Dear fans, listeners and friends, The royalty rates have been delivered and webcasts will be shutting down over the next few months. I have decreased the number of free listening slots as I am responsible for paying outrageous amounts for these slots retroactive to 2006. The amount of my first royalty bill will determine when 12 Inch Retro will shutdown. The only chance we have off stopping the shutdown is by writing your representatives. This link has a pre-written letter for you to send. Please use it, or come up with your own personal message if you prefer. You can click here to send a letter to congress. If you become a VIP member, my fees (both this year and retroactively) will be reduced. In light of the new royalty scale, this is significant. Become a VIP Member here. You (yes YOU) have to take a stand and write congress. If you feel like you can't write a letter or an email to congress because you don't know the issues, please visit Save Internet Radio and educate yourself. Drop us a line if we can help answer any questions. Join MySpace group Save Internet Radio, sign the petition and tell your friends. Every little bit makes a difference! I EXPECT EVERY CLUB 80S LISTENER TO READ THAT PAGE AND WRITE THEIR CONGRESSMEN. LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE FOR INTERNET RADIO AND IT'S TIME TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD. TREAT INTERNET RADIO LIKE TRADITIONAL RADIO. NO MORE ROYALTIES. If you don't write an email or letter, then be prepared to turn off Club 80's and enjoy the silence. - DJ Lex

Our friend Richard at remembertheeighties.com has been invited to write a new book on one of his favorite topics - you guessed it, the eighties! Topics include music, media, fashion, fads, entertainment and politics. He's asking for your help. Toss in your two cents and your story may make the pages of the book! Oh, and don't forget to mention DJ Lex's Club80s.com - you know, so we're remembered too! Cheers! Gina

Calling all XM radio fans! It's time to make that call and tell XM that you want to hear DJ Lex on XM Radio's great new wave/modern rock channel called Fred. We are sure you noticed that they don't have any mixshows on their channel. Sounds to us like they could use one! Feel free to remind them that their competitor Sirius has one and they should too. So here's the game plan. There are two groups of people: those that already subscribe to XM and those that don't. If you currently subscribe to XM, here's what you need to do... Let them know you'd like to hear the Club 80's mixshows on Fred. DJ Lex is a well known mixshow DJ (just ask Google about 80s mixshow, 80s DJ, or 80s remix). Call or email the Fred channel and tell them how DJ Lex does a great new wave mixshow and that you would like to hear it. After, please post a comment here to let us know about your experience, especially if you hear back from them.
If you currently do not subscribe to XM, here's what you need to do... Ask yourself this question: would I subscribe to XM if I could hear the Club 80's mixshows on the Fred channel? You know, in my car on the way to work, in the kitchen while making dinner, in the bed..er well, you get the point. If yes, tell them that! Call or email the Fred channel and let them know.
Oh - and don't forget the phone number! The Fred folks can be reached at 1-866-352-FRED (866-352-3733).

Okay, so not yet. But Lex is willing and we need your help! It's time to get organized and lobby to get Club 80's on satellite radio. The most natural choice would be the Sirius channel First Wave. Lex contacted them years ago about doing a mixshow and they weren't interested. (The mixshows are the nonstop DJ mixes that he runs on the weekends.) Now, they are running a mixshow on Saturday nights called "Safety Dance". They don't have a DJ name or host attached to that show; which means they're probably doing it in house with some DJ software.
Here's the game plan. There are two groups of people: those that already subscribe to Sirius and those that don't.
If you currently subscribe to Sirius, here's what you need to do... They don't have a DJ or host for "Safety Dance" - why not have DJ Lex do it? He's well known (do a Google search for 80s mixshow, 80s DJ, 80s remix). Tell them that DJ Lex would do a much better mixshow and has a huge following (which equals more listeners). So call or email the First Wave channel and tell them how DJ Lex does a great new wave mixshow and you'd like to hear him. Please post a comment when you have done this.
If you currently do not subscribe to Sirius, here's what you need to do... Ask yourself this question: would you subscribe to Sirius if you could hear the Club 80's mixshows on the First Wave channel? If yes, tell them that! Call or email the First Wave channel and let them know.

Everybody gets sentimental this time of year. Here's a list to bring back the ol' memories (compliments of an 80s fan!).
You know you're a child of the 80's if...
?You remember Don Johnson when he was "cool" ?You know who shot J.R ?You remember when Michael Jackson was actually considered something of a sex symbol ?You practice getting in and out of your car through the windows ?You owned at least one skinny leather tie. ?Your first Walkman weighed 10 pounds and was the size of a brick. ?You wore L.A. Gear tennis shoes. ?You know the meaning of Wax on/Wax Off ?You're always "in the mood for dancing" ?If you can "See Better" with sunglasses that have paint splattered all over the lenses. ?You wore lace gloves with the fingers cut off, bangle bracelets up to your elbows, bright red Reebok high tops and parachute pants to a school dance ?You need a shopping cart to carry your personal stereo with you. ?You remember what Michael Jackson looked like before the surgery. ?You go rollerskating every Friday night (not to skate, but to 'hang out') ?You still want to take Karate...(after you move to California) ?You watch NYPD Blue thinking, "Well, they're no Crockett and Tubbs, that's for sure". ?"Outrageous!" is the term to describe something neat and cool ?You think that Garbage Pail Kids are your children's worst enemy ?You had a poster of Bo, Luke & Daisy Duke ?There was nothing to question about Bert n' Ernie living together ?The feeling in your thumb is only now just returning after holding down the ?Atari joystick to control the racecar in Enduro Racer ?You went out and purchased the sound track for 'Miami Vice' ?You remember the magazines of song lyrics ?You think Hulk Hogan is the best wrestler of all time. ?The best non-slasher movie in your opinion is An American Werewolf in London. ?Two words: The Clapper. ?Six words: "This is your brain on drugs." ?You want to live in 'the Valley'. ?Ferris Bueller was your idol. ?You watched 'Star Search' on a regular basis. ?You can sing all the words to "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head, and now you understand that it is about chess. ?You had an entire wardrobe of Esprit clothing (or coveted one.) ?You know the words to the "Oscar Mayer" theme songs ?Your bangs are teased perfectly to 7 inches above the rest of your hair. ?You have multi-colored earrings that touch your shoulders ?You played Upwords, Boggle or Trivial Pursuit (the original) on a rainy afternoon ?You're still bitter that WHAM broke up ?You know whose phone number is 867-5309 ?You drink Diet Coke because Max Headroom told you to ?You can feel St. Elmo's fire burnin' in you. ?You still wear a bandana tied around your leg and/or a ponytail off-center on the side of your head. ?You have the tendency to turn up the collar of your polo shirts ?You never go out for a night on the town without frosted blue eyeshadow and feathered bangs ?Everything in your wardrobe is either pastel or fluorescent ?People are constantly gagging you with spoons ?You know all the words to "I'm just a bill, sitting up on Capitol Hill" and "School House Rock." ?The phrase "Where's the beef?" still doubles you over with laughter ?You still can't believe that Milli Vanilli was deceiving you all that time ?Every now and then, you blurt out: "Ooh noo, Mr. Bill!!!" ?You still watch things on Beta tapes ?You know who Martha Quinn is. ?You still carry your boom box on your shoulder ?You think David Hasselhoff was awesome in Knight Rider but sucks in "Boob Watch." ?You wanted to be "The Hulk" for Halloween ?A piece of folded paper and two hands could tell your fortune. ?Knickers and leg warmers were cool ?You remember Bruce Willis from Moonlighting, not Die Hard ?You had ringside seats for Luke and Laura's wedding ?You had a Dorothy Hammill haircut. ?You thought a Commodore 64 was the highest technology available ?When you saw luging at the Winter Olympics you poured water down your driveway and tried it yourself. ?You want to be "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" ?'A Different World' kicked butt ?You remember "Dancin' to a Big Mac at McDonalds!" ?You know who played Magnum P.I ?One Phrase, "The Plane, The Plane" ?You can name at least three members of the Brat Pack ?You still think banana clips were a godsend ?You still wear Wet n' Wild makeup ?Your idea of hi-tech toys is still the heat-sensitive color-changing sticker on ?Transformers ?You ever wanted to learn to play "Stairway to Heaven" on the guitar and choreographed "Dancing Queen" by yourself in your room. ?You still wear your "Members Only" jacket. ?You still have a couple of those barrettes made of woven ribbons. ?You had snap bracelets ?You remember when Pee-Wee wasn't a pervert. ?You had had five pairs of socks on at any given time ?You still think Donkey Kong can beat up Mario ?You still have your scratch-n-sniff sticker collection ?You once used Lee Press-On Nails ?You wear jelly shoes and think they are cool ?You remember when you heard that drinking soda and eating Pop Rocks would make your stomach explode ?You still play with that CASIO SK-1 Keyboard ?You're still hoping for a New Kids on the Block reunion tour ?You still argue over who was better: Tiffany or Debbie Gibson ?Every time you hear the "OH YEAH..." song you think of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and don't know why ?You still watch tapes of Stingray, McGyver, and Airwolf
