Further to today's scheduled NSW police press conference and subsequent news release, Homebake Headquarters would like to acknowledge and thank all media that did attend this event at The Domain in Sydney. As we prepare for the 15th anniversary of Australia's iconic Homebake Music, Film & Arts Festival celebrating the extraordinary talents of our contemporary artists including Tim Finn, Powderfinger, Jet, Sarah Blasko, Sia, Daniel Merriweather, Eskimo Joe etc (as well  as the Australian film Industry), we would also like to extend our gratitude to NSW Police for their continual support of Homebake. As per all major events across the country, we welcome & support Police drug (& dog) operations - whom will be in attendance this Saturday December 5th.  Once again, we repeat that Homebake does not condone nor endorse the use of illicit substances and any persons found in possession of such substances will be duly prosecuted.

All that said, we certainly do also hope that the safety of concert attendees & drug operations is represented across all events taking place this weekend as stated in today's press conference. Thus we endorse and expect to witness the same level of those aforementioned police operations and security presence (if not greater) to be in attendance at the scheduled NSW Govt funded V8 Supercar race and music concert events taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Homebush.

We do look forward to reviewing full Police reports regarding all operations for both Homebake and The V8 events and coinciding concerts for the betterment of concert attendees and patrons.

THANKYOU.

Hey there all you lucky Homebake Ticket Holders - you can now access and download the Homebake 09 map at the official website - http://www.homebake.com

* We also ask that you please be mindful keeping the Domain and surrounding area's clean. We have implemented a recycling system for all cans and PET bottles (make sure to check this out at all bars) and have copious marked bins throughout the site. Please  use these bins as you see them marked and show that you respect the environment and in turn, keeping our beautiful city pristine.

PLEASE KEEP ALL OF THIS IN MIND WHEN COMING TO HOMEBAKE  AND MAKE SURE TO LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER. IN THE EVENT THAT YOU NOTICE A PROBLEM OR FEEL THAT SOMEONE REQUIRES ASSISTANCE, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE CLOSEST HOMEBAKE SECURITY REPRESENTATIVE (CLEARLY IDENTIFIED IN HOMEBAKE SECURITY SHIRTS).
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE & MOST OF ALL, ENJOY YOURSELVES!

Sunday, November 22, 2009
OK so its official,  Homebake audiences are the maddest, keenest drink container 'recyclers' across the entire Australian festival circuit. Over the past 2 years our patrons have kicked some pretty significant recycling goals including an incredible average recycling rate of just under 93%. That is just shy of a quarter of a million aluminium cans and PET plastic drink bottles. If you stacked these drink containers end to end they would reach
approximately 3km into the air (and likely cause an air traffic control nightmare).

But seriously we think you guys did a fabulous job and the grounds looked fantastic. Apart from the brilliant environmental benefits we are buzzed to be able to provide a safer, cleaner and more beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens experience, one in which to watch some of the best Australian tunes from across the nation.

So how does this recycling thing work? To encourage our patrons to recycle all suitable beverage containers all aluminium or PET plastic bottles have an extra $1.00 added to them. Each time you  bring your container back to a recycling centre you redeem your $1.00 in the form of a $1.00 drink ticket. It is very simple really, all you have to do is follow these 3 steps:

1. Take your empty containers (aluminium can or PET plastic bottle) to one of 3 recycling centres located next to each of the main bars

2. Hand over your container or containers to receive a drink ticket valued at $1.00 for each container handed back to the recycling centre staff (please note a  limit of 20 drink containers applies per visit - of course you can come back as often as you like)

3. Use your drink tickets towards the cost of your next drink.

Remember the bars close at 10.30pm and the recycling centres close at 10.15pm sharp, so make sure you have used your tickets before the close of the event.

Recycling tickets are not redeemable for cash so please use them during the event.

Folks - We also ask that you please be mindful keeping the Domain and surrounding area's clean. We have implemented this recycling system for all cans and PET
bottles (make sure to check this out at all bars) and have area's marked throughout the site. For all other rubbish, please make sure to use clearly marked bins
and show that you respect the environment and in turn, keeping our beautiful city pristine.

OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS

We hope to have full times and map details posted this week although will make sure to let you all know within our next newsletter. Please note that St John's Ambulance will be on site for the duration of the event so if you require assistance refer to the soon to be released maps for locations. The Red Cross Save A Mate (SAM) program will also on site throughout the day. Comprising teams of accredited staff SAM volunteers (visibly dressed in Save A
Mate shirts), they will be roaming Homebake and are there to assist you. Make sure to say hello to both the Red Cross and St John's volunteer teams.

And finally a message from NSW HEALTH....
As you get pumped for this years Homebake remember to stay safe. If a mate has a bad reaction to drugs seek medical help immediately. Be honest about what they've  taken and don't forget, Ambos are trained to help, not dob. Don't let drugs use you. NSW Health.

***IMPORTANT - Be very aware that there will be strong Police & Security presence at HOMEBAKE  to ensure general security and safety for all patrons. As seen across all major events taking place in NSW, Police drug (& dog) detection operations will also be in attendance.

Remember folks - Homebake Music, Film & Arts Festival is all about celebrating the contemporary & not so contemporary, albeit talented individuals representing our music, film, fashion and arts industries. We hope you share our sentiments and join the 15th anniversary celebrations as we cheer on a selection of Australia & New Zealand's finest!

Folks - here at Homebake HQ, the votes have been counted and  we can finally announce those lucky two last bands taking stage at Homebake 2009 courtesy of the massive triplej unearthed national competition and the Hopetoun Hotel incentive.

Being one of jjj's biggest Unearthed competitions of the year, it's been announced that Sydney band BOY & BEAR are the official winners of the triplej unearthed Homebake competition! Brought together under the auspices of a unique partnership that has fostered a celebratory, multi-instrumental blend of folk and alt-country Boy & Bear are described as crooning vocals lifting over tangibly raw, plodding guitar twangs and chugging percussion, subtly reminiscent of 70s folk ballads with an infectious velocity and richness that unveils itself as each song is played.  Their sound has often been likened to that of Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes and The Shins Check them out here: http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Artists/FeaturedArtist.aspx?artistid=27729

And.. after a full year of searching via a process of elimination involving weekly showcases at Sydney's famed Hopetoun Hotel, we are equally proud to announce that a duo from Sydney
have won this long running incentive. Being the unusually titled kyü, they are a new-ish Sydney experimental pop act, who describe their sound as "a tea party with Beethoven, Bowie, Bjork and a Banshee".
Check them out here - http://www.myspace.com/kyusounds

Congratulations to both BOY & BEAR & KYU. And a note to all those lucky Homebake 2009 ticketholders, please make sure to arrive
early to catch both these bands as they open our infamous Hopetoun Stage!

But wait there's more - and the film action couldn't be finer at Homebake 2009.....

'Our Homebake 2009 Cinema Pavilion  promises to be the most exciting exhibition of Australian and New Zealand filmmaking talent we've ever put together. Our Homebake Cinema Pavilion has always been about honouring a charter that recognises and promotes fresh local talent and  placing it all before an entertainment loving audience. We like to think we're doing our bit for the Australian film industry and, in particular, for those on the up and up. Since 2000, we've had short films from filmmakers who have gone on to establish themselves as prominent and highly successful feature feature film directors, both here and overseas. The Homebake Cinema Pavilion, unlike the major competitive film festivals in Australia, is not an awards-based festival with a first run eligibility criteria - it is simply a showcase of the most exciting work out there, the best of the best, and, as such, we are able to access films that have already taken awards at many of the most prestigious festivals both locally and around the world. This years program includes films which have taken, or been nominated for, major awards at Cannes, Sundance, Berlin,  Montreal, Edinburgh, St Petersburg, Sydney and Melbourne International Film Festivals, London, Chicago, Venice, Toronto, the list goes on and on... Every film selected is a standout for one reason or another - and we take enormous care and pride in the selection process. For a full list of films and filmmakers, please see below.... however most excitingly, The Homebake Cinema Pavilion (formerly the Homebake Cinema Tent) is once again located in the grand interior of the Pavilion on the Park (North/East Corner of The Domain). With extra screens, extra seating and a much larger set up than we've ever had - 2009 promises to be our best year yet.'
 Kieran Darcy-Smith, Bluetongue Films.

HOMEBAKE 2009 – the Fifteenth Anniversary
It’s SOLD OUT – but wait, there’s more!

As announced back in July, Homebake 09 – The Fifteenth Anniversary sold out in record time this year and we are once again overwhelmed by the reaction. We extend our sincerest gratitude to all whom have shown their support and with such intense and surprising reaction, we can at least proudly proclaim that the local music industry is well and truly in a healthy shape.

And now that HOMEBAKE has officially placed the 'Full House' sign up on it's front door, what better way to abide by our ‘unwritten charter' than to give a bunch of established, some new( and some lesser known, although exceptionally talented) bands the opportunity to expose their collective musical wares to the masses. So folks, we want to stick to our words and instead of competing against the plethora of festival announcements flooding this great country of ours, it is with much pleasure that we introduce you to the bands that will complete the line up for this year's celebration of Antipodean music, film and fashion…

In August this year, with more than a decade of song-writing under his belt, Something For Kate’s front man PAUL DEMPSEY finally unleashed ‘Everything Is True’ his first solo album. With rave reviews countrywide PAUL DEMPSEY has been plastered across newspapers and magazines countrywide as the album’s second single ‘Ramona Was a Waitress’ simultaneously spun around airwaves across the nation. He’s just completed an impressive run of sold out national solo dates (with his backing band Shannon Vanderwert and Patrick Bourke, both of Dallas Crane fame) and as the sold out signs went up demand was huge and more dates were added.  ‘Everything Is True’ has illuminated PAUL DEMPSEY’s standing as one of Australia’s leading songwriters. The immense guitars and conclusive backbeat that Dempsey has orchestrated over Something For Kate’s five acclaimed albums are put aside, succeeded by a striking new palette where a tender voice and expressive acoustic guitar are supplemented by airy rhythms, the expert punctuation of an electric guitar and gently immersive keyboards. This is music where light filters through the gaps, uplifting and eminently melodic. Expect nothing short of a brilliant set from PAUL DEMPSEY and friends at Sydney’s Domain come Saturday December 5th.

Ok, we may be going against the ‘Homebaked grain’ here, although we checked the rules and there’s nothing that states that backing band members need to reside in Australia. And so with this ‘statement of admission made, we now present our next participant with an exciting twist. Signed to the famous Motown label, GIN WIGMORE’s powerful voice has been compared to that of mega stars Macy Gray and Duffy and at just sixteen she won the US-based International Song Writing Contest beating 11,000 songwriters from 77 countries. This sublimely talented young Kiwi singer has just released her extraordinary debut album ‘Holy Smoke’ which was recorded in Hollywood’s famed Capitol studios with Grammy nominated producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Eminem, Nelly Furtado, Maroon 5) and with THE CARDINALS as her backing band. Yes that’s right! The Cardinals of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals fame! GIN WIGMORE’s ‘Holy Smoke’ album is not only garnering rave reviews in the land of the long white cloud but it’s been embraced by critics here in Australia and since major international players like Perez Hilton and The New York Times waxed lyrical about her debut EP when it was introduced to them via live performances last year it’s only a matter of time before this young lady starts making serious waves internationally. Expect a quirky intoxicating set from GIN WIGMORE and special guest international stars THE CARDINALS when they take to the stage at HOMEBAKE 09!

Now based in the UK, dream popsters HOWLING BELLS will return home to Australia & cap off a massive year with their debut performance at HOMEBAKE. After the release of their self-titled debut album in May of 2006, HOWLING BELLS found themselves on the favourable end of a U.K. press explosion, pulling in 4- and 5-star reviews from the likes of The Sun, The Independent, MOJO, and The Guardian, the last proclaiming them “on the verge of unequivocal magnificence.” Stein’s sultry vocals guided the band’s gritty, pounding charge like a siren through dark seas, inspiring writers to garnish their reviews with epithets like shadowy indie-pop and blues-noir. In March they released their ARIA Top 30 album ‘Radio Wars’ again with enthusiastic reviews received across the UK, Europe, Japan and North America. Fresh from a slew of European festival dates, and major North American and European tours with Coldplay the Bells return to their homeland as an undeniably powerful and compelling live act, come December 5th you’ll immerse yourself in a sublime slice of timeless guitar pop when HOWLING BELLS take to the stage at HOMEBAKE 09.

These young Brisbane rockers will hit the stage at HOMEBAKE after a two month European tour stint. YVES KLEIN BLUE’s debut album ‘Ragged and Ecstatic’ maximized the success of their ‘Draw Attention To Themselves EP’ which saw lead single ‘Polka’ dancing its way into the minds of audiences across Australia as the soundtrack to the Mitsubishi Lancer advert. Great is a word that understates ‘Ragged and Ecstatic’ an album that subtly and cleverly captures the exuberance and experience of life, but in a way that's as universal as it is personal. With an off-the-cuff, energetic and live feel, it veers from the buoyant, bright and swaggering single ‘Getting Wise’ and irresistible ‘Make Up Your Mind’, to the cheeky and joyous ska of ‘Summer Sheets’ and Dylan-esque generational anthem ‘About The Future’. Wonderfully original melodies ingrain, sentiments resonate and the feeling and splashes of colour carried by Tomlinson’s turns of phrase are illuminating. Currently on tour with Wolfmother this band cut the mustard in the live arena with a ferocious and frenetic attitude as they whip through their enthusiastic sets. YVES KLEIN BLUE will be well and truly primed to deliver an energetic and resonating performance at HOMEBAKE 09!

Its been a rollercoaster ride for DIE! DIE! DIE!, who released their debut self-titled album in 2005 and have toured New Zealand, Australia, US, UK and Europe almost solidly since. Releasing their internationally acclaimed second album, 'Promises Promises' in early 2008 it was the conclusion of three extremely hard years of work; three lives that experienced growing up, friendships gained, friendships lost, respect, confusion, destroyed egos and pretend politics, living well and living hard. As stated in their bio at the time, ‘Promises, Promises feels like (r)evolution’ - and it was....a revolution for a creative scene motivated by the DIY ethic. Having toured (& spent most of their time) again in the UK and Europe during the second half of 2008 and early 2009, these 'fun boy three' returned home to their native New Zealand to spend an intense period writing and recording their impending (and incredible) new yet to be titled third album. Having heard this masterpiece, we're damn well excited about its eventual release. Right now, DIE! DIE! DIE! are once again performing sold out dates throughout Europe, the UK and with a pit stop happening in the USA, they will return to Homebake exclusively previewing their brand new tracks. In the words of their cheeky front man, Andrew Wilson - “We are bringing grace to our records because we are allowed to.”

The innovative PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY set chins wagging recently launching their debut album ‘Hope Is For Hopers’ with seven shows in seven days, six of those in one day, five on the back of a flat bed truck throughout different locations in Sydney with the final show and official album launch held at Purple Sneakers. Childhood buddies Berkfinger and MC Bad Genius with an ever rotating ensemble of drummers have travelled to all corners of the country touring with Manchester Orchestra, Dappled Cities, Yves Klein Blue, Bluejuice, as well as selling out their own national headline tour. They’ve also had some serious synch action with tracks played on Channel 9’s record breaking ‘Underbelly’ TV series. Expect nothing short of a show-stealing set filled with raw energy when PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY deliver their upbeat smart and ruff pop songs at HOMEBAKE 2009.

The term “jack of all, master of all” isn’t exactly one that gets bandied about but is one that may well apply to this 21 year old skate rat from Sydney’s north-west. JONATHAN BOULET makes a brand of ceremoniously uplifting, deeply colourful pop that sounds like something for which you’ve been searching but never thought you’d find. You’re probably familiar with his first single the cleverly titled ‘A Community Service Announcement’, a glorious garage band pocket symphony that feels like rolling in a field of daisies, which has been aired regularly on the likes of FBI and Triple J. Currently on tour with Tame Impala, the prodigiously talented, JONATHAN BOULET wrote, recorded, produced and played almost every instrument in his tiny garage studio, using whatever means necessary to accomplish his triumphant self titled debut which will be available for all to discover before the year ends. We welcome the amazing JONATHAN BOULET as he makes his debut HOMEBAKE performance!

And yet another close encounter of the Jonathan Boulet kind…….PARADES are an exciting art rock outfit from Sydney who are certainly young, but have wisely chosen to produce their entire canon in house at their leisure - & the results are ambitious and undeniably refreshing. With their new material chasing the expansive and grandiose leanings hinted at on their 2008 short player, the Triple J lauded single ‘Dead Nationale’ is a dynamic whitewash of pop harmonies, post rock guitars and electronic meanderings that sound like "the results of unhinged jam session", and serves as a precursor to PARADES' impending full length. Since emerging little over a year ago, the band has played a slew of high profile supports in Sydney amidst considerable national airplay. They are the winners of the Triple J unearthed Big sound '09 competition, they site the aforementioned Jonathan Boulet as a member, and they’ll be supporting Gomez on their next Australian tour. Make sure you check out PARADES at HOMEBAKE 09.

Birmingham based Queensland born combo THE SCARE are notorious for their commanding performances and with their new album ‘Oozevoodoo’ under their belt these live wire rockers will deliver a visceral set when they take to the stage at HOMEBAKE this year. The new album features a heavier attack, simpler rhythms, and more ambitious vocal melodies that circumvent the traditional with the lyrics to each song acting like mini scenes in a wider epic. ‘Oozevoodoo’ marks the production debut of Silverchair/Dissociatives front man Daniel Johns and saw the band work with respected local engineer Chris Townend (Augie March, Art Of Fighting, Portishead). It displays a quantum leap from their debut ‘Chivalry’ as they succeed in bringing out the essence in terms of both punk attitude and pop aptitude. You’d be mad to miss THE SCARE when they deliver a frenzied, gritty powerful set at HOMEBAKE 2009!

They turned heads with their astonishing debut album ‘Replica Replica’ and after playing LA, NYC & SXSW, this year RED RIDERS returned to Australia to release ‘You’ve Got A Lot Of Nerve’ the first single from their new album, ‘Drown In Colour’ released in July. The band embarked on a sold-out single tour, and a second single ‘Ordinary’ was released not long after. The response to this single was far from its namesake and hibernating RED RIDERS fans came out in droves welcoming the band’s return. They toured with Little Birdy as special guests on their theatre tour and after gaining some new found fans and re-uniting love with the faithfuls RED RIDERS will give everyone a sonic assault in only the way they know how come December 5th at HOMEBAKE 09!

Since BRIDEZILLA formed in 2006 they’ve been imprinted in the minds music fans and critics and they’ve certainly stood out from the crowd so it seems a little odd that this Sydney based quintet are only just getting ready to release their debut album ‘The First Dance’ produced by Kramer (Galaxie 500, Urge Overkill, Low, Daniel Johnston) and due out on November 7th. Their self-titled debut EP provided two triple j hits in ‘Brown Paper Bag’ and ‘St Francine’, and saw them perform with such acts as Wilco, Architecture in Helsinki and Sia. They were picked to play at the Nick Cave curated All Tomorrow's Parties, and their set there led to an invitation to perform at the New York event last month.  hey’ve just toured with Decoder Ring, followed by shows with Pavement's Steve Malkmus and the Jicks. Their genre-crossing approach sees a live show which veers from intricate quasi-classical sounds to chaotic freak-outs, all pinned down by sweet vocals. BRIDEZILLA will draw you in with their dramatic indie pop at HOMEBAKE this year.

CATCALL is the brainchild of Sydney artist Catherine Kelleher whose musical forays started in 2004 with no-wave/punk trio Kiosk. Last year she turned heads with her debut EP ‘Anniversary’ as she embarked on her first USA tour, was selected in the finals of the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards and received a nomination for best new comer at the inaugural SMAC awards, she was also tagged ;the next big thing’ by The Sydney Morning Herald. Her self produced track ‘Diss’ was featured on FBI radio compilation ‘It’s The Beat’ alongside peers such as Bag Radiers, Gameboy/Gamegirl, Architecture in Helsinki and Muscles who she’s also toured with. She also scored the prestigious support slot for American indie rockers The Gossip on their national Australian tour. CATCALL oozes confidence in the live arena as she skips through genres delivering her fractured hip-pop. Be sure to catch this indie songstress when she makes her HOMEBAKE debut on December 5.

The aural and visual festivities don't end there as we plan to assault the senses with a multi-visual display of imagery both celebratory and insightful...and our bigger and better Cinema Area now titled our Cinema Pavilion and housed within the renovated Pavilion On The Park premises within the Domain compound. We’ll shortly be issuing a press release stating the award winning short film line up for the Cinema Pavilion. Coinciding with the Cinema Pavilion activities this year, we’ll be focusing attention on the forthcoming Australian feature film, Prime Mover starring a mega cast including MICHAEL DORMAN and Emily Barclay – and with which Homebake punters will witness a very special and exclusive acoustic set  from MICHAEL DORMAN & ABBE MAY performing songs from the Prime Mover soundtrack. For more information about Prime Mover, visit http://www.primemovermovie.com/

And again we have to add that most famous statement...'but wait, there's more!’ Yes folks, we have yet to announce a couple more acts - and part of that announcement will consist of massive incentive competitions via our presenting pals at triple j under the banner of 'Unearthed HOMEBAKE' You read right - triple j is again giving you the chance to play at HOMEBAKE in Sydney in December. Make sure your best music is up online at http://www.triplejunearthed.com   and you could be picked to play in front of thousands. You’ll score the position, a dressing room and a rider…and you get paid! It’s the full rock star treatment.

Whilst rumours continue abound regarding the current closure of the Hopetoun Hotel, this will not affect the Homebake Hopetoun Incentive Competition. Thanks to our friends at Oxford Art Factory, we’ll be staging the finals on Tuesday October 20th at OAF with the winning act culled from a years worth of entries. Make sure to come on down to OAF (38 – 46 Oxford St; Darlinghurst) on October 20th from around 7.30pm and join us for a drink as we watch the finalists compete for that final vacant spot at Homebake 09.

Of course, stay tuned to our presenting tv partners Channel V and Video Hits both of whom will be announcing major national competitions whereby prize winners score huge including the chance to star in Homebake activity. On top of this, we’ll also have an announcement coming soon for the massive MySpace Homebake Fashion Incentive and more! Then there’s all the news you need to know about our ground breaking recycling incentive seemingly adopted by many events now!

There's still more special effects; activities and spectacles to be announced, however we don't want to boast about all of our 2009 HOMEBAKE celebrations now that tickets are rarer than the proverbial ‘hens tooth!’

HOMEBAKE 09 is an OVER 18’S ONLY event.
Whilst the countdown is on to the big day, we ask you to stay tuned for all the HOMEBAKE news or visit the websites at http://www.homebake.com  or http://www.myspace.com/homebake    & join our official Homebake Festival

Folks – we are still a long way out from the big day, although in keeping with that ‘unwritten charter’ that comprises the 'existance 'of Homebake, we are going to devote a bunch of our MySpace blogs to topics such as facts, details, statistics, issues and possible gossip pertaining to our beloved acts starring this year + much more that you never knew but that thought that you actually did!

Homebake may have sold in record time again this year, however as we say, it’s never too late to learn so whilst we endeavour to spread the word far & wide, what better method than a bit of international interaction via our official myspace site. And so for this particular episode of our ‘Halfbaked Homebake 2009 Blog’ we intend to devote words of praise and elements of eduction on the following.

So boys and girls, ladies and gentleman, look & listen carefully……

Daniel Merriweather has been doing his musical thing for many years despite the fact that he’s only 27 years old. Learning to play the violin at the tender of age of just 4 years old, Daniel was playing Vivaldi concerts note perfect at just 13. Aside from having found a huge fan in Mark Ronson – who admittingly did catapult Daniel’s career courtesy of the internationally successful reworking of the famed The Smiths track 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' - Daniel has worked exceptionally hard for many years touring both Australia and the world sharing stages with luminaries such as Kanye West and Justin Timberlake. Aside from lending his vocals to many successful tracks, one of Daniel’s most amazing (& virtually unknown) efforts has been his collaboration with PNAU on the track bloodlust from the 2003 album, ‘Again’. With that tidbit of information now divulged for all to read, have a listen to this amazing track here + check out Daniel as he wins over the masses courtesy of a brilliant TV performance On Sunday Night Project hosted by acclaimed actor, Martin Sheen....

On the topic of Australians conquering the world, the very talented (and may we add hilarious) SIA did score enormous international attention in 2005, when her ballad ‘Breathe Me’ sound tracked the final moments of cult television show Six Feet Under. Upon the 2008 release of her third solo album, ‘Some People Have Real Problems’, the video for her first single ‘Buttons’ became a viral sensation, earning a high profile endorsement from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. It went on to become YouTube’s second most watched music video of all time! However, SIA has also been working long and hard for many years doing her own thing,  as well as being the vocalist for the acclaimed act Zero7. However, what very few are aware of is that SIA first came to prominence earlier this decade - actually in the year 2000 - courtesy of her spectacular vocals on the hit track 'Some Kind Of Love Song’ by dance/pop genius, Friendly. Check it out....

Some of you may not know that iconic Homebake 09 stars, Rowland S Howard & Mick Harvey were founding members of the legendary Australian acts, The Boys Next Door & The Birthday Party – ie; two of the most important indie/alternative acts also featuring Nick Cave, both of which spearheaded the international post punk movement! There’s been an encyclopaedia’s worth of critical lauding, confusion, condemnation and most of all, many many words of important reference now embedded in entertainment history. These guys are Australian music royalty who greatly contributed to changing international attitudes so that music could also be appreciated as expressive art form.

And folks, for your historical reference, check out....

Stay Tuned for the next episode as we countdown to the big day.....

Our 'borrowed' ode to Dean Turner of Magic Dirt
6 January 1972 - 21 August 2009
R.I.P

If I should die and leave you here awhile,
Be not like others, sore undone, who keep
Long vigils by the silent dust and weep.
For my sake, turn again to life and smile,
Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do
Something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete those unfinished tasks of mine
And I, per chance, may therein comfort you.

One of the good guys....you will be missed!
