Hey all, just in case you've been hiding under a rock or maybe need a reminder :

THRUM will be playing at The Jefferson Theater THIS Saturday Nov 28th for their opening weekend! We're on the bill with Trees On Fire and Astronomers.
The venue is recently restored and gorgeous!  This will be the only show we'll play for a while so, don't miss it!  Doors open at 8!  We go on at 9 pm sharp. http://www.jeffersontheatre.com/
To add to the auspiciousness of the occasion, Brian Chenault will be playing with us as an extra-special guest guitarist and Jonathan Blake AKA Crazy Red Beard will start and complete a brand new painting beside us as we play!

We also are proud to announce the release our debut EP "orsus".  http://thrum.bandcamp.com/  You can listen, purchase and download directly from this page.
This EP, recorded live in the studio with just one stereo microphone, is a record of the very origin of Thrum's analog, ambient soundscapes.
Intended as private demos for the band, these tracks became sought-after for inclusion on multiple award winning indie movie and cable tv documentary soundtracks.*

Also, we ask that you consider becoming a fan of Thrum on Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/THRUM/120486221194?ref=mf

rockingly,

Lance

a French review of Eat Me - A Zombie Musical http://lnk.ms/4Cn7x It's especially hilarious if you use Google translate to read it.
Tuesday, August 18, 2009
Eat Me - A Zombie Musical won "Best Soundtrack". Eat Me features over 30 compositions of mine including The Falsies, Thrum and incidental songs written for the film. Mantra - won "Best Feature Film".
Mantra features a Thrum song prominently at the climactic scene of the film as well as a couple other pieces scattered throughout for mood setting and tension building.
Both films were directed by local film maker Brian Wimer. Additionally, at this fest I got to meet and share my music with Linda Blair, Michael Madsen, Sybil Danning, Megan Franich (from 30 Days of Night), Mike Christopher (The Hare Krishna Zombie) and Ari Lehman (the guy who first played Jason Voorhees).

Acoustic Mafia is the last of four smaller themed fests building up to
Charlottesville's first comprehensive original music festival taking place in the fall of 2008.

This is also the last night of music @ Satellite Ballroom! It officially closes @ the end of the month!

WHAT IS C-FEST?
C-FEST is Charlottesville's first annual music festival. It will serve to showcase the outstanding quality and diversity of Charlottesville's original music scene starting in the fall of 2008.

To build awareness of C-FEST, there have been/will be a series of four smaller themed festivals: FREAKFEST Sat Sept 8th 2007 (fringe-rock and out-there acoustic), NOBLE SAVAGES Sat Dec 1st 2007(rock, pop and hip-hop) and two other fests; SURROUND SOUND Sat Feb 16th 2008 focusing on ambient, experimental and jazz genres and then, ACOUSTIC MAFIA Sat May 24th 2008 focusing on original acoustic, americana, and roots music.

My primary goals are to help our talented area bands network, and provide them with the best tools to help them promote themselves and future incarnations of this event.

All band sets for each fest will be multi-track recorded, video-taped and photographed by Charlottesville's best recording engineers, film-makers and photogs. Each band will be given (yes, free of charge) all their raw tracks, footage and photos to use to promote themselves. A CD and DVD of festival highlights will be made as well.

Through the combined strength of Charlottesville's own bands, engineers, photographers and videographers we will solidify and shed light on the entirety of one of the best music scenes on the east cost - bar none.

Hey Everyone,

I'm keeping very busy these days with Falsies, Naked Puritans and Thrum as well as recording other artists I like in my spare time.
But, perhaps the biggest project I have going on right now is C-FEST.  Check out the next event:

C-FEST's two previous events (Freakfest and Noble Savages) were well-attended celebrations
of Charlottesville's rock, pop, hip-hop and fringe music.

NOW this third C-FEST event, will focus on the area's best ambient, experimental
and jazz groups and happens to feature two UVa music professors - Judith Shatin & John D'Earth!

C-FEST.org presents:
Surround Sound
Sat Feb 16th @ Satellite Ballroom

A gathering of Charlottesville's best original ambient, experimental, & jazz groups.

Tickets $10 - www.satelliteballroom.tickets.musictoday.com

Charlottesville's first comprehensive original music festival taking place in the summer or fall of 2008.

Hey Everybody!

Come celebrate a wonderful 2nd year of absurdist rock @ Durty Nelly's this Sat! 2007 saw a ton of growth for the band - tighter playing, even more songs (over 30 now), lovingly riotous audiences, live radio appearances, excellent press reviews, and broken arms and bruises, all in the name of rock n roll!

The Falsies took their first few steps out of town (Richmond, D.C., Baltimore) and were richly rewarded with adulation and critical praise for doing so. (No seriously... look at the collection of reviews below!)

The last Falsies last show of 2007 will erupt on Sat Dec 15th @ Durty Nelly's in Charlottesville Va. It's a must see send off!

When they resume playing in Feb of 2008, they'll have the long awaited follow-up to "the Real Fake Things" CD in hand! The first show may very-well be a CD release.

rockingly,

Lance

REVIEWS

"The Falsies are obviously a band with a sense of humor. But this Charlottesville based group also put a lot of care into their songwriting. The album has echoes of pre-Beatles rock and roll, the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth and the Cramps, but manages to be very original in a deliciously low-fi way."

Chris Connelly, OnTap, Washington D.C.

"The Falsies keep it real with pop-rock melodies and a chaotic stage show that showcases their failure to take themselves seriously. But, if there's anything this quartet approaches with serious intent, it's their music."

Style Weekly, Richmond, VA

"The songs are absolutely hilarious! Reading the lyrics while listening to the disc made me chuckle out loud---The music accompanying the words is equally outlandish."

Damani Harrison, The Hook

"Of all the groups we've heard, these guys could be the first to sell a million records with the right exposure---maybe a claymation video."

Bruce Flohr, ATO Records, printed in The Hook

"It takes an open mind to appreciate this tongue-incheek, self-aware music. The intentional mayhem of The Falsies performances sheds light on the
fun that they want to have with their audiences."

Lauren Merkel, The Collegian, Richmond, VA

"---weird but completely enjoyable set of original rock---the crowd was as focused on the tunes as they were on Peter's tits."

Spencer Lathrop, C-ville Weekly

"I still remember the incapacitating delight... The music is undeniably frenzied in a chipper, psychotically-smiling way that makes people bang their heads and jump around like Kangaroos."

Danielle Wang, UVa's Declaration

"If you haven't ventured out to see the Falsies play, then you are seriously shorting yourself in this life, buddy. A more engaging and entertaining local act you will not find. THE FALSIES are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

Cripsy Duck, Cvillain.com, Charlottesville VA

"An insanely entertaining pop-rock band!"

staff writer, C-ville Weekly

"extraordinary"

The Hook, Charlottesville, Va

"See The Falsies. Feel The Falsies. Your ears will jizz rainbows of equal parts rock-n-roll and happiness!"

Chris Zysk, UVa's Declaration

"captivating insanity"

Vijith Assar, The Hook

"Falsies fans know that the onstage chaos is half the fun (the other half involves shouting along to choruses like "Ten Ton Cheese" and "We want to fuck!"), and wouldn't want it any other way."

Dan Catalano, C-ville Weekly

Noble Savages was another great night for local music!  We had excellent sets by all bands and attendance that surpassed that of Freakfest!  Check out  the selection of Noble Savages photos and video highlights posted at www.c-ville.com

many thanks to www.jasonkeefer.com for the wonderful photos
and to Jonathan Shepard @ Paladin Media for putting together a highlight reel in short order.

There's more to come so stay tuned!
