Before you read the actual article I just want to acknowledge the writer.  His name is Mr. Marques and I found this over the internet.  Apparently it was posted the same day as my performance on BET's 106&Park, so thank you for taking the time to write a few words about ME! Ok...On with the show....

"Jamie Jones is an up and coming singer who I happened to see on BET's "106 & Park" today. This young lady reminds me of a lot of people and is also the epitome of why we debate the race issue.

When I first saw her I thought to myself, "I see the curled blonde hair and pale skin, but that ain't no white girl". She took me back many years to when I first saw Mariah Carey and thought the same thing. In that way, she also reminded me of Jill Jones, a former background singer and rumored ex-girlfriend of Prince. For those of us who remember, Jill was the blonde in Prince's "1999" video and the waitress in the "Purple Rain" movie. I remember looking at her and thinking, again, "that ain't no white girl". She looked like one of my cousins. Years later, I would see Jill in her natural dark hair and read in her biography that her father was Italian and her mother African-American. Ah-HAH!!

Jamie Jones also reminded me of Mariah because, when I first saw Mariah in 1990, her first CD hadn't come out yet and she was preparing to sing the National Anthem before an NBA Finals game. When she started singing, again I thought, "that ain't no white girl". At times, Jamie Jones' voice reminded me of another "she can't be white" singer, Teena Marie. I remember back in the 80s, my mother and I were looking at a photo of Teena and my moms insisted that "that ain't no white girl...look at dem knees." She's black because of her knees? I hadn't heard anything like that! Plus the picture we were looking at was in black and white. I'm not sure if my moms actually thought Teena looked black or that, in her mind, white women don't sing like that.

Jamie Jones said on "106 & Park" that she's a "mutt", a mix of a lot of things. But if she had proclaimed herself white would we question her? Would we accept her as white or debate as to whether she got some "..." in her?"

All I can say is...My point for posting this is...My 1st single will be dropping soon.  I am shooting a video for it within the next month or so, its about this particular topic and it's called "WHATEVER."

Ok so the definition of mutt generally refers to a dog of  an unknown descent; a dog with two or more breeds.
On March 19th, I was on a contest hosted by BET called Wild Out Wednesday on 106 & Park. During my introduction host Terrance asked me " What's your nationality?" Personally I have no problems telling people what that is, but it's just very detailed b/c I’m multi-racial deriving from European, Native American, Irish, Dutch, and African-American descent (and probably more than that. LOL! There it is all out on the table. To me, I’m not any different then other multi-racial people out here. I mean seriously, if I went on and on about how I’m mixed with all these races, it kind of seems like I’m making it a huge deal and personally everyone is mixed in some way.
Understand that finding my identity has always been somewhat of an issue for me. Not fully knowing my mother’s background (she was adopted) and never knowing my father will make that hard on anyone. It came to a point as I got older were I wanted to know who I was, were I came from, and where my place in this world was.
So to sum this up, I see the word being used as a term of endearment for instance, "what up mutt?" Yeah, call me crazy but, I am proud of who I am and I love the fact that I am "a mutt".  So readers, you should be proud of who you are too...whatever race you may be!
