Just posted 2 MP3s off of "Hold The Line" to our MySpace music thing. So crank those crappy computer speakers, and pretend like you can hear the bass guitar and kick drum.

Can't wait 'till August 15th!

We'd like to announce that Handsome Jon Burbank (formerly of I Can Lick Any SOB In The House) has officially joined My Life In Black And White on lead guitar. We've been working with Jon in one way or another since the band started, and are super excited to have him join the ranks! Look for more news on the upcoming record soon, and we'll see you around!

Hello everybody. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. I am currently killing time until my flight to Colorado leaves (spending New Years in Denver with friends) and I thought I'd take some time to write a blog about the year we had. I know, I know- it's a bit pretentious to think that people are dying to hear what our 2008 was like. But I'm sure some people care, and more than that I think it's good for us- we've made so many memories over the years that maybe writing them down will ensure we never forget how lucky we are to have so many. So here we go. Hopefully I don't forget too much....

January
We started the year off in Humboldt County CA playing with our best friends The Rubberneckers. This was their farewell show, and we were stoked and honored when they asked us to come down. We had an amazing time seeing all of our old Blue Lake friends and hanging our with Clay, Greg, Burton and Brendan. We played a sold out show at The Jambalaya, drank "tea" and partied at The Logger Bar from open to close. It was a great trip and we can't wait to go back.
In late January we did a short three day romp with Get Dead, and we've never been the same since. Our now good friend Brody from Horns Up Records saw us play in late '07 and insisted we play with his friends from San Francisco.....the rest is history. We made 5 best friends over the trip, and had a killer time playing fooseball with The Hollowpoints, crawling all over the Galway Arms in Seattle, sneaking bottles of Beam in our van with Sam in Tacoma, and nearly destroying the stage in Portland. Can't wait to do it again....

After taking February off to rehearse and write, in March we played what came to be our last show at The River City Saloon in Hood River. We had a killer time as always, and the Hood River crowd came out in full. After the show some things went south, and without getting into too much detail we decided to not play the club anymore. The good news is that we will definitely be back in the 'Hood in '09..
St. Patrick's Day went down as our best ever, as we played The Crystal Ballroom for the first time. What a night- hundreds of people, booze flowing like wine, and KIMRIA, the best Pogues cover band in the world. It was so much fun, and we can't wait to play with those guys again...

April saw us play a few new haunts- The Winterland in Bremerton was rad- great club and great people. It was here that we met our now friends The Enemies Of...., who rocked their set so hard that Coty had no choice but to get uber-wasted- it was awesome. We crashed with some locals who let us play with their snake and listened to death metal all night...We also played The Gemeni in Lake Oswego for the 1st time, The Deluxe in McMinnville, and an acoustic set at The Side Door. This night was crazy, with a mellow acoustic performance ending in drunken antics- Ben and Falco got tattoos, and Andrew and I saw Marching Band play- literally a marching band that plays covers while people on stilts dance around and blow fire. Pure insanity....

At the end of May we headed up to Seattle and had the pleasure of playing live on KEXP, which was something we will never forget. Our friend Lisa Wood hooked us up with the interview and performance- we will always be in her debt, she's done so much for us....Anyway we played Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma the night before, which was great as always. In the morning we headed into Seattle early, got tattooed, and then headed over to the studio. It was so HOT! I'll never forget standing the that room, half naked, everything covered in sweat, drinking warm beer and not being able to stop smiling- it was so much fun....After the in-studio we ran over to Slim's Last Chance and played with a kick-ass band called Mexican UFO- the absolutely killed it, and we had a great time watching them play and hanging out with Lisa and Brian. Looking forward to going back....

June saw us playing a ton of shows, including another 3 day jaunt to Washington and back with Get Dead, Unfallen Hero's, and No Red Flags. As always this was an absolute piss up, and one of the most fun times we had all year. After getting to Seattle early we headed directly to The Hollowpoints house and proceeded to drink all day, challenging each other to different "feats" until show time. I believe we are still in the lead overall....After we got to The Galway and set up I grabbed my guitar and we went to the Irish bar across the street where we played traditionals in exchange for free Guinness.....the rest of the night is hazy, but I know it involved drinking on The Hollowpoints roof and more challenges, all of which we won handily of course....

July was pretty quiet- we played some shows here and there, but for the most part we laid low and practiced, writing songs for the new record...More on that later.

In August we had some good times- Lisa hooked us up with a slot opening for Goodness at The Showbox in Seattle- what a great time. The Showbox is serious business when in comes to venues, and we had some much for playing on the huge stage in front of well over a thousand people...Hopefully we'll get the chance to play there again soon. Oh yeah, we forgot most of our merch for this show, which at the time made us want to commit rampant homicide...Kind of makes me smile now....At the end of August we held a new album fundraiser show at our house, and it was a smashing success. We want to again thank everyone who came out and showed their support. It was so much fun to play a sweaty, crowded basement show too- look for more of these in '09....

In September we played a couple low-key shows, but for the most part stayed in the basement and rehearsed- the last week we spent in Tacoma recording our new record with Mike from Hell's Kitchen. It was great to literally eat and breath the record for so long, and we can't wait for everyone to hear it....

In October a dream came true with us sharing the stage with Flogging Molly at The Roseland. Words can't really describe how surreal it was to be listening and looking up to these guys for so long and then to be sharing the stage with them....we are so very lucky. Everyone was super friendly and supportive of us, and we'd like to think we made some good friends that night, not to mention a load of new fans. We hope we get the chance to play with them again soon....

In November we played some seriously kick-ass shows, including a killer Berbati's set with The Dry County Crooks, The Altar Boys, and Mike D. We had never played Dry County or The Altar Boys before, and are we ever glad we did- look for more shows with them in '09....
We wrapped up the year in December with another dream come true show- opening for Lucero at Berbati's. What a way to end the year. We had a great time with those guys- here's hoping we can do it again soon.

And that's about it. On a personal level things have been just as crazy- Andrew had a beautiful baby boy named Harper, I got engaged, and Andy got married....It kind of makes my head spin. And now here it is, almost '09. We're all super eager for the new year to get here, as that means more shows. Between the crazy weather we've been having here in Oregon and the holidays we've hardly had the chance to hang out, let alone practice all month, and we're all chomping at the bit to get going again.....
So without giving too much away '09 is looking good for us. There have been, I'm sad to say, some setbacks with the record, and we can't say exactly when we'll have it released. It will be '09, probably earlier than later, but we don't want to rush it- we've worked really hard and know we'd disappoint ourselves and everyone else if we put out something less than perfect. It will be worth the wait, trust us....In the meantime we're all taking some quick trips outta town- Denver for me, Ben heads to Mexico in about 10 days- but when we all get back we're gonna be hitting it hard, so look for us anywhere and everywhere...
Thank you all so much for your support this last year and every year previous. We are incredibly lucky to be able to to this, and even more so that so many of you seem to enjoy it. Have a safe and wonderful New Year, and we'll see you in January......

Sink or Swim,
Dylan

p.s. I'm sure I left out loads- if anyone wants to add anything please do.....
