Hey Beamsters and Beamettes,
We're pleased to announce our affiliation with Paul Bothner's Music this year. As you probably know, Paul Bothner's Music is a local chain of musical equipment suppliers.
We're thankful that they are willing to recognise and help local talent get where they need to be. After all there is certainly a common interest between performers and music retailers in growing the local music industry and for making it a more conducive space for making music and being creative.
We hope the relationship will be one that grows and one that will in turn allow us to give you as fans a more exciting Beams experience in shows to come.

Yes kids it true, that psychedelic-boer bar has a special place in our hearts. We jol there, we party there, we rock out there, we booze there, we get friendly with the women-folk there and we have an all-round good time there!
Thank you Stellenbosch for a good night.

Hey Peeps!
Well all I have to say to any Beamster who was otherwise enaged this last weekend is that you missed out! Rocking the Daisies was awesome this year. The Beams certainly rocked Saturday!
Overall it was an awesome weekend with so many cool bands who played great sets (we did of course get the crowd warmed up for the rest of Saturday...).
Photos will be up soon. See you guys at the EP launch on the 17th of November!
Ciao,
The Red Beam

Well hi there...
So! Young Guns finally came together! There was a lot of anticipation and excitement, I can tell you. It was also awesome to debut a new song. Big thanks go to Levi's as practically the only corporate presence promoting local music. Thanks to Dave Moffat for helping organise the show too.
Obviously, there is of course a video in the loop. Stay tuned and we'll keep you informed...
Ciao,
-The Red Beam

Greetings All, As of yesterday our synthesiser/guitarist Evan Hill has parted ways with The Beams. This is due to personal reasons that we won't get into. If you've ever been in a band for a bit you'll know things change and sometimes its tough and that's the situation we're in. Unfortunately this coupled with Paul's surgery and recovery time means there won't be any shows for a while. We'll let you know how he's doing. We're still hoping to fulfil our commitment to Levi's on the 16th of August. All this considering, we are trying to put a positive spin on this. We're gonna to step things up during this time and prepare new material while actively searching for a replacement synthesiser/keyboard player. If you do play keyboards, let us know and we'll schedule an audition. Thanks for your patience everyone, the EP is coming and The Beams will be back, better than ever soon. Cheers, -The Red Beam

Hey guys.
Well, it seems that the fates, as well as the consequences of our own personal little habits, have conspired and coincided quite remarkably to ensure that we'll be unable to perform for a couple of weeks. The earliest we'll be able to perform will most likely be the Levi's Young Guns showcase in mid-August, although there still may be further twists in the plot. Our apologies to all those that we were going to perform with and/or for in August!
BUT LET IT BE KNOWN, there is still gonna be a killer gig at Armchair on the 12th of July! Don't miss out on Kidofdoom!
While this means that there will be no Beams for a quite a while, it also means that our 'return' gig and EP launch will be all the more raucous and spectacular. We're also glad to have some time to just jam (to the extent that we're able to) and come up with some new material for us and ya'll.
Anyway, please keep in touch. We definitely will. Hope ya'll are well.

Hey Guys!
Wow, wasn't last night a blast? It was extremely good fun for us! No more exams, just rock'n roll, and cold. It was also great to break in our new drummer Jay, who we're quite proud of for mucking in so quickly.
Thanks to everyone who pitched, it was a great night. Armchair was well packed. Thanks to Eat This Horse for supporting us. Also, sorry to anyone who was put out by some of the more unrully members of the crowd last night, remember guys The Beams are about love, not moshing!
Ciao

Well, as you can all see, we've finally posted up a selection of the songs that are on our debut EP, scheduled for launch in early-August. They're the result of over a year of jamming and performing and some strenuous but highly rewarding weeks in the studio. We'd just like to thank all the people that helped in making our baby, particularly Fuzzy, Carel and Ian. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! Let us know what ya think! The Beams, baby, yeah!

The Beams are back in Cape Town!
Yes, I know it was only a weekend but there it is. We survived Oppikoppi. How many hours is it to Pretoria from Cape Town in a Land Rover Defender with a horde of stuff and 4 band mates? 16. Where is Oppikoppi really? Limpopo. Another 3 hours. What an adventure.
God knows how much diesel, junk food, brain cells, patience and hygiene was sacrificed to bring a little bit of Cape Town boogie to the inhabitants of Gauteng but it happened!
Still, we played an awesome show. We got there on Saturday, checked in, put up our tents and got a crowd that was sitting down chilling up and dancing which I think was a great achievement. Kid of Doom took over after our set which was great too. They played a great set and it was really cool partying with them afterwards.
We turned our backs on Gauteng bright and early on Monday morning, but we doubt that will be the last time we have make the trip and we hope to see the Oppi Koppi crew again soon!
