ICONICIDE were officially born in December of 1988, when drummer Vegan Mike (ex lackey for Greenpeace and co conspirator for Food Not Bombs NYC) approached Chris (Black Thumb, the Antimessiah, Creeping Death et cetera) after a reading Chris had just done at the now defunct Anarchist Switchboard, which was massacred by rampaging White Aryan Resistance skinheads Independence Day of 1989, with the proposition of forming a band, since Chris had written over 300 songs since he was 10, and had always intended to get a band together. Before Mike was to strike one skin, however, his squat burned to the ground while firemen stood by and watched. Mike lost his drum set in the fire, but went on to join NO COMMERCIAL VALUE, later became one of the Saturday Night Go-Go Boys at the Pyramid, and is now on his way to becoming a she male named Margarita. Guitarist Dirtbag was thrown off a subway platform shortly after approaching Chris about joining the band. Dirtbag later joined DEDETH. Bassist Happy Mike was forced to join ARTLESS to pay off a sizable debt to Mykel Board. Guitarist Jimmy AWOL fled to Greece. Bassist John joined PSYCHO SIN. Drummer Crusty Dave joined CHRISTRAPE. Classical flautist and bassist Jubilee suffered fits of morality and got engaged to a born againer. Bassist Jinx (ex OG OGS) went bankrupt and moved to Ohio. Guitarist Ken aka Blade, Pain and/or Omni moved in with Chris, bled him dry, was kicked out of both band and apartment, and later, along with a cast of nefarious hangers on, became Chris' own personal stalker. Guitarist Zuleika aka Lisa Kaos joined SISTERS GRIMM. Guitartist Jen aka Pagan joined CHAIN ANGEL. Guitarist Alitha aka Ariot Storm was raped, impregnated, kidnapped and married by a well known nazi satanist. Alitha now works for MARVEL COMICS. Drummer Mario aka Maj da Beast (ex ARMAGEDDON) deflowered 15 year old bassist Anna in the studio after propositioning Jen, and later made a play for bassist Easy Cheri, a half black half mohawk bisexual second generation suicidal alcoholic buddhist and alleged telepath. The couple, dubbed Mary and Cheerio, were ditched as a body, though they claim to have quit. Mario went on to join SINNER STEEL. Bassist Damiana joined CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT. Guitarist Bob Z became an internet consultant. Bob later joined THE SEX RAYS. Other potential band members headed for the hills upon hearing of the "Band Curse"...

On May 21, 1993, Chris was bludgeoned to death on a subway platform in Flatbush, but was jump started into a one month coma, and returned to the band in time to record a demo in August. With the lineup of 'Arry Vaderci (ex URGENT FURY, SIC FUCKS) on drums, Frank (ex URGENT FURY, DEMO MOE) on guitar, and Bobo Liver on bass, ICONICIDE played four shows: 12/5/94 @ SPIRAL (Ozzy Osbourne's birthday), 1/26/95 @ WFMU, 2/18/95 @ ABC NO RIO, 2/28/95 @AKA. Then 'Arry's car was stolen with his drums inside midway through a hellish audit by the IRS, and Frank's grandmother died, stranding him in Florida. Harry continues to play for SIC FUCKS. Frank returned to play two unplugged shows with ICONICIDE: 3/21/95 @ SOHO HOUSE OF POETRY, 8/28/95 @ NORTH MOORE SUNSET STAGE...

Drummer Paul, returning to his welfare motel after filling in for BETTY FORD at CBGBs, was held up at gunpoint for his beeper, wallet, hat, hunting jacket and the drums he was carrying. Bassist Alex Havok was severely beaten the night before his first rehearsal, suffering a broken nose and separated shoulder. Then guitarist Pete aka the Lingersel's mother died, and, soon after, did Chris' father. Drummer Scott (exOUTPATIENTS, DARKSIDE NYC) joined PIECE MACHINE, and later joined DISASSOCIATE. Bassist Matt and Guitarist Tony (ex SEVEN DAY PACKAGE) moved to Alaska. Bassist Cliff returned to ACTION ADVENTURE SYSTEMS. Drummer Tim joined MAGGOT, and later joined DEATH MOLD. Bassist CHRIS spent five years in the band without learning how to play. Guitarist CHRIS went back to his moving company. Guitarist CAPTAIN RONZO (EX spongetunnel), in the process of being kicked out, spooked bassist and white rapper ZERO (ex FELCHING KUMQUATS), convincing him drummer Big Mike (ex NIBLICK HENBANE, ABUSEMENT PARK, SLOW CHILDREN, RIBCAGE) was a racist thug. Guitarist Leo went back to getting drunk in the park. Big Mike went on to play bass for TRUTH IN NEEDLES. Drummer Mike (ex DO YOURSELF IN) played one show with ICONICIDE: December 15, 2005 @ CHARLESTON, before getting kicked out of the band two days before ICONICIDE's next show. Bassist Mary (ex PRINCESS DIE) joined THE MISSING. Guitarist Paul (ex VAGINAL DISCHARGE) played two more shows with ICONICIDE – January 26, 2006 @ CBGB DOWNSTAIRS LOUNGE, February 9, 2006 CBGB GALLERY- before fleeing the city to escape the Illuminati. With drummer Big Mike and guitarist Gyamo (ex OPTIMISTIC HEDGEHOG, BLOODBITER) ICONICIDE played two shows – July 23, 2006 @ TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK, August 26, 2006 @CBGB DOWNSTAIRS LOUNGE. Big Mike moved to bass, making way for drummer Saint Mark. With this lineup ICONICIDE played four shows – September 17 @ THE PUNK ROCK POOL HALL, September 24 @ TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK, September 28 @ WFMU, October 14 @ PUSSYCAT LOUNGE – before Gyamo left ICONICIDE  to form a japanese novelty band. Big Mike moved to guitar to play November 27 @ MANITOBA'S, but was kicked out of the band for the second time shortly after cancelling December 16 @ DESMOND'S TAVERN. Drummer Ken told time by beer. Guitarist Paul briefly resurfaced, then fled again. Guitarist Roger returned to HOMO CANNIBALS. Chris (the Antimessiah) did a solo performance Good Friday 2007 @ RAPTURE. With the lineup of Chris on vocals, Holy Dave (ex PUBLIC NUISANCE, Ff, ACTION SWINGERS, PIG PEN, PURPLE WIZARD, HOLY CROW) and Jason Goodrow (ex MILO Z, PORNO DRACULA, SPY VS. SPY), ICONICIDE  were rained out of TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK July 29, and had the rain date cancelled on August 12. Victor Poison Tete dropped his bass to resume as frontman for RAT AT RAT-R. Big Mike (ex Truth In Needles, now with Snuff Film Masturbaters) rejoined Iconicide as drummer, bringing with him Guitarist Charlie (ex Dead Emotion, Sickening Society, Fatal Vision), only to be kicked out of the band for the third and final time. With Holy Dave on drums, Charlie on Guitar, and Lynn Haze (ex DOROTHY DOES DRUGS) on bass, Iconicide played three shows - May 29, 2008 @ Rehab:Beta, May 31 @ Passout Record Shop, and June 21 @ Punk Island - before a catastrophic drug binge landed Lynn in a detox center, and, later, a job removing toxic waste. Bassist Zee (ex Felching Kumquats, N.O.X. Occulta), having left Captain Ronzo and the Thirsty Pirates, rejoined Iconicide in September of 2008 after a three year absence, and played 3 shows in one week: October 12, 2008 @ Tompkins Square Park, October 18 @ Mother Of Pearl, and October 19 @ Metropolis Apocalypse. With Holy Dave on drums, Zee on bass and backing vocals, and “Signed But Failed” guitarist Charlie on guitar, Iconicide began recording “Bout Fucking Time – 1988-2008: The First Twenty Years”, and celebrated their 20^th Anniversary December 6 at ABC NO RIO, but ditched Charlie aka DJ Chump Change, who still lives in his momma’s basement. On March 4, 2009, Zee and Chris were interviewed by WKRB’s New York City Throwdown. With Zee on bass, Holy Dave on drums and Goodrow on guitar, Iconicide hosted a March 28 benefit show in memoriam to Incorrigible Keith @ Passout Records. Goodrow and Holy Dave played two more shows with Iconicide - EASTER SIN DAY at GOODBYE BLUE MONDAY, and MAYDAY at OTTO’S SHRUNKEN HEAD, before Holy Dave returned to Alana Amram and the Rough Gems, and rejoined Hammerbrain. In stepped drummer Jimmy Duke (Status Quo No Show, Ultra Violence). Guitarist Roger returned to the band, immediately broke his leg, and played two shows with Iconicide – June 6 at THE JANELLE JONESTOWN MASSACRE, and June 13 at ROCK STAR BAR for the REVEREND RONDO’s Birthday Bash. Zee and Roger were unable to make PUNK ISLAND 2009 on June 21, and so Jimmy, Chris and Goodrow appeared as a 3 piece. Roger returned to play three more gigs – July 11 at TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK, July 18 at ANGEL’S LOUNGE, and July 24 at PRODUCTION LOUNGE, before having his leg re broken. Iconicide then brought in bassist Rob (Rapid Deployment Force, Antidote, Krieg Kopf), prompting Zee to pick up guitar. With this lineup, Iconicide played September 26 at CHARLESTON. Then on October 24, Chris/the Antimessiah hosted ICONICIDE PRESENTS: A WITCHES’ NIGHT OUT at OTTO’S SHRUNKEN HEAD, a showcase featuring seven female fronted punk bands. On October 30, in deference to Roger, Iconicide launched Broken Leg Tour 2009, comprised of eight shows within eight weeks: October 30 at TOMMY’S TAVERN, November 7 at DON PEDRO’S, November 8 at NJ’s THE MEAT LOCKER, November 14 at Philadelphia’s THE FISH FLAT, November 21 at EAST REV FEST 2009, and culminating in three 21^st Anniversary celebrations – December 5 at ABC NO RIO, December 12 at ROCK STAR BAR, and December 19 at OTTO’S SHRUNKEN HEAD.

As of now, Iconicide are in need of a new bassist and (FILL IN) guitarist. We have a growing number of bands who want to play shows with us, and places looking for us to book there. In addition, we have begun booking our own events, by building the entire night and presenting it to different venues, most recently at the Rock Star Bar on June 13, for the Reverend Rondo’s Birthday Bash, where we hosted High Teen Boogie, Seizure Crypt, Chesty Malone & the Slice ‘Em Ups and The Blame.  

Interested parties should be versatile to mix elements of Hardcore, Thrash, Punk and Metal, as well as the standard Dirty Funk/Hiphop number when things run to chaos. While we are open to players involved with other bands, we would prefer someone available to rehearse – and gig – every two weeks or so, and to record when possible. We are also looking to do mini tours to DC and elsewhere.
