The intense heat has finally passed and been replaced by a soft,
warm breeze. I’m good in this temperature
it’s comfortable.
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had time to slow down and
watch what’s going on in the world.
Watching Nature, watching the weather and... watching the
mainstream media!!
What a strange and complex machine that is. They seem to
move in synch on certain stories when we’re meant to believe that they are separate
organisations. I’m aware that the few are controlling the many and an agenda
has been decided upon. I’m not going to speculate on their moral pretentions
and as they would probably say... “It’s in the greater interest...” when it
comes to painting a picture of what’s going on out there.
So people tell me to stop watching the news and to stop
reading newspapers. But I would rather see how they tell it. Even if it’s not ‘how
it is’!
The emphasis is on Money, looks, clothes, and false
celebrity whilst 1.4 billion people live at the poverty line or below. Our leaders preach morality whilst bombing innocent civilians in the
name of a just war. Aid to war torn areas is diverted and innocent people are
arrested and detained without criticism from the people at the top of
government that are standing as our ‘protectors’.
As for ‘so called’ entertainment, our TV programming is becoming
laughable and I don’t just mean the comedies. High street DVD rental shops are now
full of Hollywood’s worst drivel. Not long ago it was possible to get thought provoking,
sensitively made films. Hard to find now.
Something I have noticed about the way that some people are
behaving is a kind of ‘polarisation’ in what they believe or are ready to believe
and how they really feel about others.
Some are definitely becoming greedier, more selfish, and
dishonest. They seem to be ignoring their conscience to an extent. Others are
becoming more genuine, open and honest.
The latter, in my mind are the ones who will survive in the
long term. To be completely self serving is grossly unbalanced and can only
lead to trouble.
I was very sad to hear of Michael Jackson’s passing last week and
although his life has been shrouded in controversy and mystery, there is no denying
that his music lifted millions of people. It was a shock to my system. I rarely
hear such skill and emotion in the mainstream these days and it almost seemed
like the end of an era.
The feeling of ‘falseness’ in TV, Movies and the press has
crept up on us and is fast becoming the norm.
But I’m heartened by the fact that there are a lot of people
who are not taken in by it all. They are the real hope. And there are many!!
Peace,
Tony
