The year started on a bittersweet note with the final weekly Durrr party before our beloved venue, The End, closed it's doors forever. Queues round the block all night and seven 'one more tunes' made for an incredible and emotional night.

With Durrr no longer existing as a weekly party i threw myself into the Studio in 2009, with remixes for White Lies and the legendary Alexander Robotnick seeing the light of day in the first few months of the year.

March featured a trip to Miami for the Winter Music Conference where Durrr hosted a room at downtown venue The Vagabond, with excellent live sets from Late Of The Pier and Rye Rye, and i played as part of Erol Alkan's 'Cool In The Pool' beach party alongside Hercules & Love Affair and Fan Death.

Back on English Soil, Durrr went head to head with Bugged Out for an Easter Extravaganza at Fire in South London and with Radio Soulwax at Brixton Academy for two sell out nights.

In the summer I had the honour of being asked to remix the seminal San Francisco synth-punk band Units for their first release since 1982, the result, a reworking of their 1980 classic 'High Pressure Days', received plays from DJs from all over the musical spectrum, including Aeroplane, Erol Alkan, Joakim, Mylo and In Flagranti and has been seen popping up in a lot of DJs year end lists.

Durrr was busy over the summer too, hosting the second installment of Durrr Paris at Social Club with excellent live sets from The xx, Michachu and Your Twenties, and a room at Fabric with In Flagranti and Kindness providing stellar sets. I also made my first trip to Japan, playing sets to packed venues in Tokyo and Osaka and remixed the excellent YACHT.

The Autumn months saw remixes for Swedish disco-bots Jackpot and French fancies Plastiscines and a run of great parties alongside Erol Alkan, in Manchester for Warehouse Project (with Aeroplane, Zombie Nation and The Juan Maclean) and Liverpool at Chibuku.

Winter has proved productive with a recent remix of 2009's breakthrough act The xx becoming a blog smash and my first original release, released as part of In Flagranti's 'Electric Fling', hitting #1 in Juno's download chart.

And the rest of the year? Right now I am putting the finishing touches to the first 12" on my new label, Hungry Beat, a compilation of 4 of my remixes from the last 12 months, planning some very special parties for 2010 and, of course, ending the year with Durrr's third annual Not New Years Eve party with Erol Alkan and Aeroplane. Roll on 2010!

In Flagranti presents: Electric Fling from Rory Phillips on Vimeo.

Out now on Codek, 'In Flagrati presents: Electric Fling' is the result of a jam session during a dinner party in London sometime in January 2009. As we were banging on cowbells and twisting knobs on a synth, it was all recorded onto multitrack. After the session, the assembled players, myself, G & S and In Flagranti each had a copy of the recording and made their own individual track. The results are now available on 12" or on digital from Juno and Beatport.

What a busy year! The first without Trash, which bowed out at the end of 2006 after ten amazing years but also the first for our new monday party Durrr, which since January has gone from strength to strength, hosting key early performances from Late Of The Pier, Foals, These New Puritans, Dan Deacon and more as well as mind blowing live electronic performances from the likes of Soulwax and Simian Mobile Disco and DJ sets from Justice, Erol Alkan and Klaxons. Towards the end of the year I also started a new, more disco led party with Nadia Ksaiba called Say Yes, the opening night of which was a truly joyous affair.

Residencies aside i played all across Europe, The US and Canada and finally got around to assembling my various pieces of analogue gear, odd toys, effects and other instruments into a cohesive studio, located in a spooky lock up in Hackney, where I remixed Chromeo, The Gossip and Kleerup and Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat' which by accident rather than design led me to do two things i never thought i'd do, remix a number 1 single and have one of my mixes played on the terraces of Ibiza (apparently).

I also spent a good deal of 2007 on tour with Whitey, both playing keyboards in his live band in the spring and in winter as half of a double header DJ/Live tour of the US and Canada which involved Mr Whitey and myself performing stripped down live electronic 'club' versions of his tracks with various synths/drum machines mixed in and out of a DJ set as if they were records. It was experimental and lots of fun for it with no two shows the same.

And 2008? It's already looking hectic, with trips to South America and the US on the cards, my forthcoming remix of the Teenagers' 'Starlett Johansson' already gaining play from the likes of 2manyDJs, Riton, Erol Alkan and Riotous Rockers months before it's release, as well as live shows playing keyboards for Whitey and Kleerup and working on some original material in my Hackney bunker. Phew!

Later this month i will be embarking on an American DJ tour but with the added twist of a live element in collaboration with the man they call Whitey to support the US release of his 'Wrap It Up' EP.

The idea being that it will be a DJ set that also dips in and out of live, stripped down, stretched out and messed up electronic versions of Whitey tracks using drum machines, synths, samples and vocals. It's going to be a recipe for party madness or total disaster, either way it will be an interesting experiment and a great night out so come say hello!

Kleerup's amazing 'With Every Heartbeat' with Robyn is now sitting pretty at NUMBER ONE in the charts here in the UK, congratulations!

The bad/good news though is that to make way for the UK release my remix of the track from it's original release last year has been taken off itunes and as a result is now free to download from my page, so go snap it up!
