I’m so excited now Christmas is getting closer – I love it! For me, Christmas time is all about family and this year we have a new addition coming in to the Redknapp household – a new puppy to keep Bella, our bulldog company. I can’t wait to see Charley and Beau’s faces when they see it – I’m holding my breath to see the names Charley comes up with though!

I’m sure most of you are underway with your Christmas shopping. I am desperately trying to find a day when I can hit the shops. My biggest spend around this year is candles. I love receiving them and I think they’re a great gift to give too. A couple of my favourite designer candles are Jo Malone and Rob Van Helden.

Louise Redknapp is the new presenter on breakfast show Something For The Weekend, the BBC said.

The former chart star joins Tim Lovejoy and chef Simon Rimmer on the Sunday morning chat and cookery show in January.

She said: "Working with Tim and Simon and presenting live is an exciting prospect - it will definitely brighten up my Sunday mornings."

Liam Keelan, BBC daytime controller, said: "Louise seems like a natural fit for the series which has gone from strength to strength over the last two years."

Louise - who is replacing nutritionist Amanda Hamilton, who leaves the show at the end of this year - found fame in the 90s with soul group Eternal before launching a solo career, selling more than four million records in the UK alone.

Her TV credits include UKTV Style's The Clothes Show, Five's reality show The Farmer Wants A Wife and a three-week stand-in run on Something For The Weekend.

Something For The Weekend, now in its third year, is regularly watched by more than one million viewers and held a peak audience share of over 15 per cent.

2009 looks set to be an even busier year than 2008:

Louise discovers first hand the dangers of the current obsession with being stick thin when she undertakes an extreme crash diet and exercise regime in an attempt to drop to a US dress size zero in just 30 days.

In The Truth about Size Zero Louise undergoes a punishing plan to dramatically lose weight and attempt to drop two dress sizes. The programme highlights the risks of subjecting the body to such extreme measures and reveals the real effects extreme dieting and exercise techniques have on the body.

Louise has already undergone the month long experiment and was closely monitored by a doctor at every stage. She is now putting the weight back on gradually with the help of a doctor.

The show also sees Louise travelling to LA to take part in military style fitness boot camps and get diet advice.

Louise, who was voted FHM's Sexiest Woman of the Decade, meets celebrities who have felt the pressures to be super skinny - including Mel C and Denise Van Outen.

And she talks to people from all walks of life who have been touched by the 'thinspiration' trend; from magazine editors, agents, models and casting directors, to patients as young as 12 at an eating disorders clinic.

Louise says: "I've felt that pressure to be stick thin and wanted to highlight the damage young girls can do to their bodies by subjecting themselves to punishing, unhealthy regimes in a desperate bid to lose weight. " It is not glamorous or sexy in the least. Having done the plan for a month I was really relieved to be able to eat normally and healthily again. Extreme regimes such as this have a negative impact on both the body and mind. It is something I would never do again.

" The regime was almost near impossible to keep up with as a working mum and it means making huge sacrifices in other areas of your life."
