans on toast time. yes!

Well, it's been fucking ages since i did a blog so i thought, well, why the cunt not eh?
So a lot's happened since the last blog, lots of gigs, a new recording of 'Invaders' and 'Feeding on the Birdseed' which we're all well proud of and a showcase gig at the Islington Academy at the start of March... it's all happening! We've got a lot of gigs sorted for the summer now with new songs too which we are aiming on recording in late June so that should be good.
Personally, i've stopped looking like James Blunt (the beggar asking for my autograph was the last straw), Dave's lost the beard and hat, Will's also lost his beard (shockin! takes me ages doing the band picture then he gets rid!) and Phil, well, he's just Phil - meeting the stars (REM, John Paul Jones, Radiohead et al) and pulling the ladeez.
We're rockin three new songs at the moment called She's Rotten, Radar Hill and Alone which are sounding great and we can't wait to get them onstage for all you lucky people.
Well, i better carry on doing boring shit on the internet (myspace is being a CUNT at the moment) and leave y'all in peace.

Yes ok, it's been a while (nearly two months) but it's time I vent my spleen once more on the things that really get on MY TITS!
Today, it's a short man.
A short 'funny' man.
A short 'funny' man with glasses.
Guessed who it is?

Ronnie Fucking Corbett.
Now, I'm sure he's a very lovely man if ever I met him but the fact that really bothers me about him is that all he ever jokes about is the fact that he's small.
YES WE KNOW YOUR FUCKING SMALL, WE'RE NOT BLIND MATE!
It's a simple kind of hatred and one of which doesn't apply to small people in general.
Anyway, rant over.
----------
We're rocking Metro on Friday 1st June so BE THERE OR BE CHER!

We're recording in a few months too, check myspace and nineashes.com for more info!
Signing out!

So practice yesterday was FUCKING BRILLIANT.
We gotta wicked new tune about a geezer i know who acted like a complete tosser a few months back so i wrote a song about how much of a complete tosser he was - the chorus is as follows:
You're living a life that no-one respects
An attitude you think that no-one detects
I hate the way you take your friends for granted
Why don't you fade away?
Now, if you know this guy, you'll know what i mean. His initials are TB.
So i took it to the band and it sounds FUCKING ACE! It's like the moody teenage brother of 'Rainbow' so we've got another tune you people can dance to! wooo!
------------
Went to this party in Crouch End on Saturday, needless to say i had an awesome time. Wine + Cider + Beer = a very happy eggy. One thing tho....
WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON PUTTING SHIT HOUSE MUSIC ON AT PARTIES???
Firstly, I don't want to take away the hospitality of the hostess' because i did have a really really cool time (a big thanks to MEL!!) but... there is good dance music out there so why oh why would people want to listen to something that sounds the same for HOURS ON END. IT'S SHIT. Now, my good friend Ian would have something to say about this i'm sure but i'll tell you what happened at this party...
So i'm pissed, boppin' around talking shit to strangers, abusing their St Patricks Day head dresses (dont ask, that's another story) and I walked into the lounge, some rocking dancing music was on, there was fun n games, dancing, singing. It was great. For some reason, we all went into the kitchen. BIG MISTAKE. We chill for a while refilling the drinks, taking pictures of us shaking our heads manically and generally talking shite - then realise that someone had put the repetitive tones of shit House on the stereo. It grates. It grates so bad. I inspect the lounge. EVERYONE IS SITTING DOWN! NO ONE IS BOPPING! Whadafuck? I sort it and put the Rapture's new album on the system, walk out, walk back in after a piss and people are dancing.
THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!
Read and learn. Read and learn.

So things are fucking grand at the moment, oh yes.
Firstly - the obvious. The band. Last week's gig at the Purple Turtle was one the the best gigs i've had the pleasure of playing. The other bands (notably Rolling Dog and Dear Superstar) were fucking legends, really nice chaps and really good bands. We definitely played the best we've ever played, twas fun, i'm glad we didn't do an encore - leave the fans wanting more! that's the trick innit!? Anyway, we're not ready for encores. Bring on Glastonbury Pyramid Stage, then we'll do an encore.
Talking of Glasto, we got confirmation that we're not playing in the glastonbury competition. They must have bad taste. Well, probably not (definitely not, Glasto's ACE) but i suppose we've just gotta up our game on the recordings front. Will's apparrently entered us into the Bestival comp so you never know...
So cos of last week, i'm really looking forward to The Comedy in two weeks time, we might even play a brand new song! oooooooooo! Yeah, should be fun.
Next Monday sees the second show from the newly reformed Chorus, a fucking great band. Shame about the drummer. haha. Check them out THEY'RE WICKED!
As you might know, our demo is available at all our gigs, if not email me at 9ashes@gmail.com or contact me here for one.
And finally. I get paid tomorrow. WOOHOO!
Signing off.

Last week we rocked Whitechapel to it's very foundations, and no, it wasn't us that made the building collapse (that would be one hell of a legacy for a small gig). Overall, it was fucking brilliant, thanks to all who came along – we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did! Twas a great welcoming gig for Phil indeed.
But, onwards and upwards as they say and upwards means this Thursday. Yep, it's Millertime once more as we rock London Bridge for the first time this year. It's definitely not a big gig (that's March) but it should be fun so if you have the time, give it a whirl!
If not, I'm doing some solo acoustic bits and bobs starting at monkey chews tonight in Chalk Farm and it's free to enter so whatcha got to lose? Bugger all that's what!
I'm fucking off now.
Bo.

I love my new computer, it's fast, cool looking and has all the shit needed for me.
THEN i tried to get online and it took me all fookin day on saturday, i got nothing done except go up and down Green Lanes to Maplins, which took fuckin ages too because there was an accident (god, how selfish are some people!? haha). I think i'm just angry because i got completely the wrong thing when i went to Maplins the first time and had to go back like a fool. a FOOL!
But i went out to Greenwich ("saaff of the river mate? oooooo") with Zelia + brothers + girlfriends on saturday to Kirsty's gaff, and a very nice time we had too. A good meal of chicken rice and oriental style salad was rockin cos i was fuckin starving after the day of bus riding.
I tell you one thing - on the way i picked up a disgarded paper - The Daily Mail. Now i know it's really really really shit but some of the shit in there i couldn't believe. I mean, an article with the title starting 'With all these films of the dark continent being released, we tell you what Africa's really like'
Dark continent? Is it me or is that inherrently racist? I dunno, it made me laugh just how much they can get away with when, no doubt, they took the moral high ground with Shilpa Shetty's bullying on Big Bro.
......
But i digress... So the party was going well except the music was well quite. we tried to dance but it just wasn't loud enough. that led to spankings (don't ask, but i tell you summat, i learnt some lessons that night! haha), which died down after it all got a bit wierd and just as that died, someone had a brain wave - put music on the tv! and what went on???
MICHAEL JACKSON. That's what.
And it was genius, dancing, merryment, wine all over the floor (that i eventually slept on), shapes and the crazy spanking lady (Beth, i think) was litterally throwing herself all over the shop on the sofa. flying through the air like the crazy actress lady she is! Legend (we'll forget the condensed milk, it was a good night).
It was a wicked night, thanks Kirsty!
Why, tho, can you not get beer in Greenwich past, like, 9pm, or something!? It's STUPID!!!!
So yeah, slept on the floor. Felt truly shit. Went home. Ate pizza. Dave was ill = no practice. Spent the rest of the day geeking it up on my computer....and so the cycle continues................

"It's like they've never been away" pretty much sums up last night at the Pleasure Unit. And no, it wasn't someone talking about Barton catching lice, or, something... The Chorus are back and fuck me they were ace.
All the classic songs were there, and some classic faces including a Smith family in it's entirety.
Let me break it down to y'all
Barton: Sporting a new beard it was great to see him rockin the stage as he should Phil: Always steady, always safe. The ladies man at the back Ben: Far and away the best i've heard him. Sounds as if he's playing with distortion a little more and i LIKE it! Sam: The rock at the front, carressing the keys generously and slapping them agressively when needed Smithy: The new boy. My boy! Backing vox were ace as were some of the bass parts really gave things a new edge. Love you smith!
The Chorus: Legends. A band i'd love to be in!
Keep it going lads!
