well, not really but we recorded at home.
hee hee.

I can’t hold it in any longer. We have these songs, ready to be listened to… but there’s always something. You hold off before putting it all out there... So many questions about what to do..

Are we going to do an album? Don’t we need them officially mixed? How do you even release an album these days? How do I make homemade ketchup?

Is this your final answer?

Considering that I don’t know the direct future of these songs, or the direct direction of my life  I thought I would share, while trying to figure that all out.

And have a cookie too!

YUM.

3 songs

Three of many recorded in our beautiful home. Thank you aaron, sam and eric for spending countless Thursdays recording. You were well fed so there should be no complaints.

Have a listen.

Lyrics below.

Xoxo, Camille

She is wise but knows no meaning of love, no meaning of love.

He stays back and watches out for home invaders at night.

And we can’t make them love us, take our food and run away, love us

fix yourself up on the porch and run away when we pass by.

We all thought that he had died, he just stays out of the sun.

We all thought that she was him and called her Jefferson.

And we can’t make them love us, take our food and run away, love us

fix yourself up on the porch and run away when we pass by.

We can’t make them love us, hoping they’ll come to they’re senses, they’re wild.

Someday I’ll have an orange friend of my own that does what I say

stealing time, your wound up doll
i've changed. my heart belongs with yours
seven years attached. they take you
away dear, away dear, away
away dear, away dear, away
It followed you longer than you knew
I wanted you to say how beaut-
iful i am to say how stupid you were
too.
go move
away dear, away dear, away
away dear, away dear, away
It followed you longer than you knew
AND I've numbed myself, AND I drink to much wine
to keep my head straight
when i stay up at night
keep a light on in case you come home
or turn it off in case it scares you

away dear, away dear, away

Save your breath for another day I will be waiting , I will be waiting

Troubled souls have the hardest time Being held captive, no sense in staying

Tell tale blue(bruised)  heart of mine, I’m yours. Know that you’re mine

White lies brought me to find my home, and I’m keeping it safe

Hold my hand as we fly away, my dream will find you, my dream will find you

Save regret for another day, I will be waiting, I will be waiting.

Running late, not enough time it slipped my mind, I’ve got this to give.

Will you take the words that I have they’re tucked away.

So we played friday night in Hot Springs. The town wax museum proudly introduced the newest figure. "president obama". Well... i slept feet away from the place, but will sadly report i didn't get to see it.
Darn.
Maxines was wonderful. The venue was once an old brothel i believe. No left over residue thank god. Andy made such yummy bloody mary's. We slept outside the arlignton hotel, just next door to the hot springs national park. We slept in the van of course. It was pretty amazing. i held my bladder for a good 5 hours, and then went in search for a toliet.

.....we took a nice route to Springfield . Here we are playing at the outland ballroom. Good set for sure. I busted my pipes on the "good enough " tune. Damn Cyndi. Nice response. I was a littlle nervy because it's Jah Roots home base, and I was worried they were expecting dreds and such.

I ran downstairs and landed in this wonderful coffee house. I'm sipping on a tasty chai. and a little buzzed from the precious previous vodka oj's.

i just better pee before we leave.
I miss home. but i have eric, and that's a happy thought!!!

I love you ST.LOUIS!
We played Broadway Oyster Bar, a llittle venue across from some train tracks and directly across from a white castle. I got a big kick out of that.
I get so scared meeting new people, in new towns. ... the crowd was amazing. I drink just enough to make me comfortable, then i blab and people actually listen. One lady was extra pissed I wrote a song about cats while her great dane sat on her drunken lap. I also made the mistake of calling the dog a pooch, and quickly jumped into song before she could scream back . For the most part people were loving, and came up to say hi afterwards, took shots, made connections.
A fellow starbucks partner spread the word that i would be playing, and a few of her customers came out. Loved it. Sold more cd's than I would back home.

Took some mini burgers to-go, packed up in the van and Cas drove for a good 8 hours to georgia. amazing.

Here we are. tired, stinky hot and full from a meal at wolfgang pucks.
Tonight is Smiths Olde Bar, looks cool! We've got a hotel tonight, internet access, shower, and a krogers next door. YUM!

Don't know if it will make much of  difference or not. we shall see.

cam

p.s. might i add this is just a name change. Still working with same peeps and playing most of the same tunes:)

Cas Haley, Camille Cortinas, Eric Neal and Dogdander!

Monday, June 30, 2008

We're proud to announce that some well deserved attention is being given to Eric Neal in recent weeks.

Wednesday August 6th     -Eric's Birthday bash that will also launch his weekly Artist In residence at Club Dada for the month of August. Stay tuned for more details.

We would also like to congratulate Eric on his well  deserved nomination for "best instrumentalist" for the Dallas Observer awards this year.  Maybe we're biased, but we think that the 10 plus bands he's in would agree.  More than anything, this nomination sparked the thought, "damn he's such a good musician, and he's a pretty cool guy too". Time to give him some props.

Yes he's a very accomplished multi instrumentalist, and in terms of main instruments (guitar, bass, violin) he's easily one of the best players in town.

Eric teaches music by day, is fed plenty of session work and he's currently finishing a 3 week tour with Cas Haley and Woodbelly.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with his work beyond fishing for comets, but here are a few  bands/projects past and present and notables he's shared the stage with.  it's pretty insane…

The Slack

Escort Service

Salim Nourallah and the Noise

Homespun Remedies

Doug Burr

The Double Downs

Cas Haley and Woodbelly

Dogdander

Billygoat Brink and the Neal Family Band

Dave Little

Jenn Nabb

Ned Lane

Solly

Kristy Kruger

Olospo

The Jones Thing

Sara Radle

Gentleman Losers

....and more...........

Thanks for your time!

i made veggie burgers and tator tots. I try to stay out of the way of this recording stuff. Eric is still out of town i miss him like crazy. we will have tons of recording for him when he returns. Yay for homework.

I ventured out into the real world for a bit. salim was playing at dada. i was afraid to sing "don't be afraid" because it was acoustic and the crowd was shy.

bought a bottle of red and peach teas for the guys, came back in time for the work to be almost done. Aaron and Sam recut most of the guitar/bass for "they were red" along with adding a 12 string part. I guess the parts wern't matching and the easiest solution is to start all over.  I actually liked the song by song approach. i assumed more would be done all over the map, but it was actually sweet to hear one song coming to its true form! it's beautiful:)

i got jacked up on coffee tonight.
We are in the beginning phase of tracking acoustic guitars. It's a long process, but it becomes campfire time with the fellas.  without the marshmellows.

I don't really know what happened tonight to be honest. I try to stay out of the way with the recording unless i'm useful cause i tend to get anxious. So where do I go you ask? In the kitchen to play mrs. crocker. it's fun.

Eric finished the bass for two songs, Sam got two acoustics out of the way. I did a magic intro which prbably won't stay for long.  We had a blast once again. Thursday nights are becoming my favorite.

-p.s.  made beef mexicana (minus beef and used morning star crumbles)
skittles were dessert

Eric leaves next week to tour with cas and woodbelly. I will be very sad, but I'm withholding  the young and the restless stories. (see other blog ...kidding)  So anyways, he's leaving for a few weeks and we will knock out additional guitars and few vocals on the 19th.

nite for now:)
