Ive recently starting writing for a few Art related blogs in the UK.
I am by no means a writer but there is alot i need to get off my
perfectly formed chest.

This is a bit of an experiment - Im going to post my ramblings on here in the style of
a jumped up american office clerk, if you enjoy reading. let me know.

Internalized Homophobia

I spend most weekends crawling from disco to disco. You'll be surprised to hear that the life of an 'avant-garde performer' isn't one that frequently pays the rent - a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

This weekend i only had two gigs in gay clubs but that was enough of 'the scene' for a whole year. I was recently asked to give an interview for a gay website about my feelings towards gay men. I make it very clear i have no respect for those who celebrate their stereotype - Clubbing til Tuesday afternoon, down the gym on Wednesday, Ikea on Thursday and Friday's 'Mocha-Choca-latte-decaf-delight with soya' social for gay men between 18 - 24yrs old.

Other demographics are keen to break the mould and show the world diversity in their community. 'Gays' are very different - they revel in their stereotype. There are however a group of very different gays which go by the name of 'Queers' or 'Faggots' - I address myself as the later, its my verbal statement to the world that i am different to the the exfoliating Soho goers. I surround myself by others who do the same.

Gays - Your first point of call if you wish to abandon your culture is Duckie. Every Saturday in the heart of 'put your hands up in the air' Vauxhall - Amy Lame and the Readers Wives (pictured) host a ... well... er....knee's up, with two random pieces of performance from whoever they think is a bit good. The Arts Council also fund their 'Gay Shame' event every year during London Pride.

Then there's the House of Homosexual culture - a group of Gents who put on events outside of disco's to give us an insight to gay life before us. They recently held an event for Tallulah - a scene personality, dj and all round star - celebrating his/her life. He was present at the event but is no longer with us.

I suppose this blog to to advertise all the wonderful things you should be seeing about gay culture but so often overlooked in the gay press as they dont have an advertising budget. Gay life is that fickle. If you haven't got the cash - you can't have the voice. 'Queers' are bored of this vacuous lifestyle and are actively protesting using art, music and politics to make cultural shifts. If this world doesn't wake up soon in the words of Franz Ferdinand 'I predict a riot'.

Note to self - Do the interview with the gay website - Be the shepherd not the sheep.
