Today I made an amazing discovery. While reading One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish (Dr. Suess) to my 5 year old cousin I was struck by a strange sense of deja vu. Although I've read the famous Dr. Suess book before, I felt as if I had heard these rhymes from some other place, in some other context. And then it hit me. It seemed to me that a page in this children's book had managed to infiltrate the hip hop scene.
Here are the words straight out of the Dr. Suess book:

Bump!
Bump!
Bump!
Did you ever ride a Wump?
We have a Wump
with just one hump.
But
we know a man
called Mr. Gump.
Mr. Gump has a seven hump Wump.
so...
if you like to go Bump! Bump!
just jump on the hump of a Wump of Gump

Does that seems oddly familiar to the Black Eyed Peas song My Humps?

What you gon' do with all that junk?
All that junk inside your trunk?
I'ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps

The question then becomes, who rhymes the sound 'ump' better? The Black Eyes Peas or the king of rhymes himself - Dr. Suess. My Vote is Dr. Suess. What do you think?

Ok so here's the deal. Lately, we here at THLK have been wanting to expand our fan base. But not by recording new songs, nor by playing more shows, nor by advertising. But rather, by requesting the friendship of select individuals who's musical taste we respect. Then we thought, well in addition to discriminating based on musical persuasion, why not also discriminate based on looks.
The logic is as follows: a lot of fans is cool, but a lot of good looking fans is really cool.
So that's exactly what we've been doing; requesting the friendship of really good looking people with similar musical tastes. We are also asking that you, the reader, refer five of your good looking friends to our myspace.
Thanks and stay beautiful (or find some other music to listen to),

Current mood:  confused
There is an ongoing philosophical debate regarding the reality and existence of free will. The concept of free will seems to demand that volition has no preceding cause. To suggest a cause to volition, would be to define volition as an effect rather than a source of 'free' will. While the entire Western judicial system relies on the concept of free will to render human beings responsible for their own actions, free will poses difficult - if not impossible barriers, to many scientific and philosophical minds.
One of the most profound arguments for the existence of free will is the apparent experiential reality of a free will decision.
In response, the denier will suggest that the experience of free will is but a cognitive illusion.
To this opinion I offer the following words:

Those who claim that free will is an illusion...
Have never in their life made a free will decision...
Those who say that we are nothing but a sum total of our desires, rooted in a cacophony of myriad causes from our nature and our nurture...
Have never risen above their baser selves...
One can deny only that which has not been experienced.

By joining amiestreet (http://www.amiestreet.com) you'll be able to buy some really cool music, some of which you can't find anywhere else (including the tricky heart love kids). But if you follow these instructions, you can get songs for free!

1) Sign up to amiestreet
2) In the section called 'today' invite friends to join also*
3) Once they join you get free money to spend on the site and these things called RECs**

* if you don't have friends you can just sneakily invite another one of your own email addresses

Ok a few things:
First off, I played a solo acoustic show the other night at the Silver Dollar, which was nice, wholesome fun. Thanks to those who came out to see it and thanks to Rafe from Trick of Disaster for inviting me to play. Here's the songs I played:

To Go Home (Daniel Johnston cover)
The Walking Song
Wishful Thinking (Wilco cover)
Don't Know Why (a new unrecorded song)
True Love will Find You in the End (Daniel Johnston cover)
Anatomy of a Tricky Heart (a new unrecorded song)
The World Exploded into Love (Bob Schneider cover)
The Weasel and the Well (a new unrecorded song)

Also you may have noticed that we updated all the songs on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/thetrickyheartlovekids). Some songs were already up there but now they are the final mixes. We also included the song lyrics in case anyone felt like singing along, or criticizing the grammar. Finally, we made a couple of the songs down loadable so that they can be added to your portable listening devices. If you like the songs, you can buy them and others at www.amiestreet.com/thetrickyheartlovekids
Thanks and be well,

Admittedly the Tricky Heart Love Kids have been in somewhat of a recording rut. We're still writing and playing, but when it comes to recording... well it doesn't usually come to recording....
We have some grand recording ideas, but they can't be realized without a full band. We've be wishing for a drummer and a bassist for some time now. You know the type of drummer who is always at your house eating your food, not wearing a shirt? That'd be nice.
Anyways, we thought we'd share some lyrics to a song that just won't get recorded. (check out our music at www.amiestreet.com/thetrickyheartlovekids or www.myspace.com/thetrickyheartlovekids)

Anatomy of a Tricky Heart

my mouth is a luxury
it’s plastic and it’s clean
sneering slander softly and
absorbing caffeine

my thoughts are a pulse in time
stretching out the fabric
of my bed like a concubine
they’re both so pragmatic

my hands feel like icicles
shining silvery blue
they shake although I am still
still thinking of you

it’s building up against my skull
and the pain is sporadic
though I’m trying to keep my cool
I’m starting to panic
and all those sweet sweet sounds
have melted away
into white noise and  static

my guitar is a vampire
that sleeps through the day
until I strum it at midnight
as my blood drains away

my heart is a captive
a prisoner of war
it’s locked inside my rib cage
it’s chained to the floor

my legs won’t stop running
and I don’t know where to
but they keep on moving
and I’m coming for you

I’m giving up and up and up
above all these street lights
the world it is some sight
starring down from the moonlight

I know it sounds contrite but
I should have warned you
that all of my fears
they always come true
