The name A Shoreline Dream emanates waves of blissful controlled feedback. Add the fact that German producer Ulrich Schnauss appears on three tracks and one can assume that Recollections of Memory is a meticulously layered affair with the word 'SHOEGAZE' stamped in bold letters over the whole set.
The first song "Manhattan Beach" doesn't dispel this initial impression. It hits you upside the head with a blasting vocal line from singer Ryan Policky then falls comfortably into a buoyant dance groove that perfectly facilitates a rhythmically pendulum bowed head.
From here the music stays sublime. The next cut, "Hypermode," which features Ulrich Schnauss, has more of a driving beat but maintains a shimmering fullness and far off heavenly vocals that are a staple feature of the album. While the music is somewhat derivative of some early 90's bands, A Shoreline Dream manage to maintain a high level of musical integrity. They take a focused, consistently tight approach. They prefer precision and brevity. Most songs fall in the three to four minute range. The album sticks to a basic formula; stay in motion, establish swayable beats and keep the production crystal clear. Within that scope the music ranges from soft to hard but never goes too far off in either direction. In this middle tempo where the boundaries remain defined there is little room for error. Recollections of Memory is successful because it is extremely well put together both in its concise songwriting and flawless instrumentation.

Very cool mention in the review of the Ulrich Schnauss appearance at SXSW:
http://www.xlr8r.com/news/2009/03/xlr8r-s-sxsw-wrapUlrich Schnauss @ Elysium
If there was some extra richness to Ulrich Schnauss’ performance on the first night of SXSW, it was thanks to the addition of Rob McVey and Ryan Policky of Denver-based outfit A Shoreline Dream—a welcome surprise, since Schnauss had been the only one on the billing for that evening. The two acts have been teaming up in the studio lately, and churning out mesmerizing results like “neverChanger,” and their live act is all the better: a shoegaze orgy of reverb, warm fuzz, and disappearing rhythms that evolved into ambient techno when McVey and Policky stepped back to let Schnauss slowly dive into his own set.
