What's poppin yall!! Time to get this blog started again...Let me kick it off by posting an interview I did with Heatseekers magazine. It never went to print. But ya boy got some shine...Here it is:
“Persistence beats resistance, persistence beats resistance, persistance beats resistance”. These are the words you faintly hearfrom a young man sitting in a Beverly Hills, Starbucks with a laptop onthe table. Almost like he’s gearing up for a world class fight, or achampionship game, bottom of the ninth two outs up to bat. It’s justthat serious. What is he doing you mightask? E-mailing distribution companies, trying to find a home for hisfirst feature film he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in. Acolossal effort from a young man who just recently celebrated a birthday.I pan to the left of him and see another young man similar in age, laughing and talking on the phone while fumbling through his ipod. Thisis what you would usually expect from a young adult in this generation, but Noah Sife is not usual. Yeah, you probably would look over him ifyou walked by. He’s dressed in jeans and a t-shirt that reads TheAdventures of Noah Sife. A logo that says way too much to be soinconspicuous.
As I give him his last remaining 8 minutes before our interview Ican’t help but to be inspired by his determination. The look in his eyeas he pushes return for the last time then smiles. “Sorry, I had totake care of that”. Reassures me that he actually is human, and a nicelooking one I might add.
Felicia: Why do you chant while your on the computer?
Noah: Not really chanting, just reaffirming. So many things runthrough your head while you try to get things accomplished, it’s a goodway to stay focused and kinda combat some of the negativity that creepsin every now and again.
Felicia: Where do you face the most negativity?
Noah: I face some from the outside. You know critics and consumers. But I face the most from the inside. That little voice that tells you,you can’t do it.
Felicia: How prominent was that voice when you were filming your new movie.
Noah: It was put to rest. I gave it NyQuil for a couple of weeks(laughs). I wasn’t having any of that on my set. It was all fun, hardwork and making history.
Felicia: What do you mean by making history.
Noah: Making something that people can hold on to. Classic. I thinkthis film ranks right up there. I didn’t follow any format, pop culturetopic or anything. I wanted to make something people could look at tenyears from now and say “Dang, that Noah Sife was a crazy mofo”.
Felicia: What inspired you to make the movie?
Noah: I wanted to give the people what they wanted. The series hasbeen around for a year and I’ve got thousands of fans and they lovewhen I do comedy. So I gave them a double heaping portion times ten. Ireally kicked the door down with this one.
Felicia: How do you feel about the comparisons to Tyler Perry?
Noah: I didn’t know what to think at first because I have alwaysconsidered myself a trailblazer. So I didn’t want people to think I wascopying anything from him. But the more I thought about it, the more Iwas honored because Tyler Perry puts out some really good, powerfulmaterial. He also incorporates a powerful message, and I try to do thesame thing.
Felicia: Where do you think the comparisons came from?
Noah: Probably because we are a lot alike. We both write, direct, produce, act, and pretty much are the face of our companies. He has abrand, and that’s what I am working towards. Building The Adventures ofNoah Sife brand so I can branch out to television, clothing, cologne, plays, anything I want to do under my own umbrella.
Felicia: What are the major differences between you two.
Noah: I think I curse way more. I drop the F-bomb and some of my subject matter is a little raunchier. (laughs)
Felicia: Oh my goodness (Puts hands over her mouth playfully).
Noah: Hey, I’m young. I can’t talk about why I got married, not yet at least.
Felicia: What are you doing to build The Adventures of Noah Sife brand?
Noah: Well, shooting a feature film was the first big step. We arecurrently looking for distribution for the film and possibly the wholeseries. I am also finishing up a pilot I plan to pitch to networks realsoon, and I’m in the process of writing a play.
Felicia: So you are following in a couple footsteps?
Noah: You can say that. Writing a play is something that I alwayswanted to do, and I used to do a lot of theater, so I miss being onstage.
Felicia: What’s the title of the movie and when can we expect it?
Noah: The title of the movie is The Adventures of Noah Sife V. 2:Totally Uncalled For. And it is by far the hottest, funniest, comedy,of the year. We got a beautiful cast so be expecting the movie totakeover next year. We’re going after the MTV/BET audience.
Felicia: Wow that’s impressive. I can’t wait to see it. The buzz is crazy. Any official release date.
Noah: We’re shooting for January. So be on the look out.
Felicia: How do you think The Adventures of Noah Sife web series helped you as a filmmaker?
Noah: It taught me a lot about marketing and rejection. Some of myvideos get over 250,000 hits and some of them get 2,000. And we’retalking about back to back videos. You have to be able to know deepdown inside that you are a successful filmmaker either way. So youlearn how to market your films and come up with the right titles andcontent so they can get those hits. So I’m translating that to my filmmarketing.
Felicia: All your videos have received over 1.4 million hits last year. How are you going to top that.
Noah: I think the biggest thing is to say consistent. I want totranslate those hits to dollars. A wise man once told me persistencebeats resistance. So I try to incorporate that into my train of thoughtfrom time to time. (Laughs)
