So "White knight" was written between 7 and 7:45 pm, and recorded live in my living room in a single MD take (you can hear that) between 9:56 and 9:59 pm last night. It was online at 11:09 pm.
It may be suicide, but yes, it can be that fast.
Actually it was quite fun to create the highspeed way.
Another luuv song.. Hope you'll enjoy. ;)

And hope to see the most parisian ones of you soon at the Six-Huit, where we've been playing on monday nights with Virgule (and Fanny Salmeron reading) for a few weeks now. It's been a very instructive and thrilling experience so far. And performing with friends makes it even better. ;)

Donc "White knight" a été écrite entre 19h et 19h45, et enregistrée au MD live in my living room en une seule prise (ça s'entend) entre 21h56 et 21h59 hier soir. Elle était en ligne à 23h09.
C'est peut-être suicidaire, mais oui, ça peut être aussi rapide.
C'était assez drôle d'expérimenter la création TGV.
Une chanson d'amûûr.. J'espère que ça vous plaira. ;)

Et j'espère voir bientôt les plus parisiens d'entre vous au Six-Huit, où nous jouons les lundis soirs avec Virgule (et avec Fanny Salmeron qui lit) depuis plusieurs semaines maintenant. C'est une expérience très excitante et enrichissante jusque là. Et la vivre avec des amies ne la rend que meilleure. ;)

It was shot during the last show a few weeks ago, when i played it live for the very first time. Nobody had heard it before but The SheBeeShots ;)
So as it was the very first time, i played it a bit too fast.. but you'll get the spirit anyway! (few first words are missing as well! ;) )

Elle a été prise pendant le dernier concert il y a quelques semaines, alors que je la jouais live pour la première fois. Personne ne l'avait entendue avant, si ce n'est The SheBeeShots ;)
Bon, comme c'était une première, je l'ai jouée un peu trop rapidement.. mais vous aurez l'idée quand même! (il manque aussi les premiers mots, mais bon, pas grave!)

Happy new year to all! Hope it brings everything you wish for!

To get off to a good start, i just uploaded a new song.

“Strawberry Tree” was written sometime last october and recorded yesterday between 1.00 am and 3.am for most of the tracks (guitar, vocals and backing vocals).
“Happy handclaping and partying choir” tracks, performed by The SheBeeShots, were recorded later on the same day, between 8 and 10.00 pm at Studio 68.
The SheBeeShots kindly appear courtesy of themselves. So thanks a lot!!

Anyways, hope you like it, let me know what you think!

Also, for those of you with a Facebook account (so i’m guessing all of you!), a May Day fan page was created so you can add it to your favorites and contribute : May Day on Facebook
Funny enough, May Day seems to have lots of fans in Singapore and Turkey!

Très bonne année à toutes et tous! Qu’elle vous apporte tout ce que vous souhaiterez.

Pour bien débuter l’année, il y a une nouvelle chanson en ligne!

“Strawberry Tree” a été écrite et composée courant octobre et enregistrée hier entre 1h et 3h du matin pour l’essentiel des prises (guitare, voix et chœurs).
Les pistes d’ambiance chorale “C’est la teuf, tape dans tes mains” par The SheBeeShots ont été enregistrées plus tard le même jour entre 20h et 22h au Studio 68.
The SheBeeShots apparaissent gentiment et avec l’aimable autorisation d’elles-mêmes. Alors merci beaucoup!!

Voilà, j’espère que vous aimerez, dites-moi ce que vous en pensez!

Sinon, pour celles et ceux d’entres vous qui ont un compte Facebook (c’est à dire, tout le monde!), il y a maintenant une page fan de May Day que vous pouvez ajouter à vos pages et sur laquelle vous pouvez contribuer : May Day sur Facebook

Quelques mots pour vous présenter The SheBeeShots, le projet 'parallèle' dont je vous parlais il y a quelques semaines.
Nous venons de mettre en ligne notre premier titre sur myspace, et vous pouvez nous retrouver ici: The SheBeeShots
Vous y trouverez à peu près tout ce qu'il y a à savoir de The SheBeeShots : musique, photos, vidéos et les détails concernant Bitches on the beach, notre premier titre.
On a formé le groupe en septembre avec Virgule et Jane, que vous connaissez déjà bien si vous êtes venus me voir en live, puisque j'ouvrais pour elles. Notre batteuse née, Sticky, nous a rejointes un peu plus tard.
C'est un honneur incroyable et un plaisir indicible pour moi que de pouvoir jouer et écrire des chansons avec elles, d'abord parce qu'elles sont excessivement talentueuses, mais aussi parce que nous sommes des amies proches ce qui rend l'exercice éminemment sympathique.
Ca aurait pu ne pas coller du tout à vrai dire, mais il semble qu'il y ait entre nous 4 une alchimie à la fois humaine et artistique qui fait de The SheBeeShots une expérience complètement passionnante pour moi.
Je pense que Bitches on the beach est une très bonne chanson. Elle a été composée quasi instantanément lors de notre première répétition à 4, et le texte (qui je crois n'est pas loin d'être mon meilleur) m'est venu comme si j'avais été frappée par la foudre.

Voilà, j'espère que vous apprécierez The SheBeeShots autant que je les aime, et si c'est le cas ajoutez-nous à vos amis, parlez de nous, et venez commenter tout ce qui se passe chez nous!

A few words to introduce The SheBeeShots, the 'side' project i'm involved in i was talking about a few weeks ago.
We just had our first song uploaded yesterday on our myspace page, and you can check us out here : The SheBeeShots
You'll basically find everything there is to know about us there: music, pics, videos, and details about Bitches on the beach, our first song.
We formed the band in September with Virgule and Jane who you already know if you ever came to see me live, that is when i was opening for them. We were joined by our natural born drummer, Sticky, later on.
It's an incredible honour, and an indescriptible delight for me to be playing and writing songs with them, first because they're excessively talented and second because we're all close friends, which makes it fun, big time.
It could have not worked out at all but it seems there's an obvious both personal and artistic chemistry between the 4 of us which makes The SheBeeShots a totally thrilling experience for me.
I think Bitches on the beach is a very good song. It was composed almost instantly the first time we rehearsed altogether, and the lyrics (which i think are not far from being the best i ever wrote) just came to me as if i was stroke by lightning.

Anyways, i hope you'll enjoy The SheBeeShots as much as i love them, and if you do, please add us, tell your friends about us, and comment on anything that's going on there!

Hey there!

Just a few words cause this totally made my day.
Friday night, 2 am, had just come back home, and i started to play a little guitar, singing kinda loud.
At some point, i heard some noise on my doorstep. I thought someone was about to ring the bell and yell at me, so i stopped.. but nothing happened, and here's what i found on the doormat..



Apart from that, i'm writing a lot, but i just can't find time to record anything, and i'm also working on another side project which is very exciting and i hope i can tell you more about it really soon. ;)

Hello there!

It's been a long time since i last wrote anything in here, or uploaded a new song.
I wrote some though! ;)

Anyways, here's a new one "I'll shoot you", which some of you might already have heard live last month @ Le Buveur de Lune.

I wrote most of it (the 2 verses) last august, that is 8 months ago. I really loved it, and felt there was something special about it.
But still, something was missing. I tried from time to time to fill the blanks but never succeded until i felt the urge to. Lazy me. ;)
I really wanted to play it live, and when the show was only 3 days away, i came up with the bridge part.
I think that's the longest time it ever took me to write a song.

I got really good feedback on the song after the show.
So i thought, i'd take some time to record it well.
But after a while, i thought i should just record it live in a single take, because it's not supposed to be perfect at all.
It is about how rough and violent feelings can be (especially when you can't even name them), and taking too much time to record it could have killed its soul.
So this is how i play it, alone on my sofa, late at night (this is last night version). And this is how i like it.
I'm not saying i won't try to fit it in another suit later on though, but for now, naked as it is, it suits me fine!

Je suis très fière et très touchée de voir que mon player a dépassé ce jour la barre des 10.000 écoutes!
C'est peu pour certains, mais c'est énorme pour moi!

Je tenais donc à vous en remercier, vous qui venez régulièrement écouter mes chansons et qui passez le mot à vos amis.
(D'ailleurs, c'est mon prochain objectif : 500 VRAIS amis d'ici le 31 décembre, donc c..)

I'm really proud and deeply touched to see that my player shows over 10.000 plays today!
It's not much for some, but it's huge to me!!

So thank you very much to the ones of you that come and check my page on a regular basis and tell your friends about it.
(BTW, my next aim is to have 500 REAL friends by the end of the year, so keep on doing what you do!!) =)

Pour l'anecdote, j'ai quelques soucis techniques et informatiques que j'espère régler rapidement de façon à ce que les prochaines chansons ne trainent pas trop.. (Pas moins de 4 nouvelles en cours!)

The news is i got some technical problems i hope to fix soon enough so it won't take me too long to add new songs online.. (i'm actually working on 4 new ones!)

(C'est un super nom d'album, je trouve.)

C'est la rentrée, youpi. J'aime bien la rentrée, c'est un peu comme le Jour de l'An, sauf que généralement, il fait meilleur temps. J'ai bien dit "généralement".

On revient avec de bonnes résolutions, manger plus de fruits, arrêter de fumer, faire du sport, ne plus travailler trop tard, garder du temps pour soi, faire des enfants.

On est content de retrouver son appart qui a l'air plus grand que quand on l'a quitté, on fait le ménage de bonne humeur, on revoit ses amis qui rentrent eux aussi, généralement joyeusement bronzés. J'ai encore bien dit "généralement".

On voit tout ce qu'on connait déjà par coeur sous un jour nouveau et avec les yeux plus gros que le ventre.

Bon, même si ça ne dure jamais longtemps, c'est agréable.

Tout ça n'a pas grand chose à voir avec le sujet, si ce n'est que ces moments là et cette assiduité d'élève curieux face à la vie sont exactement ceux dont parle "The Quest" : une quête de l'envie, perpétuelle et sans cesse renouvelée, de faire de son mieux.

Aujourd'hui, par exemple, je n'ai pas envie de parler anglais.
Ca prouve que la ligne d'arrivée est encore loin.

Yes, that's right, your favorite May Day is back! Woot woot!! =)
Didn't realize it had been more than 2 months since i last uploaded a song.
So i got a bunch of angry messages (from "hey, now that you got fans, you have to feed them!!" to "hey bitch, what the hell do you think you're doing?? it's not like you have a life or a job, damned!!", and so on..) that got me a bit under pressure..

So first, i apologize, i was busy. Second, it's been 2 months i'm working on a song that i don't seem to be able to make sound right, and i got obsessed with it. And it's a shame, cause it's a very good song, i think. Anyways, maybe, one day.. you'll get to hear it.

And so, after spending another weekend working on the undoable song, last night, between 1 and 2 am, i wrote and recorded this "Undress" rough demo with my beloved MD. (well okay, i cheated, i added backing vocals afterwards, but that's it!)
It's absolutely imperfect, not to say even bad at times, but ain't that the beauty of live music, huh? ;)

"Undress" is definitely a summer song, and if i was Jack Johnson, i'm quite sure it'd be a hit. :re:
So, i hope you'll enjoy, let me know.

Mais oui, c'est vrai, votre May Day préférée est de retour!! youpi!!
Je n'avais pas réalisé que ça faisait plus de 2 mois que je n'avais pas posté de nouvelle chanson.
Mais j'ai eu quelques messages (allant de "maintenant que tu as des fans, faut les entretenir" à "et dis donc, qu'est ce que tu fous??! c'est pas comme si t'avais une vie ou du taf, bordel!!" etc.) qui m'ont mise un peu sous pression..

Alors d'abord, je m'excuse, mais j'étais vraiment occupée. Ensuite, ça fait 2 mois que je travaille sur une chanson dont je ne parviens pas à faire ce que je voudrais, qui m'a un peu monopolisée. C'est dommage, parce que c'est à mon avis une très bonne chanson. Enfin.. peut-être qu'un jour vous l'entendrez.

Et donc, après avoir passé encore un week-end sur la chanson infaisable, hier soir entre 1h et 2h du mat', j'ai composé et enregitré cette démo d'"Undress" avec mon MD. (Bon oui, j'ai triché, j'ai rajouté 2-3 choeurs après, mais pas grand chose).
C'est tout à fait imparfait, voire carrément pas bon par moments, mais n'est-ce pas là toute la magie du live, hein? ;)

"Undress", c'est une vraie chanson d'été. Si j'étais Jack Johnson, ça serait un tube.
Un peu "Tout le monde" (il est beau), mais sans les prénoms, et surtout sans Jean-Marie (parce que c'est mieux qu'il reste habillé, lui).

Bref, j'espère que vous kifferez et à bientôt!
D'ici là, j'ai quelques vagues à prendre.
